It's tiny, the forked head is maybe an 1/8" wide and the rest is like a thick sewing thread size that gets thinner as it gets longer. It comes out of a tiny pin hole and inches it's way along the rock. So far I've seen it stretch out about 1-1/2" from the hole. It can quickly retreat back if spooked. Link to comment

Though we speak in general terms of "spoon worms," (worms in the Echiurid family or whatever level taxon that is), the only one that ever seems to be identified is Bonellia viridis. I don't know if there are other members of this family that may hitch into our tanks or not. If yours is B. viridis, I guess it will grow quite a bit. Why don't you keep us updated? There may not be a lot of data out there on minute spoon worms yet. --Diane Link to comment
