  1. Hi, I have been trying to dial in my Fluval ps2 protein skimmer in my Fluval Evo 13.5 gallon tank and am not having any luck. Any guidance or tips to make sure this starts skimming properly would be great! Some thoughts I have; - does water level in tank effect the skimmer? - should you plug that hole in the second chamber so the “sump” is a closed system? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hey Everyone Took us almost 1 whole year to design and improve on the 2nd generation PLS pipeless Nano skimmer, and we finally have it ready to be released. starting with the original PLS-50 Elite, we kept all of the core features such as the small compact size with our breakthrough Patented "Pipeless controls". We then set to look at the body and increased its strength and durability. As many of you guys and Nano reefers out there know. a Nano skimmer gets much more handling than a larger one sitting comfortably in a sump. Nano skimmers are taken in and out of its chamber more often. Highlighted features of the NEW 3rd Generation PLS-50 Elite II 1) the body: we have added a solid 1" thick PVC neck for the collection cup to easily and securely slide in and out of. 2) At the heart of the skimmer is the New TIA-18 pump, uses a full needle wheel with 25% stronger flow rate and air draw! all while staying silent as the TIA pumps are known for. all of which greatly increases the quality and quantity of the skimming ability. 3) for added durability, We upgraded the Volute into heavy duty solid PVC material. Allowing for high volume air draw and consistent performance. 4) Controls. Continuing our breakthrough pipeless controls, we have increased the drain and intake speeds to give you much better controls and more stabilized fluctuations adjusting the skimmer foam and pressure. 5) The PLS-50 Elite II works both with its bracket or it can be taken off and used as a full in sump skimmer and submerging it into the sump area for a more space saving application. 6) fluctuations improvement: with the new interior flow controls, the PLS-50 Elite II, is better at maintaining consistent water heights in an even greater water level range. PICS Coming soon! Thanks, and Happy Reefing! CAD Lights Aquariums

Best HOB Skimmer for 36 gallon

Hey everyone, I haven’t been on here in a while as things have been pretty stable luckily. No issues, no tears. I would like to put some more coral in my tank but first id like to make sure I have my head on straight and I want to get a protein skimmer to help with the nitrates. I don’t have a sump so I need a HOB one. I know I previously posted something very similar to this but I wanted something cheap. My budgets a little higher now. I still don’t want to spend so much, but more around $100-$200 . Any help is appreciated. Thanks. edit: it’s a 36 gallon.

    Nyos 120 protein skimmer

Hello all, First time poster, long time reader!! So I've recently taken the plunge and decided to get into the world of marine aquariums and got myself an Aqua one mini reef 90. I thought this is a good starting point given this is my first attempt and like to dabble my feet in the water (pardon the pun ) I've thought about upgrading the standard Aqua One G220 as it's not only quite loud but it takes a fair amount of room in the sump. I've read a few reviews on the Nyos Quantum Protein Skimmer 120 and thought this may be a good upgrade for me to add to my setup - just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this skimmer and if it would be overkill on the mini reef 90 or if it would a worthwhile investment? Thanks in advance

    Tunze 9001 in IM25 Lagoon

  11. Hi Everyone, Looking to update the back of my nano 12 gal- 48 lite tank. I have a river reef all in one system. Been up for 2 1/2 years. Currently housing 2 montiporas, 1hammer head, xiena, zoanthids, Green star polys. Hope to eventually get a clam and a Trachyphyllia geoffroyi ,Challice coral I have recently removed the lid and got myself an AI prime light. I have a small eheim 350 skimmer which fails every now and then... Have coarse sponge, phosphate remover bag, carbon bag, ceramic cubes to hold bacteroa. - CAN I REMOVE ALL OF THIS IS IT NECESSARY ??? Dont like having to keep buying thing to replace like this.. Been thinking about changing to the following: I have 4 square sections at the back (Have phosphate at 0.50 ) Refugium- To grow Green hair algae - If i do can anyone recommend a little flat led strip to put over so it doesn't stick up out of my tank ?What bulb? How do i maintain when it grows? Do i just trim it when it grows etc for maintenance Kalwasser reactor - I have a 48 litre tank, i have looked at other conversations saying for a small tank this could be dangerous as such small doses are needed etc Automatic top off ??- Do i need one really? Since removing the lid i now add fresh ro water once a week. Protein skimmer ? Previously using a eheim 350 as had a hood on the tank but now removed lid so can upgrade to hang on the back if anyone know of a small skimmer which could fit this tank Thank you Any advice would be great

    Skimmer not filling?

