ps2cho
I got a small emerald crab today and he keeps flipping himself onto his back and can't get back over. I've flipped him over 5x so far today. Is he going to be a problem child? Link to comment
CatfishSoupFTW
well... sounds like quite the gem. BUDUM CHAAAAA no idea though. hahaha Link to comment
patback
How did you acclimate? Sounds like its on its way out from a rapid change. Link to comment
ps2cho
I just did some water changes from their tank to mine over an hour period. And again check the tank and he's upside down. Hope he makes it.... Link to comment

Halo_003
I'd say consider yourself lucky you won't have to catch it later on. Link to comment

spaceheater
I'd say consider yourself lucky you won't have to catch it later on. Agreed, I had a terrible experience with my emerald and red mithrax crabs eating polyps and attacking the goby Link to comment
ps2cho
My last emerald was fine....I just starved him, and the rest of my tank to the brink of death. I'm recovering from that now and readding my CUC. I was expecting to find him dead this morning, but hes alive! I might have got lucky. The first 24hrs have gotta be the live or die. Maybe he will make it. Link to comment
Halo_003
Agreed, I had a terrible experience with my emerald and red mithrax crabs eating polyps and attacking the goby After mine killed my firefish in its bolt hole, I gave it to a LFS. Now I only keep snails in my cuc. Link to comment
ps2cho
I've read though that they will only do that if they are hungry. Link to comment
D Z
Be careful......I added one hoping it would eat some algae I was dealing with. It did eat the algae, and my favorite blasto. And there was definitely still plenty of other food in the tank for it, so it did not turn to the blasto because of a lack of food. Get it out of your tank while you still can. I really do not understand why we still consider any of the mithrax crabs to be reef safe..... Link to comment

I fed mine formula 2 and the little leftover bits of mysis and brine shrimp from feeding the goby and pistol. They were just aggressive toward the fish and polyp corals. Link to comment
Halo_003
Yep mine also ate zoas but one day I saw it on the sand, scooped it up in a jar and donated it to a LFS. Trapped it in the jar in 10 seconds using a chopstick to chase it in. It was an unhappy crab. Link to comment
ps2cho
You guys were right. Came home today and he is eating my red planet polyps. Maybe I had the weird one before that wouldn't touch corals. Guess he's going back to the store. Will throw him in my QT tank for now. Link to comment
Jackal_Knight
Wow you guys have terrible luck with crabs, both emerald crabs I've had behaved themselves other than eating some macro algea which is to be expected. Same with my hermits I just think crabs are cool to watch. Where your crabs females or male? I read some where that males crabs were more likely to cause trouble. Both crabs I've owed where female Link to comment
