In the last 4 years, my 20g tank has logged more than 2,000 miles in 5 different moves, has visited 8 different states, and two of those moves were half way across the country. Needless to say, this has taken quite a toll on the tank. It's been up and running in some state for some eight years now, and finally has a permanent home now that we've bought a house. With any luck, things will flourish, uninterrupted. SPS have been back in the tank a few months now and am hoping I won't have to sell them off and move again like I usually have to do! Equipment: Tank: Standard Petco $20 20g Tall - 24x12x16. Lighting: Radion XR30 Pro (G1) with upgraded wide-angle lenses @ 45% (Schedule: https://pastebin.com/c1PYMT4y) Flow: 1x MP10 and return pump @ 100% in Yellow Mode Sump: DIY 10g Standard Petco $10 10g - 20x10x12 with 2 chambers Skimmer: Bubble Magus C3.5, offline for months and my coral is loving the extra delicious organics ATO: Avast Marine with Aqualifter Temperature: Ranco 111000 Inkbird Controller connected to old titanium heater Overflow: HOB CPR CS50 with Aqualifter siphon and DIY float valve relay on return to prevent accidents Dosing: 1/4 - 1/3 gallon of 27.5% 42% saturated Kalk in RODI per day. Keeps Alk between 8.4 and 9.2 over the course of about 20 days., between 6 and 7 to slow down growth to make it manageable. Live Stock: Fish: 2x Percula Clowns and one Hoeven's/Melanurus Wrasse Coral: Acros, Montis, Acans, Favia, Stylo, Birdsnest, Merulina, Blastos, Chalice, Platygyra, Ricordea, Zoas, Palys Nems: Two RBTAs (mother and baby), 2x Mini-Maxis Everything has been set up for ease of maintenance and being able to run for a week if I'm travelling since the amount of time I have to dedicate to my reef comes and goes - after 8 years, I just want it to be as simple as I can get - no more experimenting with gadgets or fads, just simple, basic husbandry. It seems the only time I am working on my reef these days between work, climbing when it's warm and snowboarding when it's cold is when the weather is crappy and I'm stuck inside. After two of my beloved fish have passed away from brook, my gramma(the first fish to ever be in the tank), and my spriger’s damsel (she was a true spriger’s, very little black patches) I am now looking for fish that would not compete my Lubbock male for food and would not be out competed by my wrasse for other food. my choices currently: Neon goby pair(will move my breeding pair) Fang blenny flasher wrasse (group of different males) pacific blue eyes bicolor blenny radial filefish mysis eating harlequin files spriger damsel pair masked gobies knight gobies??? Other suggestions are very much welcomed

Hi all. ive been trying to plan fish for my 32 gal bio cube. I think a leopard wrasse would be awesome but some places say they’re really hard to care for. Why is that? Do they eat pellet/flake food or need live pods? Also some places say they’re listed as difficult because they struggle to survive shipping. Are they hardy once acclimated?

Hi all, and hi to the Nuvo 10 community! For the past year or so, I've been wanting a reef of my own, and I'm now addicted. I decided on the Innovative Marine Nuvo 10 for the compact size and transportability, given that I plan to take it to college eventually. As of the moment I am writing this, I currently have put the rock and sand into the tank, after cycling the rock for about 3 weeks in a 5-gallon bucket using Fritz Turbo Start. The sand is Fiji Pink, and the rocks are Walt Smith 2.1. I have the tank on the 10 gallon white JBJ Nano Cubey Stand, which looks really great with the tank. Equipment List IM Nuvo 10 Tank 10 Gallon White JBJ Nano Cubey Stand AI Hydra 26 HD (Modified AB+ Settings) Cobalt Neo-Therm 50 watt heater (best heater on the market) Sicce Syncra .5 Return Pump Vortech mp10wqd inTank Media Basket (Running inTank filter floss, 2 chemi pure blue nano packets, and 1 marinepure cube) Tunze Nano ATO (Not running a skimmer, I'm running 4 MarinePure cubes in the second chamber) Aquatic Life 100gpd RODI unit Tropic Marin Pro Reef salt (mixes extremely fast) Tank as of August 16, 2019. Just ordered a new fish for my Evo 🐠🐟🐠🎁🎉🎊(they sent me the wrong fish)

So they finally stocked some more yellow banded possum wrasse on Liveaquaria and I went ahead and decided this should be the next fish for me. He/she hopefully will arrive this Friday so now I’m anxiously waiting. His tank mate will be my citrinis clown goby who also came from Liveaquaria last year. I have a Pom Pom crab in the tank so I’m not sure how that will work out but from what I’ve read, the wrasse should leave it alone. I really hope this fish does well in my tank and gets along with my goby.- 35 replies

