This is the light that I am going to be talking about today. The Fluval Sea Nano LED lighting system. For many people that have smaller nano tanks, finding the right light that will allow them to grow some of the higher light requiring corals is a hard task. Sometimes just reading all of the technical nonsense that might have a little bit of information in it that actually pertains to what you are looking for can be a daunting task. So let me dive right on into this.

around where I lie there is a couple of fish stores that actually use the full size variant of these leds for their display tanks, as well as a local aquarium that has a couple smaller reefs. I was surprised to see it, but they actually looks amazing, and that is what made me think of getting them and trying them out.

Pros:

This light is a full spectrum light of 25k. Reds/blues/whites. Everything you need for good coral production life.

It is small, and light, and has a slide mount, so that you can extend it farther over the tank, or even out of the way, allowing you to access your tank easier without having to remove an awkward hood.

Very good seal, and no electrical wires are exposed, so this allows for no shock or shortage if the light gets wet.

It does have a lower price tag on it than a lot of the competitors that you can go with.

The look of the light is very sleek, and the imprint of it is very small.

Low Energy requirements

50,000 hours of life in the light. This means you don't have to buy those pesky t5 bulbs all of the time.

Cons:

The mount on this light is a black pipe, that you insert into a flat sided pipe which has an adhesive side on it. Don't get me wrong, the adhesive is pretty strong. (I had it stuck to my hand for 5 good minutes.) But if you don't get it against a flat surface (For example if you have a lip on your aquarium,) It will just fall into the tank. You have to find another way to mount it. It is almost a requirement.

Only good up to moderate light levels. High level light requiring corals may or may not like it, depending on placement.

Cats love to play with it. So mount it well.

Recommendation:

If you are starting a new smaller tank, and your budget is tight, I do recommend this light, however please note that again, your coral selection will be limited to low-moderate light requiring corals. It's also a really good looking light, and in my opinion, makes everything in the tank look night as well.

(More to come as the tank advances along.)

(If you have any questions about the light let me know and I will be more than happy to add them to the review and answer them to the best of my ability.)

Is this basically the same light as their nano plant led? Did they just add more blue and whites. Im running the plant one over a nano macroalgae and think about upgrading to this light instead.

Just purchased one of these lights to overhaul my fluval chi. Its 6.6 gallons 16" deep.... Do you think it'll penetrate enough for some easy softies? Nothing major just to add color and movement. Also expected to include a clown. Thoughts or suggestions are more than welcome

Thanks,
