I’ve been a long time nano reef creeper, but never put my own tanks online. just recently (January 2021) picked up a fluval evo and downsized my whole marine collection into only that nano to try and reboot my love for the hobby.. this is my resurrection if you will! I’m in England - if that makes a difference. my plan was to buy this low end all in one tank and just run it stock (except for media). But within a week of buying it I’d pretty much gotten rid of everything apart from the tank! started with: fluval evo live rock Tmc eco sand d flow filter baskets 1&2 tunze 1073.008 pump (never used stock pump) Eheim heater 2 x 1/4” random flow generators aqua one radiance 3 unit (my back up LED that I keep around. deciding on upgrade at mo) considering adding: top up - there isn’t a lot of room for it skimmer - undecided which. Do not want it in the first chamber where the purpose built one would normally go jump guard / lid heater controller Wave maker pic from beginning of February 2021

Hello, friends! My name is Platon, I am from Russia. Hello everyone, I'm a long time freshwater, planted aquarium hobbyist setting up my first saltwater/reef tank. I'm starting with a nano tank in my office at work because I have access to RODI water in our lab, and a nano tank is all I can fit inside my office. I went with the Fluval Evo 13.5 because I liked that it's an AIO and I prefer its dimensions over other peninsula tanks like the Waterbox Peninsula Mini. The fact that so many people have it is a bit plus because I know I'll have a lot of resources to turn to for help. I purchased the Evo on Amazon Prime Day, so I got a decent deal on it. The tank has been sitting in my office for months as I sort out the aquascape and wait for the tank upgrades to come in. I upgraded the stock pump with a Sicce Syncra 1.0, and upgraded the light with an AI Prime 16HD. I'm going to go with a mixed reef tank and will be using the WWC 24g Nano Reef Schedule: https://worldwidecorals.com/pages/led-lighting-presets. Lights will be off for the duration of the cycle, and I probably won't turn them on until I put in something that needs it. I've also purchased a SmartATO Lite, and media baskets from InTank for chambers 1 & 2. I'm planning on setting up a fuge in chamber 1 to help with nutrient export and be a home for copepods, and attached a chaeto light from Innovative Marine. I decided to go with dry rock and sand from Marco Rocks to avoid any unwanted hitchhikers. I'm patient and can wait for the nitrifying bacteria to colonize the rocks and sand. I'm also going to add copepods from AlgaeBarn as soon as the tank is cycled. I'll be doing my best to keep this journal updated, but the tank will be cycling for a few weeks. In the meantime, here are some photos of the tank as it is. I also ordered a Kraken Reef lid, which hasn't arrived yet.

Hey guys, my reef tank is now 10weeks old, i tried soft corals a month ago and didnt go well.. i'm trying to learn with it, and start checking regular for parameters and weekly WCs. Since then, i told myself that i would wait 2 or 3 months for adding another coral to the tank, and keep thinking if nitrogen cycle was going well for a month i would add a pair of clownfish Last week, i went to my LFS and choose 2 clownfish. The owner of the LFS said i should try corals once more and gave me a leather and a kenya tree. So, the pair of clownfish have 1-1.5 inches and are totally happy, . They are very silly fish, and love swim (and eat alot). I noticed some color changes, black fins showed up. Since my last incident i have worries about corals, the leather opened up for 3 to 4 days at full bloom, and closed up. i read that they shed, and i noticed old skin coming out. one day i got to see all polyps again and they shirink up next day (normal behavior?) is still shedding?. The kenya is a big one, with two branches and alot of polyps, they stretch out but the polyps never open up fully, they stay closed. In the rock of the kenya i got another surprise, a single polyp of a zoanthus (yey). a green one. Its opening every day and looks really happy. its a 10g tank, after the weekly WC i got: amonnia is at 0 nitrit 0 nitrates 5ml/l KH 8 Calcium 425 ph 8.4 salinity 1024 the only thing i had some problems is temperature, at stable 83. its been really hot days here (Sao Paulo-brasil, 34 celcius. ITS WINTER) i installed fans over the aquarium now the temperature its at 80.6 to 81.5 range. and i want to get it lower to 79.5 to 80.5 at the end of the week (i'm trying to do it over time not at once.) so should i worrie about the corals? is normal to kenyas not open fully?