Does anyone have experience with Possum wrasse and Maxima Clams? I know cleaners, six-line, and a handful of others have been known to go after clam mantles, but I haven't been able to google-fu much info about the smaller species like four-lines and possums, that said a fair-few folks seem to swear up and down that "wrasse-are-wrasse" and will eat any invert they can.I did manage to find out that gobies on average don't work, never would have guessed lol, that said I also can't find anything about the micro-gobidae species like Trinimas.I keep seeing so much conflicting information I'm half-a-step from grabbing a swordtail-molly hybrid or some endlers' livebearers and acclimating them into saltwater, but my nano is high-flow so I'm not sure how well that would work out lol. I'm really just looking for a super-low bioload fish to keep in the tank for a touch of movement and to keep the biofilter going a bit stronger than my sloppy attempts at feeding the LPS haha.

Hi all, I am currently planning a 30 gallon (30"x18"x12") mixed reef w/ 20 sump and want to think about stocking so I can design the tank around the fish. I would like to have: 1 Mandarin dragonette (I will be breeding my own pods & brine shrimp FYI, in case I can't train him/her onto other food sources) 1 McCosker's flasher wrasse Any suggestions for peaceful fish that do not nip coral and are interactive/don't hide? I would like to have one more fish. Thanks!

Namaste All, My name is Wladimir Tsinguilev. I reside in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. Since I can remember birds (and later on ornithology,https://www.hbw.com/ibc/u/11943), everything related to nature and drums (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCln0m94H1_eYyW8pWCw-WLA/videos?view_as=subscriber) always fascinated me. Reefkeeping was something that I got acquainted with years later. I was attracted by the cornucopia of colors and vividness exposed in the photos available on the internet of all the coral colonies and marine fishes in the tanks and wanted to have a reef aquarium someday. As a kid I kept freshwater aquariums, bettas, turtles, parrots, dogs and cats but the reef aquarium was something unheard of back in the day in Bulgaria. As a matter of fact the first source on reefkeeping that I was exposed to was at 9 years of age at the library of the Institute of Ecology in Sofia. It was a German magazine called DATZ Aquarium&Terrarium and a lot of books on ornithology and nature. Books and magazines are still mandatory for me as of today and I do consider myself a bibliophile, even though we live in the age of the internet, computers and all the high tech paraphernalia. I started my little artificial slice of the ocean at the end of August of 2013 and the system is still running. It is a 20 gallon (45x45x40) mixed reef. On various occasions I changed and rearranged the aquascape, corals, fish and other inhabitants and today I am happy to say that I do not make waterchanges and finally got the perfect match as far as chemistry is concerned (ATI essentials 1,2and 3 is doing great for me). I will post photos in a chronological fashion as it was difficult to make a diary over the years, and I always thought it is very difficult to keep one in timely fashion. PART I The tank is rimless and the stand is made of glass. Wavemaker Hydor Koralia, live rock from Indonesia, a Centropygae flavicauda back at the center, Xenia sp., Caulastrea sp., Euphyllia, Feather duster, a Trochus snail and Carib sea sand bed. In the right corner there is a Wheeler's Shrimp Goby (Amblyeleotris wheeleri), a fish with great personality. A close-up of this nano inhabitant, suitable even for pico tanks. Nassarius snails patrolling the neighborhood, one of them is still with me to this day. This top-down perspective reveals the Chinese LED light. If my memory serves me well it was a 38W E27 bulb for €45, which served its puropse in the beggining with not so delicate corals in the system. Eventually the bulb fell into the water. Reason being, I did not have a decent gooseneck tank mount at the time and it was mounted through a common lamp clamp. Nobody perished so that was nice. I dismantled it just to see the lenses and what is inside. There is a Ricordea mushroom on top of one of the live rock. This photo reminds me of one of those pictures in my favourite magazine Marine Aquarist from Yokohama, Japan (in my humble opinion the best mag on reefkeeping). Sometimes it is made without any additional lights, just the flash of the camera and even without it. Because of my interest in angelfishes I decided to buy this book by the great Kiyoshi Endoh. My first (Trachyphyllia geoffroyi). PART II This is the tank in about two years from its conception. Added an extra flow through a Sicce wavemaker, bought my first SPS corals - a Branched montipora, Stylophora pistillata Purple Milka, Acropora sp., Millepora sp., Pink and green Birdsnest, Green Symphyllia radians from Indonesia, various zoanthids, a second Green Trachyphyllia, a blue Tridacna squamosa, two mini carpet anemones, a Echinophyllia sp., two clown fish Amphiprion ocellaris sp., and a female Blue Star Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon bipartitus) - another fish with great personality and behavior. A view of the glass stand with some of the products that I used at the time. The auxiliary plastic stand which is very convenient and easy to clean. For me cigars and reefkeeping go hand in hand. This Mandarinfish (Synchiropus splendidus) was eating artemia but did not survive. Acclimation. I never attached my corals to the live rock, which in my opinion is an interesting approach to reefkeeping, and I would relocate them from time to time. The Aiptasia-Eating Filefish (Acreichthys tomentosus) did a splendid work on erradicating the pest anemone and nowadays he is so lazy I barely see him picking at them. PART III

So I wen to a local LFS and noticed they had 2 wrasse. Both labeled as "flasher/ fairy wrasse". Now I can tell one is for sure not either a flasher or a fairy but appears to be closer to a Halichoeres Sp., but the other looks like a fairy but I couldn't ID it. Anyone know, or have a suggestion to what they could be?

