Pship
Hey everyone, I am getting back into the hobby and setting up a 24 gallon Nano Cube. I am going to use about 30 lbs or live rock and live sand. Lighting I plan to go hoodless and use a a 20" SunPod 150w HQI with a Pheonix 14k bulb with 6 moonlights. Hopefully I will soon be adding two of evils LED actinics. Powerhead Marine EcoTech Vortech MP20 (turned on at about 65% on Reef Crest mode) Return Pump Mag1200 Skimmer Sapphire Aquatics NC24, placed in the second chamber Refugium or Media Tray StevieT's underwater light in the first chamber with a custom chamber cover so no light bleeds out. This will be in the first chamber the chaeto will be on top of filter floss which will be on top of ~2lbs of LR rubble. Cooling 2 120mm computer fans to blow into the third chamber. I will be designing a acrylic bracket to look the fans in place since they will be blowing directly into the chamber. Heating 100w Hydor Heater Controller I will be getting a ReefKeeper Lite 3 to control everything in the tank. I will be attaching a float valve to it to use as an auto top off. I plan on doing weekly 5 gallon waterchanges. Every Sunday evening. Link to comment
skydive
Why a Mag 1200? Seems like a lot of flow for a 24g and if it's submerged wouldn't that heat it up quite a bit? Just wondering Heater - you might want to up that to a 75w or 100w and might I suggest a Visi-Therm Stealth - shatterproof Link to comment
Psychosis
Also, I'd reccomend an MP20, in case you decide to uprgrade. You can dial it back to get the same flow as an MP10. If you're getting an expensive power head, might as well be sure you can use it for a long time. You'll definatly need a stronger heater. Link to comment

Pship
Finally got around to getting some pics up. Got some goodies today from Marine Depot; Marineland Carbon & SunPod Legs (so the light can finally be lifted off the tank). I also got my Vortech MP20 & ReefKeeper Lite 3 from SoCalTropicalFish, Tom always hooks it up with hard to find items hes a great guy! I also picked up the underwater refugium light the StevieT sells. This thing is sweet for the nano, so no stripping paint off of the back to set up a huge light behind it. I built a cover for the refugium chamber so that light wont bleed out at night. It took awhile to build but it works great! I figure that it also might help with evaporation which we all know is a huge plus! Here is a pic of the light on with the clear cover over the bulb. Here is the rear chamber with the cover over it and the light on, cant even tell the light is on. I love it. Finally here are the fans that I am going to be using. I will be placing them over the third chamber to keep the tank cool. I will be building a fixture to place over the fans so I will be able to place my Eheim Auto Feeder on top of. The fans are simply ziptied together right now until I am able make the proper fittings for it. Link to comment

Paleoreef103
I think it is going to work out great! Can you forsee any problems happening with it? The only one I can think of is detritus getting trapped by the chaeto. It may not happen, but I use the chamber for floss and chemical media and a lot of crap get stuck in the floss. Just something to think about. Link to comment

icsd71
Looks good. Love the frags! I have to order almost everything over the internet. Our LFS do not cary hardly anything in corals. Mostly fish. So it would take me for ever to order that much stuff. Link to comment
