    Acans Dead?

The other day I fed and did a water change and my acans and frogspawn were staying closed up. I left for work and care back and my acans were shriveled up and covered in slime. Now it looks like it is dead to the skeleton in some spots. Does anyone have any ideas what could have happened? Everything else is doing fine and they’re not close enough to anything dangerous. My guess is that the feeding mucous from the frogspawn could’ve stung it. I hope it can still come back 😔
  2. I'm pretty new to all of this. I had freshwater tanks for a while, many years ago, but didn't really understand the hobby and I didn't take the time to learn. I've always wanted a salt water tank, but stayed away because I was afraid of the the time and money commitment. A friend of mine owns a pet store. For years he's been trying to get me into the hobby because I'm always hanging out at his shop looking at his saltwater stuff. In December he finally got me. He gave me a Coralife 29 biocube. Oh boy, I had no idea what I was in for. It's been just under 6 months and it has been a hell of roller coaster, both good and bad. There's a lot to recap in just 6 months, but I'll start with where I am now. Then I'll recap everything I can recall going through/doing along the way to this point. Hopefully others can make use of all of the things that have and have not worked well for me. Attached is what my tank looks like as of April 8, 2018. Hardware: Coralife biocube 29 Stock hood/lighting: CF daylight, Actinic Blue, Blue LED bar x2 Stock Pump Upgraded ultra quiet hood fans Hydor 425 & 240 powerheads EHEIM Jager 150W heater Filtration: stock bioballs, carbon filter cartidge, Chemipure Elite Blue biobag 2 digital electric outlet timers to control lights Livestock: 2-Picaso Clowns 1-Yellow Wrasse 1-Purple goby firefish 1-Redstripe cleaner shrimp 1-Sand sifting starfish 6-crabs (3-red, 3-blue) 2-Nessarius snails 3-Turbo snails 2-Trochus snails 4-Astrea snails 1-Zebra snail 1-Bumblebee snail Corals: Duncan Frogspawn Hammer Kenya tree Zoanthids Blue star polyps Hollywood stunner

    Does this look right??

Just wondering is this how my frogspawn are suppose to look like right after target feeding??
  5. Started this tank on March 30, 2017 with stock pump and filter sock, koralia nano from previous tank, and 5 lb of LR, and about 8.5 gallons of saltwater to start. The tank is almost a year old now and some upgrades have happened. (will take some better pics with the camera later) Equipment -IM Ti ATO (going to tunze nano ato) -Ran a kessil a80 for 11 months before going to a radion (diffusion kit/rm -Jbj 1/15 hp Chiller with 1.0 return -Sicce 0.5 return - inTank Media rack with 2 filer floss on top, seachem matrix, bottom two filter flosses -inTank universal media skimmer -was running a IM desktop Media Reactor with carbon but since the RMS mount is fairly big i had to remove the reactor (don't mind that because its freaking study!) So in turn I have a Fudge basket that I might run with more matrix in it if the tunze 9001 doesnt work out (coming) -MP10 wQD -inTank Frag rock (2) - 5 lb LR -3 lb Sand (going to take down to less lb's till its barley covered probably -Cobalt Aquatics Neotherm 100w heater - 6.5 chemipure Live Stock: - Rainbow Acans - Duncans - Walking Aussie Duncan - Purple Tipped Frogspawn - Young Maxima Clam - Rock anemone -3 nassarius snails -3 Trochus Snail -3 Aussie young scolymia/s? LOL -Side plant is one of 3 succulents I got at a baby shower and decided to try to grow it under the XR-15 instead of my bedroom window lol, so if they switch out ever that why. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the tank! Plan on upgrading to a Lagoon 25 at some point this year I hope!
  6. On Thursday I picked 3 corals; 2 hammers and one frogspawn. Didn't mean to but the store was runnign a $19.99 sale on corals that are typically $60. These are the type of corals that made me decide I wanted a reef tank .so I ended up walking out with 3. To my eyes the other hammer (he looks like he has a micro feather duster in him) and froagspawn seem to be adjusting. The other tank inhabitants (PJ cardinal, Duncan, brain, candy cane and even my temperamental zoas plus various snails and hermits) look well. i got him in Thursday's and he looked grumpy, then on Friday he puffed up but today as you can see, next to the frogspawn he's retracted. My tank cycles a couple weeks ago and my parameters are below. Missing alkalinity and calcium. I'll run those tonight. I'll expect somewhere around 360 calcium (I just stared dosing) and 11. I want to try and minimize the amount of time I spend obsessively moving. Coral around my tank for obvious reasons but want to make sure it's comfortable and not stressed. My guess is that he's adjusting to my tank and the other two had an easier time; hat or they'll retract in a day or two. I also don't want to ignore warning signs either. appreciae any insight. SG 1.02 Tank Biocube Temp 78 Ammo 0 ppm Nitrites 0 ppm Nitrates less than 10 ppm pH 8.0 Alk Cal Phosphates 0 Last WC before adding the 3 corals on Thursday
  7. Hey everyone, I recently brought polyplab reefroids and just fed some for the first time to my frogspawn today. They seemed to be happy and flourishing after eating and a more than 6 hours after as well. After taking an hour nap I see them shrivelled and closed with mouths wide and they are ejecting an orange pellet that's similar colour to the reefroid. Is my coral okay? What can I do and what happened? Before and after pictures attached. On another note, what is that orange coral I have? I thought it was a zoa under my LFS low lights but I was wrong.
  8. Looking for frags preferably when it comes to the Frogspawn and Torch coral. When it comes to coloration I’m not to keen on green.

    Will LPS sting LPS

Hello all, Im striving to have a pico tank full of lps euphyllia and one small zoo colony. I am wondering if I will be able to pack torches hammers and frogspawn closely together without a coral warfare going on. If not, can I put the same corals together? For example hammer next to hammer, or torch next to torch? Any comments are appreciated!!:)