HELLO everyone! This is my first post, and i'm genuinely curious to hear what you guys have to say about my 6 line wrasse.So currently I have a 10G FOWLR tank on my desk at work that's been cycling since October-ish, stocked with a royal gramma (Krang), 3 Stripe Damsel (Ruckus), Ocellaris clown (Juice) and a 6 line wrasse (Cream Corn). Krang has been in there for a month, everyone else has been in there for 2ish weeks. Before you rag on me for having 4 fish in a 10G tank, bear in mind that everyone gets along (except Krang, who gets a little territorial), and if **** should hit the fan or if anyone starts to get a little too big for the tank (they're all around an 1 inch big right now), I have a 280G waiting for them.Now back to the issue. Cream Corn the 6 line is by far my favourite fish. When I first introduced him to the tank, I was actually surprised to see him eat both pellets and frozen mysis immediately. But over the past few days, I've not seen him eat anything that I put in the tank. Mind you, my tank has very little algae and I'm currently running copper (it's a FOWLR so I honestly don't mind putting copper in the DT) and I have an ceramic aquascape rock instead of LR, so I doubt that there are any hitchhikers like flatworms or bristleworms. He's acting perfectly normal, zooming around and coming up to the glass and I can see zero signs of parasites on anyone. In fact, he's looking around and picking at stuff on the rock sculpture. The thing is, if he hasn't eaten anything at all since I got him, I'd understand that I have a sick/picky fish. However, I've seen him eat both the mysis and the pellets before, but now he's stopped and is scoping out stuff on the rock sculpture and gnawing at it. I've tried frozen mysis, brine shrimp and pellets. He's not fat, but he's definitely not starving either. All of them are super active. I'm just not sure what he's eating, and I want to make sure that he doesn't starve. At this point, I'm almost tempted to buy live tigger pods just to make sure that he's ok and I get some peace of mind. Is this normal? Do 6 line wrasses pick at diatom algae? Because I've definitely noticed that my diatom bloom has all but disappeared in my tank since he's been in here, and the only remaining bits that I can see are the ones that are in the direct path of my fan where none of the fish can reach. That's my only reasoning right now. Let me know if i'm doing anything wrong or if you have suggestions for irresistible 6 line food. I've included my parameters below juuuust in case. pH: 7.7 (stabilized at this level for 3 weeks. not going to raise this until I've finished running copper because I don't want to risk complications)dKH: 8Alkalinity: 2.85Nitrates: 5Phosphates: 010% water changes every 5-7 days. I'd also appreciate any suggestions on how to naturally raise my pH without using chemicals. I have plenty of surface movement, and if an airstone'll help, I'm open to getting one. What wrasse either grows to the smallest size or requires the least room as i have an innovative marine 25 gallon and want a wrasse. Other tank mates incluse 2 reef chromis 2 clownfish scoter blenny and a chalk bass there is a large anount of rock work sufficient fitration and lots of coral and hiding spots. Any recomendations?

Hey Nano reef, I just had a possible Stocking question about my tank I'd really like to get a 6 line as my 3rd fish in my DIY fusion IM 20. I really like the colors on the fish since the begining, as it'd match with my clown and TSB, But I have a few Concerns I cant seem to find a straight answer to online. Mostly I am concerned if it will bully my TSB. Whether during every day or punk it out during feeding time. As I understand it, the wrasse is generally peaceful but might attack crustaceans in your tank. As far as I am concerned on my hermits, I am upset with them as one has somehow got twice the size compared to the others and has started killing the others, even though same species, and I do not care for them anymore as CC (especially since I've seen them steal food from my blastos and ricordea's mouths.) I would only be concerned if the 6 line would attack feather dusters, brittle stars, or my snails. if anyone has experience with 6 line's predatory diet, can you please list what it has preyed on? The second part of the question is because my tank is a bit Open, Will my rockwork be suitable for it? It's the reason I chose not to get cardinals, shy, or fish that like alot of rockwork since I want to keep their habits in mind. Lastly, would it attack a possible 4th fish being neon goby or other tiny fish if they were added after? Anyways I really appreciate any imput, because i've been mulling on the next fish to add for a long time by now. here is a picture of the tank for reference of the rockwork.
