Here is my first tank build. It is in my home office. It will primarily be a Zoa and Ricordia Garden. I have 2 Super Storms I picked up from Top Shelf Aquatics. I started off with the Kessil a80 but switched to the AI blade and love it. I attached all the equipment to one side and then assembled the stand. I still have to measure the PAR and place all the coral from Reef A Palooza. Tank Fusion Pro 2 | 10 AIO Stand APS Stand - Black Heater I am not sure if it comes with one Light AI Blade coral grow with HMS mount Controller Apex A3 with 832 powerstrip PowerHead AI Nero 3 ATO Icecap with their 5l dos as a reservoir UV Auqatop Nano Flow Ultimate Nano Tank Return Line Upgrade Kit - VCA Misc Flipper FLOAT Nano Algae Magnet Cleaner up Reef Mat Corals by design Sand tbd Stand Lighting 24v led strip light w/ silicone diffuser and motion detector powered by the 24v port on the 832 -
Journal Goals: Starting this journal now in the hopes of garnering advice/opinions prior to even setting up. Really want to do this in-depth for record keeping and hopefully help out other newbies! Tank/Equipment: -Red Sea Max Nano w/stand and all included equipment (skimmer, ATO, Sock, Carbon, Pump) -Helio dual 100w heaters (went with the dual for redundancy should one fail) -1 EcoTech MP10 (pricey I know but looking ahead equipment wise honesty and believe in cry over price over cry over failure) -CaribSea Arag-Alive Sand -CaribSea Life Rock -Red Sea Coral Pro Salt -Various Red Sea Test Kits Tank Overarching Goals: The overall goal for this tank is to become an LPS and Softy tank. Really want to establish a nice little Lords garden w/a small Zoa island. Also plan to have an Elegance once the tank is established. This will be my first reef tank so I really look at this as an opportunity to learn. Mistakes will be made and I truly hope this community of experienced reefers will call me out on bad decisions as I go! Specific Stocking Goals: Fish: Once Cycled; 2x Ocellaris Clownfish After 2 week steady parameters; 1x Six-Line Wrasse 1x Small sand sifting goby Inverts: 1x Peppermint or Fire Shrimp 1 or 2 Nasarius Snails Coral: Once fish and tank are established (gauging a month or so but will base on overall parameters); Various Lords Zoas on island Elegance Tentacled Toadstool Duncan Candy coral Maybe red Xenia (will decide this at later date due to their rapid growth status) Feel free to offer other suggestions! Cycle Plan: Once aquascaped and sand/water (using Red Sea salt) added I plan to follow the Dr. Tim’s fishless cycle. Dosing ammonia and then the One and Only. Test kits will all be in, and tank will be tested regularly until initial cycle completed. Once this is done the initial fish will be introduced gradually. I also plan to dose Brightwell Clean during this period to try and prevent/combat any algae blooms that may arise (though I understand this isn’t a guaranteed way to avoid them. I am prepared for any that may come. Mainly trying this based on BRS advice). After the tank has had time to settle in I will turn the lights on, look to start adding coral after a few weeks! Additional: Tank arrives next week. Starting the journal now to garner advice before I even begin the initial set-up process. Start looking for pics of the initial aquascape soon! This is my first SW tank ever and I’m really excited about the challenges with starting off with 10g. Aqueon 10g Rimless Nicrew Magi380 submersible filter 90gph Nicrew 50w Nano Heater Nicrew 30w Classic Led Sun Sun 538gph power head Lights on 12hour cycle manual ramp up and down for dusk/dawn Adding CuC tomorrow with my first coral (unnamed favia) Only fish is a 3 stripe Damsel and will remain the only inhabitant. I really love these guys as a species and it fits my theme of color being in the corals fish with B&W only been up for 4 weeks and cycle is finished and just did first 30% water change 0ppm Amonia 0ppm Nitrite 5ppm Nitrate after water change

Hello! Newbie here! I just bought a BioCube 32 gallon and stand that was gently loved by someone else but was moving out of state and took the tank down. It came with a wave maker, protein skimmer, and a bunch of accessories I haven’t even delved into yet. Any tips on getting it started back up?

Low alkalinity, what does this mean and what should I do?

I have a pretty new tank and my alkalinity is low. I’m new to the hoby and I’m struggling to understand what exactly this means, why it happened, and how to fix it. Can you guys help me out? If you don’t have time to explain stuff, I would be thankful if you could include a link to a good explaination. The stuff I’m reading online just has me more confused. Temp: 80.2 Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: ~15 Alkalinity: 6.5 dKH (0.5dKH resolution) pH: 8.2 I have a fluval evo 13.5 and a MAME design protein skimmer. I have a tiny clownfish and a small cardinalfish. One Mexican turbo snail, a few hermit crabs, and a pom pom crab. I also have a small Xenia and a small spotted mushroom coral. -
Hi everyone, Any tips on storing live rock with some softies for a few weeks in a spare tank with a pump and heater (no lights) whilst I strip down and prepare another display tank? Only a few kenya trees and xenia! no not bothered if they die off! Tried to rehome them for free but haven’t had any luck lol! would it be okay to do this or would I have to remove the coral first?
