whoyah
I would like to get some suggestions on fish for my 8 gallon. I have a small yasha in the quarantine. I would like to add another one or two fish that will be active in the top part of the tank. I was thinking of a royal gramma or fire fish but I wondering if they may be to big, The small gobies are awesome but I have no personal experience with them. Maybe a Hector goby? Neon blue? Trimma? Eviota? I will probably have to order any of the gobies with the except of the Neon Blue. Link to comment
Tamberav
Hector gobies have special diets so don't get one of those. You can probably get away with a gramma or firefish but I wouldn't do both. A safer bet is the small gobies, most are very easy to care for, eat like sharks so not much you will need to know. whoyah
Thanks for the heads up on the Hector. The gobies look cool, I am just not sure about ordering a fish I never seen before. Any thoughts on trimma versus eviota? Link to comment
Mirya
Curious myself, since I may eventually get my Yasha a fishy tankmate in my 8G. How much are the trimmas or eviotas in the water column? A lot of the pictures I see of them they seem to perch. Also, slight hijack... how would a White banded possom wrasse or Tanaka's pygmy wrasse do in this type of tank? Link to comment
Rollermonkey
It would be OK to keep one of the Pygmy wrasse in an 8g with a yasha, but you'd be maxed out and need to carefully stay on top of parameters. Things can go south very quickly in a heavily stocked nano. I'd lean more towards a clown goby. The lower activity levels would do you well in the long run. Link to comment
whoyah
Thanks for the suggestion of the pygmy wrasse. Interesting looking fish. I am pretty sure I have never seen one before.. Link to comment
Nanofreak79
I'd stick to the yasha and maybe a clown goby. I like to add different inverts to help diversify the tank and add some more movement. Link to comment
whoyah
Any suggestions on inverts? Link to comment
Arkayology
Any suggestions on inverts? peppermint shrimp, pom pom crab, pistol shrimp, emerald crab are all good choices. Link to comment

whoyah
I am planning on getting a red striped pistol shrimp to go with my Yasha goby. I like the looks of sexy shrimp, pom pom crab, and maybe a porcelain crab. Thanks for the suggestions. Link to comment
whoyah
A little update, I picked up a candy cane pistol shrimp and a Yasha goby for my nano awhile ago. The pistol shrimp is great addition to the tank. Very active and busy. The Yasha on the other hand is questionable. He spent 2 weeks in quarantine, being happy, healthly and eating well. I added him to the nano and he just disappeared down in to the shrimp's hole. I saw him the second day for a moment . No sign of him for a month. My gut says he is dead, so I picked up a Orange Strip Prawn Goby (Amblyeleotris randalli) the other day and added him to the nano. Still a little shy but active. I figured that if the Yasha was still alive then maybe the Orange Strip would lure him out. If not then I had a replacement. Link to comment
