Hey all, I ran into a bit of an issue yesterday. I was making water through my RODI unit into a 5g bucket for a water change. I added some salt to the bucket while it was filling with water just to get it mixing faster. When I shut the water off though, the water line from the unit to the bucket was still submerged. Come this morning, my DI cartridge looks pretty much depleted. Yesterday, only 2” or so was amber colored. So really, I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to buy a new DI cartridge. My question is if I’ll have to replace the RO membrane as well. I can’t tell if that one is also now damaged. Any input would be great, thanks!

I’m really new to reef tanks and RODI. I just got an RODI system and I followed the instructions to flush the system and it seems to work fine. from the Clean water output in reading 0ppm TDS however when I put the water into water jugs I am reading 42PPM is this water still usable? Is this likely something from the water jugs I’m using? Or could it be something else?

Hello all! I will just be straight up and honest here, my saltwater tank uses tap water. now now, no need to yell at me, I know this isnt great, and now relize all the benifits of an RODI system, but I also realize the parts that arent so appealing. I am deffinitly investing in one, but what I really hate is the waste water, I know it has to have some way to get rid of the bad parts, but I am just concerned about how much water I would be wasting with one of these systems. assuming you guys are able to talk me into it, I a still not gonna buy like a 1k system, or even anything close, so here are a couple I was thinking of, what are the pros/cons of these systems in your mind? my first choice: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/4-stage-value-ro-di-system-bulk-reef-supply.html My second choice, it is a little buit cheaper but I dont know what I would be sacrificing in quality: https://www.amazon.com/LiquaGen-5-Stage-Reverse-Osmosis-Deionization/dp/B01FNAPGPA/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=rodi+system&qid=1597765745&sr=8-6

TIME FOR AN UPGRADE(EVO 12 to Reefer 170) additional equipment added😁
Mike P posted a topic in Beginners Discussion
I decided to finally purchase a bigger tank and pulled the trigger on a white Red Sea reefer 170 this morning. I decided to get it from saltwateraquarium.com since you can select a freebie. I’m pretty excited and can’t wait to transfer everything out of my evo to the new tank. I still need to purchase skimmer, return pump, heater, sand, and rock. Can anyone tell me what’s the best way to transfer my sand and rock to the new tank? I want to make sure everything is done correctly so I don’t kill anything and want to start planning already- 61 replies

hi, Im transitioning over from tap water to rodi water because I've heard that it's much better. but I need help because I've also read that I have to buy minerals to add to it. is that only in special occasions like for specific fish, or do I need to buy it ? let me know if I need to list my tank details or something. it's a fowlr soon to be reef. additional although unimportant question: how do you guys say rodi? is it (r o d i) like letter per letter, or is it okay to say (rowdee) like row, row, row your boat.?
