    Fluval evo 5g pump upgrade?

Hello to all! I have a 13.5 fluval tank that replaced my 5 gallon, however I now work from home and I brought the 5 gallon back out to put on my desk! I was wondering if anyone has found any better pumps that can replace the one the tank came with. It works and all, it just does not have enough flow for me. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Having an extremely bad fight with cyano, almost scraped my entire tank but cyano seems to not be regenerating as quickly. Not quite finished with the war but have been able to control it with more frequent water changes--would prefer to starve it than chemically treat. Cyano choked out probably half of all my corals 😩 I'm trying to prioritize my battles here, as I am also trying to figure out a rise in heat in the tank. Not sure if that played a role in the cyano?? Peak temp with lights on is about 83, which probably isn't helping the surviving corals. I switched out my Koralina for my smaller one to see if that was it, but doesn't appear to be so. I'm thinking the stock pumps, Accelas, at 12w each may be heating up the water, they are +2 years old now. Thinking with going with Tunze 1073.008--they are a bit slower in flow but their wattage is minimal and I heard they are much more efficient?? Funny enough my monti forest fire didn't seemed very phased at all by the mess. However, sps are just a bit out of my league at this point, so thinking of going with easier corals first like LPS and shrooms first, after things stabilize. Current tank parameters, sg 1.024, ammonia 0, nitrates 15 ppm, dkh 9, calcium 400. Have 1 lawnmower blenny, 2 percs, 1 watchman, 1 springeri damsel, a strawberry conch, emerald crab, scarlet hermit, zebra snail, urchin, rock anemone, forest fire monti, duncans, small frogspawn, small acan, and some xenia. Filtration, from top to bottom is filter sock, polyfilter, carbon, changing 5-10 gallons a week at the moment. Any advice on cyano and pumps would be appreciated, this has been on going for weeks now and I'm starting to wear again 😞 I love my tank and hope I can help it bounce back to a new glory!

    pumps and flow

Hi guys. Hoping you can provide me some direction. I have a 14g nano with a total of two pumps...the return pump cobalt mj900 and a Current USA 6000 eFlux wave kit (660 gph max). I have the wave maker set to pulse and I am getting some coral movement but when I watch videos of larger tanks there is a much more flow and back and forth motion. I have my eflux pump on the left side pointing across the tank (so water flow bounces back). My total turnover is a little over 40x/hour so that's great (assuming my flow is what is actually reported on the product boxes)...probably a little less though...my wave maker pump is not turned all the way up. Issue is I have some dead spots I just cant reach. Anyway, I am considering getting another pump so I can lower the flow of both but have alternate flow patterns across the tank. does that sound ok to you guys or just overkill?
  5. Hello and happy holidays! First of all, we're new to the forum... so we're presenting a project we're working on: http://kraken-tech.com/ It's a custom controller and we're working on some points we think are pretty important: -compatibility, we want to support all the common models of aquarium equipment out there (like pumps, sensors, lights, etc.) -modular, we want it to be scalable and configurable. In this way the complexity, costs, size, and other characteristics of the system can be tailored to the user needs. -remote management, we want to control, configure and monitor the system remotely, through a web interface. As you can see from the blog link above, we're already experimenting some versions of the controller, with different configurations, sensors, etc. Let us know what do you think! Also, it would be great if you could tell us what kind and model of pumps you're using in your aquarium. In this way we'll do some research, to plan our compatibility features in that direction. Thanks! Matteo & Francesco

Soft Plumbing two Fluval Spec V (s)

Hi folks, This is my first post on nano reef even though I'm a stalker for several years and only signed up recently. I have a Pico Fluval Spec V with a bunch of sps and some zoas . I had an idea of stacking another Fluval Spec V next to it and running a refugium but instead of drilling , I want to run the outlet of each pump into the other tank . My concern is that if the flow rate is off by a few ml I would eventually overflow one of the tanks ... the theory is to use float switches to stop overflowing .. dunno about the practical part. Has anyone tried this before ? If so please help my idea come to life . Any help/advice is greatly appreciated Tank specs: Fluval Spec V .Nanobox Tide mini . Hydor 214 with wavemaker 5secs on off cycle . Smart Micro Ato . 50W heater . Tank inhabitants: Lone nearly naked clown about half inch Pom pom crab 1 Mexican trochus 1 Margarita snail 1 Turbo snail 3 micro blue legged hermits Corals: Forest fire digi Pink lemonade Acro Some kind of blue Tort Green Monti Pink Monti Hollywood Stunner Green Stylopora Green birdsnest Ponape birdsnest Tabeling Acros (2) Zoanthids 5 types 2 Gorgonians. Maintainance: Weekly 1 gallon water change Glass algae cleaning as needed 2 fishies nano mag Running chemipure nano
