    777s fluval evo 13.5

After starting a new job around October last year I decided to start a new tank with the goals of 1. Being easy to set up. 2. Ease of maintenance. Limited time during the summer and late fall mean little time for enjoyment and even less for tinkering and water changes. 3. Simple and stable. Keeping energy thing in one place with all equipment together and preferably in in the tank. 4. Nice outside appearance with a solid lid and minimal outside the tank. 5. Potential for upgrade later on. After researching looking at my lfs and browsing the forums I settled on the fluval evo 13.5. In the 3 months since I started the cycle and the 2ish months since I got my clownfish I've been very happy with it. Nice dimensions, decent flow with the stock pump, lights strong enough for the corals I'm currently interested in, and I don't think I'll ever have a tank without a lid again. I'm starting this journal to document how far I can go with just the stock equipment. Not to say I won't upgrade down the line but for now I'm just enjoying the simple tank. Start up in later December.
  2. My birdsnest is doing really good under my stock evo lighting. The polyps are getting much longer and have a lot of movement under the flow in my tank. It also looks like it’s starting to branch out a bit.

    Fluval 13.5 build

Hey guys how’s it going! I just recently bought a fluval 13.5 nano tank and decided I should start a forum on it to track the progress. My tank is already cycled I’ve had it going for about 5 weeks now. Everything in the tank is stock still no upgrades I wanted to ask people what are some of the best upgrades to start with. I am running the fluval ps2 mini skimmer and I’ve had pretty good results. I did use the biochem QuickStart and that is why my tank has gone through it’s cycleing process in a short time. I also have live reef rock and arganite. I did wait some time before adding new inhabitants to avoid spikes in my tank parameters. Inhabitants: 2 green/blue reef chromis 1 lawnmower Blenny 3 snails (forgot what type they are) 2 nassarius snails 1 designer clownfish (bought him today) 1 cleaner shrimp Corals: 1 Xenia frag 1 eagle eye zoanthid frag
  4. I started my new reef tank earlier this week (a fluval evo 13.5) and I added live rock, live sand (about 1.5 inches), and premium reef saltwater that my LFS mixed up for me. I’ve also been adding fluval cycle concentrated biological booster at the rate they suggest for a new tank. I have some questions regarding cycling. A lot of the videos I have watched online suggest first adding live rock, sand, and water, the next week adding a clean up crew, and then once the cycle is completed to add fish. However I’ve spoken on the phone with three of my LFSs and all three have told me to start my cycle by adding a fish. There is a lot of conflicting information out there, I was hoping that you guys could weigh in and give me some pros and cons with each option. If I decide to cycle with a fish, can I add a banggai cardinal fish? Additionally, when can I add coral?? This tank is primarily for coral, i'm just adding a fish or two for fun. A lot of articles that I have read say that I can add my coral now if I want, and that they won't be impacted by my tank cycling. Is this true? Lastly, if anyone has some suggestions on easy to care for corals, i'm always happy for more suggestions. Thanks so much!

Blastomussa??? Not sure but it’s doing well under the stock fluval lighting so far
  6. Hey all! Been lurking on this forum for several years, making a few posts here and there. I just set up another (this is my 4th) reef tank a little over three weeks ago and I'm very excited for it. The live rock I added is coming alive more and more every day, and copeopods are flourishing. Just added the first wave of my CUC a few days ago after params stabalized. Four dwarf hermits, one turbo snail, and one nerite snail. Have some good hitchhikers coming out of my rock as well. One small hairy legged reef crab, a few bristleworms, lots of those small starfish and one serpent star. Anyways here's a pic sorry if this went on and on, just excited to be back in the hobby. Thanks guys!
  7. One of my LPS corals is turning red around the edges. Does it look like it’s dying? It still extends its sweepers at night, not sure how to help it.

    Reefsenpai’s Fluval Evo 13.5

Hello all of Nano-Reef! The name is reefsenpai and I’m going to build the most beautiful Nano reef I can in my Fluval 13.5. I started the hobby with this AIO tank and really quickly upgraded to a Reefer 350. I definitely bit off more than I could chew and drifted away from the hobby but now the flame is back. Driven with the ideals of a small but full reef, I aim to make something beautiful. With this go-around, I’m taking the reefing golden rule to heart and be A LOT more patient. Please join and guide me on this journey. This is what I have so far: Tank: Fluval Evo 13.5 Lighting: Stock (AI Prime HD Upgrade) Heater: Cobalt Neo-Therm 100w Return: Ehiem CompactON 1000 Wavemaker: Hydor Koralia Nano 240 Filtration: InTank Chamber One Media Basket w/ filter pads, chemipure blue nano, and seachem matrix Skimmer: None (Reef Glass Nano Skimmer) ATO: None (AutoAqua Smart ATO Micro )
