Time for an upgrade: Progress is slow

Current FTS: (updating as progress is made) I started reefing a little over a year ago, I’ve learned a lot, had plenty of failures and successes but I believe I’ve learned from most of not all of my mistakes. My first tank was a trial of sorts and I feel that it’s run it’s course, pico tanks just weren’t my thing so when I realized I had the space for a larger system I started planning. This is roughly what I decided I wanted to do differently: - legit QT - sump - fuge - change maintenance habits: vacuum sandbed, test more frequently/have monitors to do that for me, wc on a more consistent schedule - apex This started 4 months ago? And this is my progress lol The stand finally got set up a week ago so now I can actually start working on some stuff. The tank on the right is gonna be my “QT” I will have dedicated separate tools and such so that proximity shouldn’t be an issue and this way I can enjoy that tank too. Maybe I’ll turn it into a frag tank at some point. It’s a Waterbox 15 AIO with stock return, 50w or 75w eheim, mp10 from old 20g, and a nanobox led. I’ll be transferring some live rock from my tank to seed it and soon after all my critters so I can shut down my old tank. Obviously tons more more to do and I don’t even have a display tank yet!! I’m working backwards and it’s kind of bugging me but I needed the QT set up to shut down my old tank and rearrange some furniture. The current plan is something like a 80g shallow, the UNS 120S (~70g) is probably what I’m going with but I am looking at custom tanks so I don’t have to drill it myself and can get a slightly larger/longer tank for the same price but I’m not sure that route will pan out. So I still need: - a tank!!! - apex + a few modules - skimmer - a hanger for the lights This is still gonna be a long build but I’ll be showing steps of the actual set up, I won’t really be listing all the equipment till it’s finalized unless there’s questions.

    Nyos 120 protein skimmer

Hello all, First time poster, long time reader!! So I've recently taken the plunge and decided to get into the world of marine aquariums and got myself an Aqua one mini reef 90. I thought this is a good starting point given this is my first attempt and like to dabble my feet in the water (pardon the pun ) I've thought about upgrading the standard Aqua One G220 as it's not only quite loud but it takes a fair amount of room in the sump. I've read a few reviews on the Nyos Quantum Protein Skimmer 120 and thought this may be a good upgrade for me to add to my setup - just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this skimmer and if it would be overkill on the mini reef 90 or if it would a worthwhile investment? Thanks in advance
  5. Hello - Currently selling 3 NYOS Quantum 160 Skimmers. They are all in very good condition and have about 8 months of use. I gave them a good scrub down this weekend with vinegar and water so they should be fairly clean (unless you are OCD and want to disassemble them for spotless cleaning). There are a total of 3 for sale. New these retail for $499.99 + tax. These units are all very clean and work extremely well - absolutely nothing wrong with them, just a change in direction with the tanks they were on. 2 of them are in perfect condition
I'm selling 2 of them for $XXX = Perfect Condition
1 of them has scratches on the body from placement in the sump and also has the top of the collection cup damaged (the glass broke off from the top of it. Still fits snug - but has a hairline crack. Can be repaired with glue. DOES NOT IMPACT PERFORMANCE AT ALL)
I'm selling 1 of them for $XXX due to the scratches and cracked glass under the top = Not Perfect Condition
I can ship - but will require EXACT Shipping Costs to be covered as I always get nailed saying "$10 for shipping and the item costs me $40+ after insurance and shipping costs to the middle of Montana" Any questions - please let me know. I have a tremendous amount of feedback on other sites under this same name where I've sold thousands of dollars worth of product: Scratch to body from sump: Cracked Glass on Lid: Cracked glass is BOTTOM LID:

    Replacing Skimmer need help

Replacing a broken skimz sn123, I have narrowed my skimmer search to the nyos 120 and the curve 5, thoughts on both?? I'm leaning towards the nyos for a couple reason but the main one is ease of replacement parts, current tank is the RSR Nano, but I have a tendency to over feed, within the next year I plan on upgrading to a refeer 170 or larger so skimmer will be swapping to the new tank
