  1. This is my first reef tank. I want to document how I started my reef tank. And the fun journey now begins. Spent only $150 on tank with stand. $200 for everything else with test kits. January 17th/ 2021 Started the tank off with Auqaforest BIO S. Fluval 13.5 reef tank Fluval reef tank stand 12 pounds of rock. Fluval sea mini protein skimmer Fluval salt salinity measure Fluval heater 40w Marina powered temp checker Aquaforest reefsalt 2kg bag Gravle vacuum Marina glass cleaner **Fluval led stock** retired March 2021 SPECIAL Thank you to WAI'S AQUARIUM LTD CALGARY, AB I wanted to try some really fine sand but that was a mistake and now have to switch it out with water changes as I clean tank. anyone have any experience with adding in sand should I do a cup a week to not make my level spike with the new sand that I will be adding in? January 20th 2020 added sand and rock to the tank. February 3rd 2020 added 4 snails, 3 crabs, two blue chromes, 2 long nose snails (forget what they are called lol).

    Some advice needed

Hi everyone, my name is Tim and have started this fun hobby some days ago. I went with a Red Sea Max Nano cause of its size an it fits in my home 😛 I have been reading and watching for weeks on the internet/books and started my reef. The plan is for it to make it a mixed reef. Mostly soft a bit of LPS and maybe SPS in the future I use Reel Reef Rock and Red Sea Live Sand. Also there is about 1KG of Biohome Ultimate Marine in the sump in the back. Currently i'm doing the Ammonia cycle and using the Red Sea Reef Mature Starter kit. I'm on day four and have already noticed the values in the manual are not my values 😛 It says I need about an ammonia reading of 1ppm and am on 0.2ppm, I guess it just will take some more time and will have patience and wait it out. My concern is that on other forums (i'm Dutch) some people said Real Reef Rock leaks heavy metals. I like heavy metal 🙂 but than in the music and don't think it is good for the tank. Anyone have similar experience with this? I hope to learn a lot from you all. And if you have any good beginner advice let me know! Pic's or it didn't happen
  3. I’ve been sitting against the wall staring at my 40 gallon breeder aquarium, and the thought popped into my head, how about Saltwater? I understand that the chemistry is vastly different, and I’m very experienced with freshwater, however saltwater intimidates me. My question is would it be possibly to turn this 40 gallon GLASS not ACRYLIC into a good saltwater aquarium, any information/suggestions would help, but my knowledge on saltwater is limited. I don’t not wish to heavily stock this aquarium because I understand that these creatures are delicate and require a more in depth knowledge.
  4. Hey reefers, So I finally got my tank and im so excited to get started, its a 40 gallon tank. I went with a AquaClear110 Hob filter (Hang on back) an Eheim 150w heater and a saltwater refractometer for today. Im heading back to the Lfs tomorrow to get all of the other goodies like test kits, power-head, lighting, dry rocks, carbon and other stuff like that and possibly a Hob protein skimmer. Im not looking to put many rocks in and only a couple corals also not to sure what stock is going in as of right now just want to get the water parameters thing down pat. Tell me what you think about my setup and feel free to leave any advice that you think would help, Thanks
