So I got an email this morning from Red Sea saying the reef waves where now available and I have been waiting a long time for them to finally release. Contacted the biggest LFS in my area and they actually had them. It feels really good and is seems solid built. I won’t install it until tomorrow but I can’t wait to see how it performs in my reefer 170 🤓

I am moving to a new apartment in a couple of weeks going from a 1st floor to a 4th floor at a place across the street. I have a reefer 170 and am not sure I I should try to move it myself or just higher a LFS, I got a estimate today and it’s $169 hr for two techs and they told me it would take 2-3 hrs to move..... is that about the usual cost for hiring someone? The benefit is they are insured and professionals. Other option is to move it myself but not sure how hard that will be

TIME FOR AN UPGRADE(EVO 12 to Reefer 170) additional equipment added😁
Mike P posted a topic in Beginners Discussion
I decided to finally purchase a bigger tank and pulled the trigger on a white Red Sea reefer 170 this morning. I decided to get it from saltwateraquarium.com since you can select a freebie. I’m pretty excited and can’t wait to transfer everything out of my evo to the new tank. I still need to purchase skimmer, return pump, heater, sand, and rock. Can anyone tell me what’s the best way to transfer my sand and rock to the new tank? I want to make sure everything is done correctly so I don’t kill anything and want to start planning already- 61 replies

I'm strongly considering starting a Reefer 170 for my first tank. I'd like to splurge on some mp10s but since my funds are going towards the tank itself, I'm considering the Jebao RW4. How many do you recommend - 1 or 2? Also, what do you recommend for the return pump? There is a Varios 4 being sold on the forum right now for $200. Is the Varios 4 overkill? The Varios 2 is $200 new from BRS and if the Varios 2 is more than enough, I'd prefer to go with BRS just for warranty purposes. The Sicce 3.0 and Waveline DC 2500 are both $110, a lot cheaper but if they make noise or have the chance of malfunctioning and doing damage, I want to move past them. On an unrelated note, what are your thoughts about buying used ATOs? Looking for some quick answers since I want to grab these equipment while they're still there!

Hello from cider making country sunny Gloucester in the UK, I've been lurking on a few forums for awhile and watched from a far and after 2 years after getting a reefer 170 and moving serveral times I thought it's time to finally get it up and running and see if I can keep it going long enough to get it looking as good some the tanks on the forum. I've only been in the hobby 2 years so class myself as a "newbie" so any help/suggestions with the tank would be great my wish for this reefer 170 is to be mostly SPS with a few LPS for flow and movement, looking at a monti dominated tank with chalices growing on bare bottom and maybe a hammer coral here and there.
