Here is a good article on Disaster Readiness.

Here is a good DIY power back up unit for cheaper than a generator. Abs got any links of the unit you talked about? If I go generator I'm going with a unit sitting outside my room. :)

A generator is the way to go if you have multiple tanks (me). Otherwise I'd stick with insulating the tank, adding Penn-Plax B11, and praying.

Speaking of which I wonder if my insurance will be pay for live stock lost during an ice storm...

I keep a large water-cooler bottle in the fish room, and empty my pocket change into it every day.

Abs: any thoughts on locating a crappy NO lightstrip to run off that? Guaranteed to be able to find a few for cheap.
