eksblenny
Before I go on I want to say i absolute love this tank! It also didn't hurt that communication with Mike was a very pleasant experience. This is an outstanding deal, and I hope Mike offers a similar deal again on Nano-Reef. I received one of the "prototype" temperate AIO tanks w/ chiller specials that Mike was offering in the Sponsor Specials section. This is a 2.5g pico with chiller and pump installed. It is only 3/8" thick however I am going to turn this into a temperate tank since the weather never gets too hot here in the San Francisco Bay Area. The tank has excellent construction and looks very professionally done with a black false wall, flame polished edges, pre-installed chiller, return pump, overflow with teeth, and a handly little rack for stuffing something like filter floss. There are two 3/8" tops that are also included to keep the temperature a bit more stable and prevent excess evaporation. Very minimal bubbling in the acrylic seams and weld-on residue on some of the edges but they don't compromise the tank in any way and still a better job than the majority of acrylic tanks I've seen and most definitely not at this value. There are two is one minor niggle that I noticed: (1) Because the water level is so high, putting my hand in the tank displaces the level enough that water splashes out if I am not careful. (simple solution, just turn off the pump and the water level in the display lowers to match the level in the filter chamber) (2) Because the lids completely cover the tops of the tank (except for a small cutout for cords), it is impossible to mount a rim-mounted LED light. That's too bad because most pico LED lights out there have to be rim-mounted. I'd suggest a small slit in the overflow lid to allow for a rim-mounted light but minimize temp gain/evaporation. SushiYum
Looks great! Using a lower flow pump will also lower the water line Link to comment
SushiYum
Its still would over flow if u stuck ur hand in. I would suggest just turning off the pump b4 you stick your hand in Link to comment
eksblenny
I didn't even think about it but you're right, turning off the pump eliminates the problem since the water level lowers to match the water level in the filter chambers! Thanks! Link to comment
Veng
Looks great. What are you going to do about ATO? Link to comment
eksblenny
Looks great. What are you going to do about ATO? There shouldn't be much evaporation since there are lids for both the display and filter chamber (the display lid is not shown in the pic) and because of the fact that coldwater tanks don't evaporate as much as tropical tanks. For now I'll probably do topoffs manually to save costs. Link to comment
slidinstar
Any progress? Just curious if you've tried it out and determined its effectiveness at maintaining the temps close to 55 degrees. Link to comment
Micro-Reefs Aquariums
This is my first run on acrylic fabrication. Micro-Reefs sole manufacturer left the state in Jan 2013 and Micro-Reefs took a devastating blow and I tried to turn to other manufacturers here in our area and after 3 rejections, I made an impulsive decision to purchase all the equipment to fabricate myself. 1/2 year later with professional equipment at my disposal and a wealth of new knowledge, I have given Micro-Reefs a complete turn around and sales are picking up! Owning the company and thus designing my own line of tanks with fabrication by me, means my line of tanks will change every 6 months, something that was really hard to do with another company manufacturing your aquariums. I am as was in the start committed to all my fans and promise to support you guys/gals to the best of my ability. Once again, I thank you for supporting me in my new endeavor, with time my fabrication will only get better, I promise! Sincerely, Mike Guerrero CEO/Owner Micro-Reefs LLC Link to comment

AquaticEngineer
Dont know if you ever found a suitable light for this tank or not, but we did one up with this light FLuval light and it fits AWESOME! Double stick mounts to the back and swivels out of the way easily for access to the main tank and the rear filter and the dimensions of the light are perfect for over this tank with the directional LED's. http://www.petco.com/product/122157/Fluval-Sea-Marine-And-Reef-LED-Nano-Aquarium-Lamp.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch Link to comment