Hi everyone! So I’m really not new to the hobby, and this isn’t even for a nano tank anymore but this is the most useful site I’ve used! I just upgraded my 10 to a 55. This 55 will be a FOWLR and already has all the equipment running, sand and rocks in. I bought this tank from someone who kept cichlids, and it’s not drilled and the stand makes it impossible to have a sump which is fine. So I decided to get a HOB skimmer. Two people at my LFS highly recommended the one I got which is rated up to 100gals, and is Eshopps brand. Well, I followed the directions and I primed it up. Problem is, it drains back out when it reaches about an inch over the rim of my tank. The top of that water is a good three to four inches below the bottom of the catcher and I honestly can’t even tell if it’s doin anything. There’s a lot of bubble work happening through out the body but that’s it. I’ll attach pics if possible. Any idea how to fix it or is it actually fine and I’m worrying over nothing? The instructions suggested putting a 1” PVC pipe under the little braces that hold onto the tank for the first several hours to reduce the possibility of overflow but that is far from the issue in my case so I removed the PVC.

    Reef Glass protein skimmer!!

Hello all! I just installed my reef glass protein skimmer last night on my one month old Nuvo 10G i wanted to know if this is how much the bubbles should rise up to the stopper, i heard the further away from the stopper, the dryer the skimmate, and the closer to the stopper, the wetter the skimmate(what reef glass suggests). i wanted a mix or balance if you will of both. Here is where the bubbles rise up to now, they dont really touch the stopper, but they get near it let me know your inputs and what works best for you guys!! This little reefglass is epic!!!
  17. So, I want to add the Reef Octopus HOB Skimmer to my 28G Nano-Cube but I cannot figure out how I can install this/where since I don't have a traditional sump and the lid fully encloses the top of the tank. Has anyone installed one of these on the "sump" in the back or have any suggestions, plus will the tubes fit into the 2" space available in the back. It makes since to me to put it where the water overflows from the tank, but that is where my filters are located. Does it matter if the skimmer intake is placed after the filters? Picture of the "sump" I'm working with ~2" from tank to back wall, and only 3 spots that maintain a constant water height, one being the overflow/filter area. 18. I have a 8 Gal LPS dominated reef tank. I'm planning on building the sump. I already have the tank for the sump which is a 5 Gal tank. My question is, which protein skimmer would fit best in my sump ? https://www.tokopedia.com/aquastop/jebo-178-protein-skimmer https://www.tokopedia.com/ikansapoesapoe/jebo-protein-skimmer-180-ii https://www.tokopedia.com/ikansapoesapoe/resun-protein-skimmer-sk-300 https://www.tokopedia.com/abfaquatic/protein-skimmer-resun-sk-05-aquarium-laut P.S. I'm picking these not because they're cheap but rather because these are the only ones that can fit in my stand

  21. Everything works great on this skimmer, has been cleaned and is ready for your tank. This is a HOB style so great for nano systems. The lid of the collection cup has a chip out of it so the lid won’t lock on but doesn’t affect performance in any way. Asking $40+shipping. SeaClone™ exclusive Turbo-Venturi Injector System mixes filtered water and air in the pump impeller chamber, creating a froth of micro-bubbles for maximum skimming efficiency and improved gas exchange. Air and water swirl together in the Vortex Reaction Chamber, creating a powerful "tornado" effect that rapidly draws dissolved wastes from aquarium water. Protein skimmer that mixes filtered water and air in the pump impeller chamber, creating a froth of micro-bubbles for maximum skimming efficiency and improved gas exchange Spiraling air/water mixture propels protein-laden bubbles upward, where they burst to form a frothy solution Dissolved organic compounds are trapped and contained in the high-capacity collection chamber
