Do you just go off the same chart for KH to tell the alkalinity level? Is KH just another way of saying alkalinity? I just want to be sure I am doing it right! Thanks! Link to comment
colberag Posted May 28, 2008 Share Posted May 28, 2008 KH stands for carbonate hardness, which is basically the measure of calcium carbonate and bicarbonate in the water. And yes KH is the measure for alkalinity. Link to comment
Sexy Shrimp Posted May 28, 2008 Share Posted May 28, 2008 Its a drop by drop test. You count the drops till the colour change (blue to yellow) then read off the scale in the instructions. But basically 8 drops = 8 dkh, just use the scale if you want mq*** whatever the unit is.... Link to comment

colberag Posted May 28, 2008 Share Posted May 28, 2008 Just to clarify what I said earlier - dKH, meq/L, and ppm (KH/GH) are three different units for an alkalinity measurement. The conversion is: 1 meq/l = 2.8 dKH = 50 ppm CaCO3 Link to comment
