  1. Found this off of a nature video on YouTube, curious to hear if anyone knows what it could be. I'm talking specifically about the green sponge like structures. Might be really cool to have in a reef tank! The images are from this youtube video: https://youtu.be/nMAzchVWTis
  2. I was wondering if someone could help ID this coral. Purchased as a Acan but now I am thinking Favia. Please let me know what you think. Also how do you guys tell the difference?

    ID of specific clam

Hey guys. So last night I went ahead and bought a dicho clam ( what it was posted as ), but I am pretty sure this isn't that type of clam. I'm not really sure its a clam as it looks like a oyster atleast to me based on shell shape. Any help appreciated http://imgur.com/gallery/zv2hn2F

What type of worm is this?

I have a saltwater ecosphere and have been unable to find identification resources for this little guy. Any ideas?
  7. I’m pretty sure this one is a limpet and I have tons of small ones everywhere in my tank: this one I have never seen before and noticed it last night:
  8. So I have been running this tank for around 2 weeks now (with fish) four weeks without. 2 weeks after I added the fish I noticed this lighter purple algae (I think it's cyano). It would be great to have an ID on this algae/bacteria (aswell as a few other potential pests). I found it odd as this is a brand new tank though and I am aware of the diatoms on the rock. BTW this is my first fish tank. The tank is a 10 gallon IM Nano. I run my light 8 hours a day though I have reduced it one hour due to the algae. My salinity is 1.25, 0.25 ppm ammonia, no Nitrites, little to no Nitrates and 7.8 ph. I cycled the tank using live rock for two weeks with no water changes (I know that's not long enough) though I was instructed to do so by my local fish store. I am also using de-chlorinated tap water and I know I should be using RODI water. I have also done a 20% water change each week. I have stocked the tank with a ocelaris clownfish aswell as a bi-color dottyback and when I stoked the tank I used Seachem new tank stabilization system. I change the filter every week and use Chemipure blue in the filter sock. Also on that note I was wondering how often to replace the Chemipure blue nano packets. No clean up crew yet but it's in the plans. I just forgot to add that I feed the tank once a day a little bit of misis shrimp i think is what it's called. I have a power head in the tank as well lots of flow. I have also have attached a few other species that I have found in the tank I thought one of them was Aptasia but i am unsure. It would be great If I could have an ID on these species. Thanks! I'm trying my best and would appreciate some help with my new tank! and I am new to Nano Reef so I may have set this up incorrectly. Bryce Image 1. Aptasia maybe? Image 2. Red hair like algae? Image 3. flower like thing coming out of a tube Image 4. Lighter purple algae Image 5. Again lighter purple algae
  9. Hello there! Long time lurker and first time posting, I found these two long white worms in my tank and was wondering if they're harmful or harmless. They're about 5/6 inches long and after looking through the ID threads I couldn't figure out what these were. some tank details, 10 gallon has been up for about a month and a half now, last new additions were fish two weeks ago, and I used mostly dry rock with a piece of lr from the lfs to start it up Thank you!

    Can anyone ID this please?

Does anyone know what this is? It started growing on my live rock when I first got the rock. I’ve had the tank for around 2-3 months and it isn’t spreading a ton. Is it A majano anemone?

    Weird white tentacles on rock?

I have these small clear tentacles growing on my rock. Some even have tulip shaped cups on them? Is this the apocalypse? Someone please ID if you can!

Saw this thing on my glass this morning and not sure what it is, was kind hard to get a picture of it because it’s small and clear.

    What might this be?

I have seen these strange things in my tank for a few weeks now, they look sort of like little white orbs connected on top of transparent stalks or tentacles of some sort, at first I thought they might be eggs or even some sort of anemone. I've had Aiptasia before and these seem completely different. I'll attach a few pictures even though the quality is pretty bad, has anyone seen something like this before?
  14. These little anemone looking things with white dots at the center and little fingers around it popped up all over my new live rock on the coralline algae. Anyone got an id? I can’t find anything online.

    Coral skeleton ID

Ok guys and gals, I bought this nice coral skeleton off ebay and as far as I know of its in the acropora family but i'd like to know exactly it's full scientific name. Any help would be Very much appreciated!

    What are these?

My tank is fourteen days old, this morning I saw the glass was covered with these little tufts of brownish or greenish "hairs" for lack of a better word. What could these be? I assume some sort of algae but they don't look like the diatoms in my tank, any way it could be the beginnings of GHA?
  18. couple pics below. The darker tan pics from the top of my tank have been there a while and slowly grown to size over about 4 months? The other tiny single polyps? On the rock I just noticed today. Perhaps half a dozen to a dozen of them in sprinkled in a couple regions of tank.

    Coral ID

I got this new frag from a local reefer. Not sure what it’s called. I’d love to know if any one has any ideas
  20. Hello everyone looking for s little help. I can't figure this one out but I'm guessing eggs? Who's the culprit? Various snails-about a dozen total. Three variety of hermit crabs. A fire shrimp. Two clowns. A clown goby and a green chromis. So it's gotta be snails crabs or clowns right? It's in the top corner of my tank where the coralline doesn't grow. Just beneath the power head. Fluval 13.5. About a year old. Thanks!

    ID and info

Came in on live rock. Very rigid blades with a distinct rib around the margin. Any idea on species and care? Thanks!
  22. Hi guys, I have 2 month old Fluval Evo with live rock, live sand, CUC and a couple of clowns (literally and metaphorically). I was taking a look at the tank this morning and spotted something I hadn't seen before. It appears to be in a tiny white spiral like shell or body with a red 'head' protruding with lots of small appendages. When any of the crabs come near it he will retract then emerge again a minute later. The head almost looks a little feather duster like to me but he appears to be rooted to the live rock. I've added a couple of pictures, one retracted and another when he's out. I apologize for the poor quality of the 'out' picture but it's pretty far back in the tank and this thing is tiny (Biro tip sized) Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Identification help

Hi guys, I recently setup a Fluval EVO 13 gallon nano reef. It contains live sand and live rock and finished cycling about 3 weeks ago. Following the cycle I stocked the tank with a small Emerald crab, 4 small Hermits and 3 medium size turbos. There are a large number of Spaghetti worms in the rock but tonight I spotted something different. In the picture you can see about 6 small tentacles in the dark area of the rock, the nearby Hermit is about the size of a thumb nail for comparison. The tentacles move but very slowly as opposed to the Spaghetti worms which are significantly longer and much more active. Any ideas? Thanks

    Coral ID

Hello everyone, I was hoping someone could help me ID this coral,I saw it up at my LFS for just 15 dollars a frag and I figured why not,the guys that work there said they weren’t sure what it was. It’s definitely some kind of encrusting coral,if anyone has an ID on this I would appreciate it,thank you!
  25. Found hiding in a coral covered rock, LFS has no ID on it. Color is a deep red and green strip/splotches. Definitely a blenny of some kind.
