Starting this build thread of my Aquatop 12 gallon long rimless reef. After being out of the hobby for 5 years, I decided to get back in and combine it with my woodworking hobby by building my own stand. Which will house a DIY 10 gallon sump/refugium. Long nano tank with hidden tech

Hi! I got my first reef setup about 8 months ago, and its going great. But as you do this for your first time, you soon realise what you should have done different. So, I'm slowly sketching on my second reef, which will be sumped, and with no visible tech in the display. Ive been doing som sketching on different overflow ideas, but kind of ending up not wanting even a slim ghost box on a short side, I want it to be invisible. So this is what I have so far. Dimensions 900x250x250mm. Glass frame on top for more stability and prevent jumpers. Herbie overflow with 20mm pipes, and one 20mm return. All hidden in rock work. Now since im not working in 3D anymore my skills are a bit rusty, but the rock work will contain of lots of small pieces glued together, roughly in this shape. Now I want your feedback. Anything you can se is totally wrong, something I havent thought about? Attaching one images with just pipe work, and one with rock/sand/box. Best Regards Samuel Horn

20g Long College Budget Reef Tank

Hello! This will be my journal for my 20g long college nano reef tank. It will mainly be for myself to keep track of what's going on and to look for advice from others.
  7. so I got my 20gal (standard petco)long tank coming together. Still waiting for it to finish the cycle. I decided for lighting I would go with aqua illumination hydra 26 hd. And I must say I am thoroughly impressed. I have it on the 18" flexible arm. I have the light centered on the tank. I have it at the highest point. I have read about different heights etc and settings but it all become obscured and blurred with so many opninions for different size tanks that I don't own. So my question is what's a recommended height for the tank I have? Also what are some settings for the height? Because it matters for the settings and height .... As for the what what I want to grow.... zoas, GSP, torch, a Duncan and a few leather. Possibly a hammer. And way later in the future after the tank is solid a birds nest. I will have two clown fish in the tank along with a shrimp and 5 turbo snail. Of course cleanup first then spacing out the time of putting them in. I may add another fish in the future but for now 2 clown are fine thanks for any advice Protein skimmer not here yet but it will be soon
