k4ndyk1ng
the reason they're so prolific is that they can switch from hermatypic to simply surviving off plankton growth, so even a lights out period doesn't deal with them in the same way it clears algae In my LFS they have a dark tank with 1 aptasia thriving Link to comment
markalot
If you are keeping aptasia you might as well set up a Berghia farm and make some money. Best aptasia predator and really a beautiful nudibranch. Link to comment
Dr.Brain Coral
Hmm I didn't know that. Thanks for informing me Link to comment
hypostatic
ugly +1. I just think they're unpleasant to look at, and they throw off the look I'm trying to achieve with my tank. When I had them, I did NOT see them kill everything they touched. But then again, I didn't have them for long. I don't think Aiptasia would do good in a dark tank as they are Photosynthetic. They don't grow or multiply with no light. But to build on what was previously mentioned, if there is some OTHER food source they can get to, they'll grow/multiply just fine as NPS Link to comment
amphipod
So any ideas on an actual growth rate (with numbers) of aiptasia like how much per month on average And also kinda rude to call me a troll Link to comment
