Mr. Microscope
Hello All, I've been thinking about covering up one of the white LEDs on my PAR38. I have my light as high as I can get it, and want to take out a little intensity while increasing the blue. I also don't want to start a fire or damage anything. I was thinking about taping a piece of cardboard over one of the lenses. What do you think? I know it would look ghetto, but I'm going for the simplest solution here. (I thought about using coins, but I'd hate to think what would happen if one fell into the tank. Also, I imagine a metal coin would probably heat up too much.) I was also thinking about putting small disks of something (maybe cardboard) over the center of the both white lenses, hense partially blanking both of them while allowing some light to get through on the edges. I'm going for safety + results. Feedback? Link to comment
junyoungmin
I would think cardboard over time would maybe not catch fire but burn to a crisp. What about those really tiny square tiles from lowes or home depot. They might be a little heavy but the heat wouldnt damage it and you could safely use it forever. Hth Link to comment

evilc66
Electrical tape. I use it frequently when I'm testing things on my PAR38s. Link to comment
Mr. Microscope
Just straight electrical tape, or using it as an adhesive? Do you think it will hold up long term? Link to comment
evilc66
Just electrical tape. I would think that it would hold for a long time, as the temperatures it would see shouldn't break the adhesive down that bad. Link to comment
gulfsurfer101
Good idea, to chime in on that we sometimes use heat tape for industrial construction. I'm pretty shure you can find som at lowes or home depot. Looks like electrical tape but specifically made to hold up to ungodly hot temps with out any adhesive comprimise. Link to comment

I'm thinking about a 7-10mm circle in the middle of both white lenses. Good idea, to chime in on that we sometimes use heat tape for industrial construction.
