Having hard time choosing tanks, input greatly appreciated!

I haven't been in the hobby for a while besides having my BC14. I only have one fish inside, but I've been meaning to upgrade. I'm looking into the Innovative Marine Fusion 30L as well as the 57 deep blue edge. I have been reading lots of posts, but I'm not sure about how I feel going back to an All In One. I know with the 57 gallon I'll be able to add a sump and do as I please, but with the All In One I think I might have limitations. What do you guys think?

I was debating both of those along with 10 other tanks lol. All I can say is if you do the 57 I'd get the non reef ready and drill it. In pics it looks like the big overflow in the middle of tank would take alot of real estate and limit scape ideas

Sweet. Just to clear things up the CAD lights tank isn't an all in one right? Would it be a better decision compared to the IN Fusion 30L and 57 gallon DB Edge?

Personally, I'd find an AIO too limiting. I'd want to upgrade most of it immediately, and if I were going to do that, I might as well buy a non AIO. As for which non-AIO you get, it's really all personal preference. I'd suggest looking through tank threads (the FTS thread is great for this), and figuring out what you like (and can afford). Do you like tall or shallow tanks? Deep or thin? Large or small? Square or rectangular? It's a very personal thing. Doesn't matter how nice a cube is if you don't like cubes...

Depending on the size CADs can either be AIO or sumped. We have an IM 24 and I wish we had gone a different route (non AIO tank).

Go with the biggest nonAIO you can fit and afford/ feel comfortable maintaining.

I agree with Chris. One thing to consider is when saying "as big as you can afford", it doesn't mean get a 100 Gallon tank that's done on the cheap. Much of the low end reefing stuff only ends up costing you twice as much and 10x the heartache. I would sacrifice size any day for quality. Doesn't mean you have to have the Bentley but it does mean you do not want the Yugo.

So...to answer your question....a tank with near 40 Breeder dimensions is hard to beat if you have the right spot.

EDIT: The CAD tanks come with some questionable equipment, IMO

Yeah definitely alot more to this hobby affordability wise then the tank itself, even the "bentley" tanks are cheap in comparison to the rest of the stuff and long term care for the most part ;) But I agree quality over "quantity".

Cad lights makes both aio and sumped systems the link I posted should take you to their sumped tanks, the artisan series

Yes I checked those out and they look very promising as far as the non AIO's go. Do you think Cad lights is a better choice? Im basically in between two now.

What do you think about the Deep Blue Edge?

So what two are you deciding between now cad and ? I have seen cad and they are definetly stunning they are basically reef ready sumped systems in technicality they are aios as you buy it and you have everything. I don't quite know about questionable equipment master builder, but their aio tank accessories aren't necessarily that great but definetly pretty good, then again most nano skimmers etc aren't very efficient. I'm in full support of the cad tank. It has ultra clear glass and as long as you know how to read instructions you can put together the included plumbing. Buy a light sand and live rock and your basically ready to go.

Check out this thread and scroll down to the sumped artisan category to see some examples of systems in use and ask the owners any questions. http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/347970-the-cad-lights-index-thread/

Also is say that the skimmer you get with the package is pretty good and traditional.

I'm pretty much the cad lights and the 57 Deep Blue Edge. I drawn towards the DB for some reason it looks so nice, but then again I haven't seen the cad lights in person.

Owners of both aquariums love them. I really do not think you can go wrong either way. I say go with your gut feeling and pick that option. This coming from someone who is trying to figure out what LED fixture to place above my new Fusion 30. Good luck!

This exactly make a chart of your most needed or desired things in a tank, like price, quality, aesthetics, upgradability etc and then rank each tank on these from one to ten then tally their total and it should help you figure out which you will enjoy more.
