basser1
As some of you know, I'm nuts about my BSJF, (I know, I'm just plain nuts)! I also belong to the Bluespot Club over on Reef-Sanctuary.com. There is a member there, bluespotjawfish, that has a pair of BSJF! The male has been "flashing" his colors for some time. And more recently, the female has shown interest in him. She has posted some terrific videos of the breeding. Here is a link to a couple of videos: http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z113/bl...in_BJ_Den_1.flv http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z113/bl...ing_Behavio.flv I think this is gret news considering there may be tank raised BSJF soon! Bonsai
Those happen to be the breeding color of the male bluespot. Pretty awesome isn't it? Wow - they change color when they're ready to breed? Is there a way to sex them otherwise? I've been curious is mine is male or female. Link to comment
Mini_GBR
That is amazing. Make does babies!!! Link to comment
basser1
I don't think there is any way to sex them other than trial and error. The owner has had this pair for about a year and she has a 90 gallon tank. They stayed on opposite sides of the tank. The male would flash on occassion, but the female showed no interest until recently. BSJF are mouth breeders, so the male will incubate the eggs in his mouth. The owner lives in the San Antonio area and says there is an LFS that orders BSJF in pairs! BTW, while watching the vids, did you notice the "Not For Sale" sign?? Link to comment
m'akoyPINOY
nice video!it looks like the female is pregnant! Link to comment
basser1
nice video!it looks like the female is pregnant! I think this is exciting news! For a long time BSJF have had a reputation of being a fragile and sensitive fish to keep. Imagine being able to buy tank raised BSJF! Link to comment
The_Yellow_Pony
I love it... The BSJ's are quickly becoming my favorites! Link to comment

javisaman
Yea a lot of threads on BSJ and clownfish as of late. I've noticed the price of BSJ dropping and their availability increasing. Hopefully tank-bred ones will continue this trend. Link to comment
Bluespot
BJ and the Misses (my Bluespot pair in the video) wanted to stop in and say hi!. About two weeks before this event, the female was obviously fat with eggs. A few hours after this event, no more eggs. Link to comment
Bluespot
Yip, I agree they are awesome. Bluespots are more plentiful and cheaper this time of year. So, now is the time to buy if you are ready. Link to comment
