Red macroalgae

That reminds me of my grandmother's summer cottage in Finland in Yläne, water is cold in summer even, like 9-20° C at the bottom really cold in some areas I remember the water sometimes was cold enough you got a headache of you put your head in the cold zone. But there were quite a few leeches and ascellus at the bottom, a few freshwater limpets and insects also.

The water is very cold but I wouldn't swim during winter it would be freezing
how cold?

certainly cold enough to give you a head ache the ocean gets as cold as 6 or 7 degrees Celsius the harbour stays around 9 in winter

Check iodine and potassium levels for temperate red algae. I think temperature is critical too. Never had much luck with macro algae in my build either.
