  1. UPDATE: Most Recent FTS 10/4/18 (***The following description was back in July 2015) Hey guys so I've had my nuvo fusion for about 4 months now (3/15/15 start date), and things look pretty good so far from what I can tell. (Besides a Cyano problem, a little bit of bubble algae, and my nano tunze ATO flood malfunction) I work as an electrician during the day (11 years now) and a fish hobbyist at night. I have been into fishkeeping for over 10 years now and I've always wanted a nice nano salt tank. So about 4 months ago I decided to upgrade my small crappy 5 gallon salt tank to a nice AIO. I chose the nuvo fusion and I am VERY happy with it so far, here's what I'm working with.... Setup: (current as if 3/17/18) -Innovative marine nuvo Fusion 10 gallon -Kessil a160we (with gooseneck and 90 degree attachment... with the spectral controller) -Tunze Silence 1073.008 pump (used as an upgrade rather than using the weak stock pump) -Hydor Koralia 425 (powerhead) -Hydor Koralia Smart Wave (powerhead controller) -Tunze Osmolator Nano (ATO) 2.2 gallon kalkwasser mix -IM Spin Stream attachment -IM Ghost skimmer (protein skimmer) -Finnex 50 watt titanium heater -Cobalt neo therm 50 watt back up heat -Tunze Mini pump 5024.040_A (very nice tiny poverhead type pump for caves or bottom flow) -Power center by coralife (makes things so much easier to unplug...it's like my power controller center) -Custom caddy with chemi-pure blue nano, purgen and phosguard -10 lbs of live sand -8Lbs of dry rock Livestock: (Livestock has been updated as of 3/17/18) Tail spot blenny 1 Barnacle blenny 2 Royal Gramma 1 false clown 1 dwarf zebra hermits 5 turbo snails 2 blue legged hermit 1 nassarius snails 2 cleaner shrimp1 Corals: (corals have been updated as of 3/17/18) zoas acans blasto palys hammer candy cane duncan Favia Ricorida mushrooms Yuma mushroom Rhodactis mushroom Gsp Montiporas
  2. Hey Everybody! We’ve been lurking for a couple months and decided it was about time we started a journal. Background - We had a 75G mixed reef about 15 years ago. It was a ReefReady Oceanic with a refugium/sump, skimmer, and metal halides. It was a lot of fun but eventually the maintenance didn’t fit with our schedules and we decided to get out of the hobby for a while. About 5 years ago we got back in with a 5G Ecoxotic EcoPico. It was filtered by a MarinePure ROCK and a Koralia 240. We eventually bumped up against the constraints of that system and decided to get something a little bigger with some more flexible filtration options… and here we are. The ATO, heater, fan, and temp controller came over from the EcoPico. Everything else is new. We tried the MarinePure ROCK in the new tank but it was just really boring looking so we switched to the CaribSea Life Rock and put some MarinePure spheres in the fuge basket. Equipment: IM Fusion Nano 10 Asta 20 LED NanoBox Mini Tide Plus M IM MightyJet Desktop return pump IM Wavelink Desktop circulation pump InTank Media Basket InTank Fuge Basket Tunze Nano Osmolator ATO 2.5 Gallon Aqueon as ATO reservoir Cobalt 25W Neo-Therm Arctic Breeze Mobile USB Fan Bayite Temperature Controller VCA Random Flow Generator CyberPower 1350 UPS Dry Goods: CaribSea Life Rock Shapes CaribSea Dry Aragonite Fritz RPM Salt Filtration: MarinePure Spheres (in the fuge basket) Filter Floss (in the media basket) Chemi-Pure Blue Nano (in the media basket) Fish: Benny the Tail Spot Blenny Inverts: Snails (whatever is left of the 5.5G Crew from Reef Cleaners) Blue Leg Hermits x 2 Tisbe pods from Pod Your Reef Corals: Various Mushrooms GSP Candy Cane Toadstool Leather Various Zoas Bird’s Nest Torch 10/22/2018 - Serious disco ball in this one! I really need to glue some stuff to those rocks. Overall, everything seems pretty happy. 9/30/2018 - The giant green mushroom decided to relocate itself and the bird's nest fell over. I'll try to actually get it mounted this weekend. 9/15/2018 - You can see the leather in the reflection back in the corner. The ramekin has a loose mushroom in it that I'm trying to coax into attaching to a frag disk.
  3. Hello reefers, While i am slowly collecting everything for my reefer 170, I bought an im fusion 10 for a good price (not easy in europe) and thinking about setting it up as my first saltwater tank. I sold my freshwater tank and i'm officially fishless and it kinda sucks . Planning to run it skimmerless (like Gena, she does a wonderful job with her fusion 10) and just keep up with water changes. If i really need to use one i have an atb nano hob skimmer for backup. So what do i already have: Tank: im fusion 10 Stand: ikea kallax Pump: eheim compact 600 Skimmer: eheim skim marine 100 Heater: eheim thermopreset 50watt Water movement: mp10wqd Light: Nanobox mini tide plus m ATO: Tunze 3152 Now what ato should i get? Tunze nano osmolator 3152? Should i choose the prime hd or the kessil a80? I actually want a mini tide but it's to expensive to import it to Belgium Couldn't resist and bought a nanobox mini tide plus m, i wanted that light for over 2 years now. Figured it be worth the extra cost. Here are some pics: What do you think of this aquascape? Planning to only keep a few corals like a frogspawn or torch and some acans and zoas. i also want one fish to keep the bioload low. Not really sure which one to get. Perhaps a purple dottyback or a tailspot... Cheers, Rory
  4. Hi! I'm setting up my first saltwater aquarium (after many years of fw planted tanks) and could use some advice on my rock scape. I like how it looks but I'm wondering if this is enough rock. Are there plenty of good spaces for a variety of corals? I still haven't done enough research on coral placement, so I'm wondering if the top part has too much vertical surface instead of horizontal? Is there enough rock for biological filtration? I'm guessing it's not even 5lbs, and I have at least 10lb more that I could break up and play with. I don't have specific stocking goals at the moment and am just trying to create a pretty balanced scene with rock surface, sand space, swim space, and enough clearance for easy glass cleaning while still being interesting visually. Thank you for the critiques!

    Reef Glass protein skimmer!!

Hello all! I just installed my reef glass protein skimmer last night on my one month old Nuvo 10G i wanted to know if this is how much the bubbles should rise up to the stopper, i heard the further away from the stopper, the dryer the skimmate, and the closer to the stopper, the wetter the skimmate(what reef glass suggests). i wanted a mix or balance if you will of both. Here is where the bubbles rise up to now, they dont really touch the stopper, but they get near it let me know your inputs and what works best for you guys!! This little reefglass is epic!!!
  6. Hey everyone, I got the SpinStream for my Nuvo 10 and it seems to be making WAY too much noise (tank is in my bedroom).. will this eventually break in and make less sound? because the flow is amazing, I just can't stand the gear noises it makes. I heard if I leave it on for a week or so, it will develop some sort of slime coat and the noise will go away, any truth to this or should I try getting a replacement spin stream and testing that one? Thanks

  8. Great little all-in-one media reactor. Fits in the Fusion 20/16/10 models. Works perfectly, I just don't need it anymore. Its only been used about a month, new it's $99, asking $60.
