  1. Product Link: https://www.coralvue.com/icecap-turf-scrubber These updated units are already on the market and on retailer shelves (pricing unchanged), but we wanted to take a moment to share some of the changes that have been made to the IceCap Algae Turf Scrubbers because a lot of the inspiration came from the feedback of early adopters on forums like NR. We value the opinions of all hobbyists and sincerely appreciate everyone who cared enough to share their thoughts. You've really helped us to build a better product! If there are any early adopters reading this that have experienced an issue with your scrubber, we invite you to contact us at support@coralvue.com so we can help you out! Some of the changes we've made include: The spray bar is slotted now (rather than a bunch of small holes) which helps water flow evenly down the mesh screen. A spray bar cover was added to prevent algae from growing in the drain holes and clogging. Leak guards were added on the sides so no salt creep comes out of the spray bar. Red LEDs were added to the lights for better hair algae growth. Thumb-locking screws were added to lock the water inlet pipe in position. Here are some quick photos that show these changes:

    HYDROS WaveEngine Launches November 12

The CoralVue HYDROS WaveEngine officially launches at fine fish stores everywhere next Tuesday, November 12th! We also just launched a new website for the HYDROS brand. We would LOVE it if you could check the site out and dig into the support pages. Let us know your thoughts! https://www.coralvuehydros.com/ We already have pages built for the HYDROS Control 2 and Control 4 and they look great, so we'll get those live soon. But the focus for now is the WaveEngine! We put out a new WaveEngine video last Friday on our YouTube channel and Facebook. It is the first in a series (this is mostly an overview of the features & benefits), but we would be very appreciative if you watched it and left us a comment! Stores are starting to get their WaveEngines, too—check out this video Luke at @Premiumaq dropped on Saturday: If you're wondering if your pump is compatible with the WaveEngine, click here: https://www.coralvuehydros.com/is-my-pump-compatible/

    Brand new equipment FIRE SALE

Hello folks, I was planning on setting up a new reef tank with a Nuvo Fusion 20, so I bought all these equipment brand new a couple of months ago. Well, it turns out that I'm now relocating from Chicago to Boston with a job that requires frequent travel, and so will have to shelve my plans indefinitely. Here's a list of the equipment I bought -- all brand new, unused, in their original unpacked/sealed boxes. I currently live in Lakeview area, Chicago, and preference would be local pick up. Thanks. Nuvo Fusion 20 stand only (black, anodized aluminum construction), $195 (bought for $300) Nanobox Duo Plus M (black, 9" gooseneck), $280 (bought for $425) Icecap Smart RO/DI (4 stage, 100 gpd), $260 (bought for $400) Tunze Osmolator 3155 ATO, $130 (bought for $200) Trigger System 5 gal ATO reservoir (Crystal color), $65 (bought for $100) Sicce Synra 1.5 (358 gph), $45 (bought for $70) Two (2) Cobalt Neo-therm 75w, $40 each (bought for $63) IM ChaetoMax 2-in-1 Refugium LED 9w, $45 (bought for $70) Two (2) IM Spin Stream Flow Nozzles, $13 each (bought for $20) If someone can take all the above, I'll sell for $1,000 even, which is basically almost 50% off what I paid for them. Again, all brand new in their original unopened boxes. Thanks, Ben

  21. I'm looking to trade or sell an Icecap 1k Gyre, comes with all spare parts, I recently purchased it used from another local hobbyist (was about 6 months old) but after cleaning it off and testing it my tank just doesn't have the depth to really take advantage of this pump. I would love to trade for an aqamai KPS, otherwise I'm just looking for around $75.

    IceCap K2-50 Yea or Nay?

Hello all! First post here on NR 🙂 Was just hoping for any input/advice/experience regarding the IceCap K2 50 skimmer. I'm starting up an ADA 60f (around 8 gal) along with a custom sump (another 10 gal) and want to get a decent skimmer. Will be moving most of the equipment from an old tank I have to the 60f. Everything about this tank: Stocking: 1 x Frostbite clown, 1 x Nearly Naked clown (idek if this is right) - These guys have been in a 7gal cube now for more than a year, so just changing tanks because I love the shallow ADA Pump: Sicce Syncra 1.5 Overflow: Glass Holes Super Nano Con Dientes Return: Glass Holes 0.5" Return Plumbing: in the process of getting some colored PVC 🙂 🙂 🙂 Wavemaker: Sicce Voyager 270GPH Light: AI Prime HD I also attached a picture of the current tank the nemos are in. Light is from amazon and am just using an eheim canister filter. I've read up on some other threads and it seems to me that people generally like the icecap. With that said, I'm super open to considering other skimmers. What I've also considered are: BM NAC 3.5 Reef Octopus BH-50 However, I'm afraid that if the skimmer is TOO overkill for a tank my size, then the collection might be poor? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL YOUR INPUT!!! 🙂 And thank you so much to all of you as I've learned so much from reading dozens of threads. I hope to make another thread documenting the process too.
  24. Went to the Dallas north aquarium today just to look around and dream about my future large tank and my wife decided to get me some stuff.... early anniversary gift. Icecap salinity checker, candy cane and stylo coral.
  25. Received my new toy today and I'm a little worried about it's accuracy. The digital pocket tester says the SG in my tank and in my saltwater reservoir is 1.021. My calibrated ATC refractometer says 1.025! From what I've seen and read, I don't believe there's a way to calibrate the digital pocket tester. I know optical refractometers aren't the most accurate, but I didn't think it would be that far off! Wouldn't I see issues in my tank if the SG is that low?! http://www.coralvue.com/salinity-temperature-digital-pocket-tester
