To QT or not to QT. Here we go again

Alright so I'm getting a pair of pearly jawfish this upcoming week. I have been reading a bunch of conflicting, confusing info on wether or not to qt a jawfish..... Some say that without a sand bed, it's going to cause more stress, some say go ahead and use a sand bed in the qt, some say don't use one because of the meds... Others say because of the jawfishs thick slime coat, they are less susceptible to parasites etc.... Bottom line, I have a qt set up available so it's not big deal to run one, I just want what will be better for the fish.

Opinions are like a*holes, everyones got one, what's yours?

Barebottomm tank, HOB filter, simple led light, pieces of PVC for hiding. And done. :)

Oh yeah, I'm not worried about how to set up the qt, that I have under control. My question is more along the lines of will it do more damage than good?

It's always good to QT, so i say it will do good.

Regarding Sand. No sand works best. Sand is not beneficial in a QT. In the case a fish comes with a disease, i.e. Ich. Meds or the disease can infect the sand. Once the fish is free of ich or dead, the sand becomes useless as you will have to throw it away. Re-using the sand will stress the future fish with the meds or disease that stayed trap in the sand.

Remember that a QT is meant to be a temporary tank. Not a well stablised tank.

Basically, set up QT, use it, then store away til next time.
