    Reef safe puffers?

I am looking to add a puffer to my tank. I know that none of them are guaranteed reef safe, but I would love to hear about any experiences you guys have had with them in a reef tank. I’m primary looking at a spotted puffer, a saddle puffer, a leopard puffer, or a blue spotted puffer (in that order). If any of you have kept any of these guys or any other puffers, could you let me know about your experiences, good or bad? I would appreciate any advice! Thanks so much!

    Adding Fish to Established System

I've had two clownfish in my 20G long for the last year. These two clowns were the only fish in the tank. Sadly, this morning I woke up to one of them on the floor. I feel horrible and don't want this to happen again. I will be adding a mesh top before any more fish are introduced the system. I want to replace the fish with another clown or two, but I'm nervous about how the already established clownfish will react to the new addition(s). Is it wise to add more clownfish to the tank or should I look at other fish? Thanks in advance!
  3. Hey guys I bought an already established tank (nano reef) in the fluval evo 13.5g. I have 2 questions one more important than the other but wondering on both. so I transported the aquarium with a few inches of water in it and the inhabitants in bags (1 hermit crab, 2 slugs, 2 bubble tip anemone, 1 anemone shrimp, tile of gsp, some zoas, live rock and live sand) the live rock was in a 5g pain with the tanks previous water. I also picked up 2 clownfish and 1 blue damselfish my brother bought me a hammerhead coral. so got home and added the previous water to the tank, then let the bags all float and acclimate. Then made more salt water and checked salinity, all salinities of previous, new and the fishes marine store water similar within .01-.02 of each other. I slowly added the anemones clean up crew etc. I added a bit of the tank water to the fish bags then sat for 5 min or so and then just let them sort of swim out when they were ready. I tried following the directions best I could. so In the tank things look good, the coral is slowly opening one anemone moved completely and the other is ok same spot bit open but closing up maybe because it’s night now? Do they do that? my main concern is that the 2 clown fish are staying primarily in the one top corner. The blue damsel is sort of swimming back and forth from one rock arch to another rock cave and seems fine not going to the top at all. I don’t see anything particularly concerning about the clowns except they are mostly at the top and more in one corner. First question is should I be concerned? I want them to acclimate well and be happy and healthy I’m so paranoid can’t sleep. Is there anything specific I should watch for to catch any warning signs and help? second question I can’t seem to keep the back chamber same level as the main, it’s about an inch or more lower. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Bonus question should I have the pump nozzles aimed more at the anemones and coral or above them, away from them? I feel like I did so much research and now I’m the moment I’m just panicked on night one praying everyone is happy inside! Help 😮

    Recommendations for next fish!

Hey guys, been wanting to add a 3ed fish to my clown pair in my 28g AIO. I'm not sure exactly what I want, and when I find things I like at lfs liveaquaria typically say I need a much larger tank. Things I'd love if I had a much larger tank is are a yellow or purple tank, like the dorito shape and watching them in my father's tank years ago was much fun. Coral beauty Angels are also great looking. I'm not sure I'd be able to keep a goby with pods for long Any recommendations?

    Are my fish OK?

Hi there, 3 days ago I bought a small tank bred Clown and a small six line wrasse and added them to my two week old tank (after cycling) which already featured a healthy yellow Coralgoby (who only eats frozen food(note: i haven't tried pellets)). So far i have only managed to feed the clown flake food which he will eat happily along with frozen foods, however he constantly swims from one side of the tank to the other really fast, whilst bumping into the each side of the glass and does this whilst swimming next to the front glass panel of the tank and occasionally stops at each corner swimming up and down slowly. My question is, is the clownfish healthy or stressed and is there something i should do? note : he is the only clownfish in the tank and is very small. Also my small six line wrasse that i got has been hiding in a cave in the rock and rarely comes out. When he does come out, he swims close to the sand bed and its usually first thing in the morning before the light comes on but the natural light coming through the windows is present. When he is in the cave he doesn't move much but still moves his fins, and occasionally pecks at the glass next to him. Also during my first day of having him i couldn't find him in the tank, and it turned out he was stuck in the gap between the HOB filter and the glass, i moved the filter and at first i thought he was dead but he slowly swam into the cave which is at the other side of the tank. I haven't managed to feed him yet as he swims away from the coral feeder with frozen food in it. My parameters are stable and i have nitrates at 2 ppm with ammonia and nitrite at 0 ppm. My second question is, is the six line wrasse OK and if not what should i do about it? note: when I bought the two fish from the LFS, they were both swimming around, looking healthy, but the wrasse did occasionally hide in the rock. Also when i looked at the wrasse in the bag (during acclimation) he had a white floating bit attached to the fins on the top of his body, but it has now gone. To give you an idea about the tank and the cave, the tank is 20 gallons and the cave is just rock leaning against the back corner of the tank so i can see inside and so know what the wrasse is doing whilst in there. Thanks, John.
  6. Hey guys, just got my first clown-fish for my nano tank and I was wondering if my pump is too powerful for it. I have some corals too and I don't know if the return flow that comes with the aquarium is enough and if the extra pump may be too much? I have an Aqueon 500 pump and my tank is a Fluval EVO 13.5 I'll add a video link for you guys to see how it swims, even when I turn it off it seems to like that spot and just swims over there. I'll appreciate any comments. Thanks! https://photos.app.goo.gl/LTDrzcM8NoUiLEgo8

