Alright, what's going on here? As you can see, the top candycane is puffy and happy and actively growing, and so are all the other corals in the tank, so I don't think it's a parameters issue. It's looked basically like this since I brought it home a month ago, and just never seems to have grown or looked better than it does right now. The bottom polyp also always has something coming out of its mouth. So what do we think? Too much light? Not enough? Too close to the other candycane? Predation? Disease? What's best course of action?

I have a green candy cane, one head. It seems very healthy and eats well but it shows no signs of splitting after several months. Has anyone had any luck encouraging a head of candy cane to split? Maybe a small slit through the mouth? Or supplements? I’m feeding reef roofs, baby brine shrimp, chunks of mysis and supplementing with Reef Trace. Or do I just need to be more patient?

Ive had this trumpet coral for about 3 weeks and one head has been opening fine but the smaller head (which looked like it was splitting when I purchased it) has rarely opened fully. The last few days it was been even more shriveled than before. It appears that one side of the split might have no mouth and I think you can see the skeleton in the middle - hard to tell in these photos? I also noticed the little branching clear thing on the base of the skeleton this week. Any ideas on what could be going on with this guy? Water parameters appear to be good other than nitrate, which is between 15-25 depending on how recent after a water change. Other corals are seemingly doing ok as well. Thanks! Edit - Could the white growth be some form of Aiptasia?
