I can't wait to get some coral in this tank! I decided to set it up as a mini peninsula style tank. The coral will be ALL zoas/palys in as many shapes, sizes, and colors as possible (gives me an excuse to expand my collection...). I will also be trying a bare bottom tank and seeing if I can get a carpet of zoas to grow along the bottom. FTS - 3/30/2019: Current Equipment: Tank - Hidoli AZ-712-01 ...? Hello Reefers! John here, getting ready to start a new build. For a few months I have been drooling over the idea of doing something like Joshporksandwich over at Reef2Reef and going with a Zoa/Paly only tank. I seem to always have better luck with zoas in the past than anything else, so it just makes sense for me really. Also, my local fish store got some Zoomed Lowboys in for the remodeling of the shop and I was able to snag one for a discount since they purchased so many at once. This post will serve as the equipment/feeding/livestock list and the full tank shot. This is going to be fun, enjoy the ride! Hey everyone, I wanted to make a build thread for my fairly new Evo 5 because this is my first Pico tank (smallest previous was a 29 biocube) and I would like to hear some tips and feedback on what I have so far. Current Setup: Fluval Evo 5 gal. roughly 10lbs live rock 1.5”-2” Sand bed AI Prime HD about 12” over tank (will post pic of settings) stock pump adjustable heater set at 79 degrees stock filter media: sponge, bag of carbon and bag of biomax. I also added a bag of Purigen. livestock: two damsels, 1 blue leg hermit, 4 astrea snails, assorted zoa frags. I started the tank tank a little over a month ago using water and rock from my local lfs system. ive been doing 5% water changes twice a week and testing for PH, nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, calcium, kh, and phosphate. I slowly added snails and then the damsels later. After about 2 weeks my parameters were all coming out great, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, etc all at zero and PH at about 8.0, calcium around 400 ppm. The zoas that came with my live rock had opened and at 3 weeks I had 5 polyps. Since then I’ve been slowly adding zoa frags that have all done great so far some are even growing. I’m really debating wether I should put a sump in under the tank or just leave it how it is. Let me know what you guys think!