To add or not to add...

Another small fish, that is my question 😁 I'm quite aware this question has been asked a thousand times, and I read through quite a few of these threads. However, I'd like to be sure about my individual aquarium, before going out and buying a gorgeous fish, that I should not have bought 😁 My 20g Waterbox is currently stocked with a pair of clowns, a Tailspot Blenny (which I adore really), a cleaner shrimp and of course an assorted CUC. The first couple of months I had some trouble with stabilizing the water conditions, however at the moment I notice more steady water conditions and after 6 months there is coralline algae developing pretty much all over the aquarium. Am I correct in assuming the tank is starting to stabilize and age? (I am seeing some pineapple sponges and other filter feeders as well) Now the clowns and blenny are active, but docile and don't bother each other, nor the shrimp. The cleaner shrimp is having a ball following every bit of movement from under his rock overhang. Because I enjoy watching the livestock and their daily business so much (more then I expected actually) I am wondering if it would be possible to add another small, peacefull fish. And if so, what kind of fish? I was thinking of either a Firefish (perhaps a purple one) or a Neon Blue Goby or another type of goby? What do you guys think, would it be wise to squeeze in another fish, or would it be too cramped up in a 20g? If you guys would advice against it, you're going to cost me, because I might start considering a bigger tank 😇
  8. So they finally stocked some more yellow banded possum wrasse on Liveaquaria and I went ahead and decided this should be the next fish for me. He/she hopefully will arrive this Friday so now I’m anxiously waiting. His tank mate will be my citrinis clown goby who also came from Liveaquaria last year. I have a Pom Pom crab in the tank so I’m not sure how that will work out but from what I’ve read, the wrasse should leave it alone. I really hope this fish does well in my tank and gets along with my goby.
  9. Anyone buy fish from blue zoo aquatics??? I was thinking of getting a pink streaked wrasse and they seem to be the only place that has them in stock. It’s either that or a panamic barnacle Blenny from live aquaria. This will be going in my evo

    Adding new clownfish

I'm pretty new to the hobby bought an existing tank. I managed to move the 24gal nano cube with all the existing water. I finally after weeks decided to go buy my first fish. Tank came with 1 clone who was alone for months. I ended up picking a lightning maroon clown for 40 dollars. I was told that they should get along fine. Sometimes their ok and others the original is just picking on the new guy. I've seen them both wiggling at each other at times. But how much aggession is too much? On a side not I did rearrange the tank before introductions. Just wanna be sure I'm not letting her permanently harm the new guy. Dont want him over stresses with the move and with her being agressive. And the new one is about 1/3 to 1/2 smaller and always just submittes. Any in For on this is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Purple firefish hiding

I just got a purple firefish yesterday, spent an hour drip acclimating it and then when I released it into the tank and went to throw the bag away, it went deep into hiding. I spent a while looking and finally found it deep within the rockwork. I turned out the lights early to give it lots of time in the dark to get comfortable. This morning I couldn’t even see the tail anymore in the hiding spot and couldn’t see it anywhere else so I lifted the rocks a little and there it was buried deep in the rocks. I’m leaving it alone for now but I don’t know how long I should wait before getting worried about it. I’m afraid it won’t come out to eat and it’ll die somewhere in the rocks and I won’t know and it’ll mess with the water chemistry. So any advice on purple firefish and if he’ll ever come out and how long it can go without food would be awesome