Background So Tank was started in July, it all started with doing a water feature in the garden (a well with some goldfish), then a betta tank (aquaponics) for the office, then I came across the reef hobby, started googling galore, owned nothing and had every system dreamt up, i wanted to get a nano tank that would fit into my house with no upset and then if all went well and knew the hobby was for me, I would be able to upgrade down the line. I read an article, that was just spoke to me and it was based upon a book, so i found the book, bought it in hardcopy (the wife said was on the phone too much) and was locked in. Reef was gonna be definitely for me. I had a friend who was a long time fish enthusiast (tropical) and had just got into the saltwater game, FOWLER tank and then into corals and then sacked his tropical tank and upgraded to just one reef tank. Having a Reef Buddy has definitely made this journey even more enjoyable. So after reading the book, my brief was simple a nano tank that would fit on the table I already have, buy equipment which can be used in the next tank (modular etc) and hopefully i enjoy the hobby and if so upgrade to as big as tank I can (ie id love a 6ft peninsula with walk in room behind it, dividing the dining room and living room, but then id need a new house, most likely 200l, big enough tank but in scale with the room), and if i didn't well, well don't even need to finish the sentence. As its a great hobby! Goal Fully stocked stable Tank, once I Reach this target I will begin the journey all over again with most likely a 3ft sumped tank, then convince the wife we need a bigger house and its nothing to do with the fish. Tank Spec Start: July 2019 Display: Aquael Nano Reef Duo 49 Litre Rock: Aquanetta 2 Module display (ceramic), 2 live pieces (donated by friend) and some dry pieces Sand: CaribSea Aragonite Fiji Pink Sand 15LB Lighting: Stock , Zetlight 1201 x1 x 2 Heater: V2therm 50 Digital Heater 50w Wavemaker: APS 2500 Powerhead, Jebao SW-4 (running at 1000l),Jebao SLW-10 (3500lph) Filtration: Stock, HOB Canister Filter APS-500, Filter Media: Coarse Sponge, FIlter Floss, Seachems Matrix, Phosguard, CarbonMatrix ATO: Autoaqua Smart ATO Micro (4l res - Cereal Container) Testing: Salifert test kits (Alkalinity, Calcium, Nitrates, Phos) Dosing: Manual - Microbe-Lift Calcium, Saliferts KH Buffer, LaCl3*, Carbon (NitraPhos Minus)* Automatic - Single Doser - Kalk/Vinegar solution, Manual - Microbe-Lift Calcium*, Saliferts KH Buffer*, LaCl3* *if required I have been on quite the journey so far (including a bad crash), it is gonna be quite enjoyable going down memory lane to get yous up to date... Plan of Action: Monthly updates as part of my routine. July 2019

New tank is coming together!! Just added the nem, zoa and hammer. All are doing great, cant believe my luck so far in keeping everything stable. Started with the duncan and hairy mush the week before as testers. ATO to get the 10 gallon balanced and checking levels daily for now. Very excited I got into the hobby, especially when I'm now stuck at home in quarantine!

Hey guys! Setting up my first saltwater tank. It's a 10 gallon IM Fusion nano. Wondering if this powerhead placement will be ok. It's a koralia 425 + 95gph stock return pump (top right of pic). Trying to hide the PH in the back left, with return outlet top right. Flow hits front glass and swirls around. Will this do for a mixed reef tank? Planning on getting SPS eventually down the line. Thanks!!

I purchased this around 7 months ago, and it has absolutely exploded in size. So much so that it’s now too big for my nano..... I’m not confident when it comes to fragging so I’d like to find it a new home. I count 9 frags at 2+ inches each, not including the stalk. this thing is 8” tall and 7” wide when fully opened. Asking $125 local pickup. Frags should pull $300+

I received a white pom Pom Xenia last Friday from liveaquaria and I noticed there are little pieces of it in my sand bed now. Is it reproducing or do they fall apart? I figured if it was falling apart it would be picked up by the water flow in my tank but they appear to be anchored down.

So my toadstool seems like it’s shrinking. The edges are folding down so it might just be giving me the illusion of it shrinking because it’s covering the stem. Is this normal for a toadstool? It’s been doing this Id day for the past week. The polyps are still extending so I know it’s not shedding. I tried changing the flow but didn’t make much of a difference. My parameters are all up to par salinity is always constant at 1.024, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, ph is a little low at 8, and notates are at 5 ppm. Heres some before and after shots. Around the time I fist got it to now.

I'm not sure what these are. Bought them from a local refer and he said one was an octospawn. I did a google search but one looks like frogspawn.

Some Zoas/Palys(?). I have no idea what the names are. I tried looking online but I'm still at a loss.
