aviator300
I got a small piece of live rock approx 2 months ago and right away i noticed a very small patch of leaves growing on it. I posted photos and someone said it was Sargassum. Well, it's grown significantly in a little 1/2 gal pico tank I have. It looks kind of cool and i'd like to encourage its growth if appropriate Soooo, Can anyone confirm what it is, its growth habits and care. I'm trying to decide if its a good guy or a pest. If its a good guy (sorry gals), I may add it to my 17.1 gal tank. Both pics are of same clump with slightly different color rendering. Link to comment

Lynaea
I've never seen sargassum but that stuff is super cool! It definitely needs more space to show off Link to comment
LikeButtuh
Definitely a Sargassum sp. they generally grow pretty slow and love light! Water flow, I've found they do better in higher flow areas. The flow helps keep micro algae from covering there leaves and starving them of light. Hair algae LOOOOOVES Sargassum sp. as a substrate.
