I have the bug and I am getting back into the hobby after a 5 year absence had to brake down a 10 year old 125g system to move back across the country so I decided on ordering a fusion 10 with a MP 10 and IM ghost skimmer what I cant decide on is lighting I will be upgrading to a ELOS Midi down the road so am trying to do this with future proof upgrades (easier said than done )! What lighting do you recommend so I don't have to just junk the light down the road I already have boxes of old reef stuff MH lighting and skimmers that go back 15 years. I was looking at the kessel 150w or a AI system just don't know what is best. I'm l going to try keeping some SPS in this set up. Also Id like a controller PH, Temp etc..with logging and wireless capability's Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Dave's Nanobox Mini Tide for the light, and Apex for the controller. Just my $0.02. Lots of great reviews here on NR and I'm very happy with both.

Yep, Nanobox Mini Tide. Or a Kessil A150. Or an AI Prime (coming soon). Or a Maxspect Nano Razor. What else can I think of off the top of my head....oh, one of those Reef Breeders Nano-Lites. Oh heck, maybe even a quality quad or 6 bulb T5 units. :) Lots of choices out there nowadays with good reviews on here! Hardest thing will be to pick just one.

Thanks for the suggestions! . Theirs just so many lighting option's to chooses from I really want to go a with MH but with this size tank I think the evap rate would be too much. And I am trying to get a light combo I could later use on the Elos Midi or one that will do the job needed and be cheap enough I wont miss later down the road. This is one part of the Hobby I don't miss Lighting is so controversial and not cheap. I gone through all the waves of technology with reef lighting from T5,VHO,CF,MH now its LEDs what's next?

The most affordable with enough lighting power would probably be the Nano-Lite, I think they run like $130 without the mounting unit, then you would just need to figure out a way to hang it above your tank. They are rated to 18" cubes, so that would work on your future Elos Mini. It states on their website the 50 watt LED output of it is equivalent to a 75 watt Metal Halide. Just a thought, you are welcome to choose whichever you like best. :)

How about you wait for the AI PRIME? It looks promising with WIFI built right in and no controller needed, just your phone or a pc.

If you're looking for value, i would go with the maxspect nano for $260. It gets good reviews and comes with a mounting solution...If money isn't an option, i would go with the ecotech XR15.

Take placement of the aquarium into account as well. If it's in the living room or somewhere that you don't want to be blinded by the light, i would consider a light with good optics so you don't get tons of light flooding into the room.
