Hello, I am new to this forum, and new to nano reefing in general. I’ve just recently finished setting up a new tank that is still in the process of cycling. It’s been running for about four weeks, I have not put any fish or corals in it yet, the only thing I’ve put in it is live rock from my LFS. Yet somehow I am getting this odd brown growth (which I am guessing is some form of algae?), that is now covering a lot of the sand and rock (which started out totally white) See pictures. Any idea what that is?? Cant be ammonia related. Also, just found found the critter in the second pic, he must have hitch-hiked in the live rock. Looks like a tiny snail without a shell but dont really know. Ok to leave in, or should I get rid of it? Thank you in advance!

So starting to actually get more CuC for my 2 tanks since my 125 is going fallow for about 3 months. I came across one of my remaining snails with what I can guess is a barnacle. Question is, based on research I find that they can be beneficial but can also be detrimental to a system if they get out of hand. Rather than get rid of it im keeping it, but as its just a single barnacle, do I need more than 1 to have a "outbreak"? Or is one gonna spread over time and then become a nuisance? Regarding that for a reef tank ( my 36g bow front reef ), would they harm/kill any soft corals or would they just attach to hard skeleton corals and be like a filter feeder among the coral ( i have hammers and soon to be some more acans/acros )?

Weird pink thing attached to base of torch coral
WrongJ posted a topic in Pest and Disease Treatments
I'm new to the reefing hobby and noticed a pink thing attached to the base of my torch. After some googling I thought it might have been a flat worm, but I don't think it is as it hasn't moved. It has a hole on it with a clear looking tubing around it as seen in the picture. Anyone have any ideas what this is? -

Does anyone know what this is? It started growing on my live rock when I first got the rock. I’ve had the tank for around 2-3 months and it isn’t spreading a ton. Is it A majano anemone?

Hay reefers! Can anyone help identify this? I know it's a bristleworm but can't tell if it's a goodie or a baddie? Second is should I remove it, it doesn't seem to be causing any damage to corals or tank mates. I ask as some of the other BW's in the tank look similar but not as red/pink?

So i noticed that an aussie lord I have is not as healthy looking as my other two frags, so I inspected around it for any Aiptasia. I noticed somethings growing on its side. Not really sure what they are, I don't see any tentacles, however I do see movement when my damsels swim by it. Some purple looking things. Also noticed qhat looks like the same thing starting grow on the side of my Frogspawn, which is definitely no bueno. Anyone know what these are? Should I be fine just dipping both frags, do i need to scrape these things off, rely on some critter that eats whatever these are? Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.
