Plumping Cleaning...

I have some plumping that I want to clean in my Nuvo Nano 8. Its been about a year since set up and I am sure there is some build up in there (and I can see some in connector from sump and display).

Would something like this work? Any recommendations?

I usually pull the pump and tubing every 3 months, and use a brush like you linked to and scrub out the tubing. You could also just push some paper towel pieces through with some skinny, long stick or such. No need to go out and buy something - unless you want too.. After 6 months, I replaced mine with new tubing, which I found at Home Depot.

I also disassemble the pump, remove the impeller and use a toothbrush to get the brown buildup off everything. I usually scrub the walls of the back chambers to get the big buildup of sponges and such off (no need to make it spotless - it's just going to come back)

Soak it in straight vinegar for 15-30 min and just run the pump while in some RODI water...it pretty much looks brand new when you're done. The pipe cleaner work also help.

Good point about the vinegar. The slimy stuff comes off easy - but vinegar is great for removing the white calcium spots..

I broke down my skimmer and soaked everything in vinegar overnight and it really does look like new.

Thanks for the input. I have a Nuvo 8 and there is 1 piece of plumbing that is on teh tank (between pump chamber and display) that has some build up.

Thanks Guys!
