AIO Arc (6.25G) reef

Back in October I decided to set up a new reef.I decided on the Petco Arc after noticing Its nicely designed for reef use. The Petco Arc comes with a built in three stage overflow box "sump". Its a glass bow front tank which is really nice.

I've had a couple different reefs over the years and set them all up pretty much the same, but this time I'm doing everything a bit differently. In the past I've basically set up everything el natural letting the live rock and sand do MOST of the filtration. I'd top off fresh RO when I remembered, which wasn't that often :/...So this time around I'm jumping ahead of all my past mistakes and being smart about my new reef setup.

set up (current):

- Matrix filter media

- SunSun JVP-110 (528 GPH) Mini Aquarium Circulation Pumps

-Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED (amazing and fun fixture)

- Hydor ATO using RODI water.

I am considering an Arc 6.25 as well. I was thinking of going with one of the Chinese 165 watt LED units and keeping it dimmed since they are only around $130. Yours is the 2nd setup I have seen with the Current USA 18". How are you liking that setup?

I really like the Marine Orbit for this tank. And when I say "this tank" I mean shallow tanks. I'll have an update soon, but for a brief period I switched the contents of this tank into a deeper tank. the light just wasn't strong enough to reach the bottom.

When I switched everything back all my corals came back to life and have been growing new heads ever since.

I'd definitely recommend this light for any shallow setup.

I think the light you're thinking fo will be MORE than enough hahaha. Good luck!

Its been awhile!

Hey nano reefers! Long time no post.

So a lot has changed, I've added new live stock and rearranged things plus added more live rock.

Current live stock:

- Acan

- Red Favia

- Star polyps (3 different types)

- Green Flower pot

- Brown Palys

- Green eye Palys

-Watermelon Zoas

- Green zoas (not sure name)

- Hairy Mushroom

- Juvenile Bi color Blenny

- Emerald Crab

-looooots of pods

- several Bristle stars fish

This new little blenny is so cute! His homes in an old snail shell. He goes from his shell to his new cave when he's jetting around the tank.

The tanks is setup in a temporary spot in our kitchen. We're moving soon So I want it ready when we are ready ;).

I need to keep a nice close look at this guy. I haven't had great luck with emeralds in the past so if this guy causes any trouble hes OUT! I'm experiencing a bubble algae outbreak so that's why I got him. So far he's been pretty lazy, just picking at rocks and irritating my flower pot coral.

I'll try to stay current with updates. If anyone has suggestions for new live stock or a better technique than an emerald crab to fight bubble algae please leave a comment :)!

I think that is the controversial 'kill algea' or caulerpa taxifolia. Here are some links to help you build your own opinion.

I have the same tank. Your's looks great. I'll post some pics of mine when it is populated.

I currently have a biocube protein skimmer in there but it's not cutting it for me. Did you ever get a protein skimmer for yours. If so what did you get? If you have a moment, can you post a picture of your sump and how it's setup?

Thanks

Hello -

I have this tank and just accidentally broke the lid cleaning it this morning. Does anyone have a lid they are not using? I can pay for it and shipping.

Please and thank you!

Morgan
