fgarbrec
This is my first attempt at a small reef, although I have kept larger reef tanks since about 2005. I wanted to keep things as simple and self-contained as possible (no plumbing, no sump, no skimmer), and therefore decided on a Cadlights 8G all in one tank. The overflow compartment has three sections into which I keep activated carbon, purigen, chaeto, and filter floss. I am using the stock return pump (I forget what its gph rating is). I did upgrade the stock LED lighting to a full spectrum PAR38 lamp attached via a gooseneck clamp. I plan to keep primarily Ricordea, mushrooms, and zoas perhaps with the occaisional LPS or SPS thrown in. Hardware Cadlights 8G with stock pump InTank Fuge light Hydor 25w Heater (unplugged because the lighting alone keeps the tank at 80oC) Refractometer Maintenance 10% water changes weekly (Reef Crystals) Monitor alkalinity, nitrate, phosphate, calcium Inhabitants About 8 pounds of purple live rock Cleaner shrimp Clown Six line wrasse Miscellaneous zoas, mushrooms and Ricordea Green Monti cap The tank is a little over a month old now. Here's a FTS And a closer view of the rock: Blue star polyp rock Whammin watermelon zoas Blue yellow Ric Link to comment
fgarbrec
Thank you. Long way to go but the journey and anticipation of creating a beautiful marine garden is half the fun, no? Link to comment
