  3. Started this tank on March 30, 2017 with stock pump and filter sock, koralia nano from previous tank, and 5 lb of LR, and about 8.5 gallons of saltwater to start. The tank is almost a year old now and some upgrades have happened. (will take some better pics with the camera later) Equipment -IM Ti ATO (going to tunze nano ato) -Ran a kessil a80 for 11 months before going to a radion (diffusion kit/rm -Jbj 1/15 hp Chiller with 1.0 return -Sicce 0.5 return - inTank Media rack with 2 filer floss on top, seachem matrix, bottom two filter flosses -inTank universal media skimmer -was running a IM desktop Media Reactor with carbon but since the RMS mount is fairly big i had to remove the reactor (don't mind that because its freaking study!) So in turn I have a Fudge basket that I might run with more matrix in it if the tunze 9001 doesnt work out (coming) -MP10 wQD -inTank Frag rock (2) - 5 lb LR -3 lb Sand (going to take down to less lb's till its barley covered probably -Cobalt Aquatics Neotherm 100w heater - 6.5 chemipure Live Stock: - Rainbow Acans - Duncans - Walking Aussie Duncan - Purple Tipped Frogspawn - Young Maxima Clam - Rock anemone -3 nassarius snails -3 Trochus Snail -3 Aussie young scolymia/s? LOL -Side plant is one of 3 succulents I got at a baby shower and decided to try to grow it under the XR-15 instead of my bedroom window lol, so if they switch out ever that why. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the tank! Plan on upgrading to a Lagoon 25 at some point this year I hope!

    Coral recessing

Hey guys not sure what’s up but some of my corals look like they’ve been getting munched on (at the base of my Duncan’s for example), and acans receeding and lost one. I have no fish on my tank. I have 3 nassarius snails, 2 reg snails. The only thing moving about are copepods. There are a bunch of them in the tank as nothing eats em. In the tank is Purple tipped frogspawn, Acans, rock nem, Aussie Duncan, Duncan’s, 3 baby scolys, baby clam and a mushroom I just picked up (noticed The base of corals before adding the mushroom). I dip everything in Coral Rx multiple times. I am going to put both affected corals in some seachem revive tonight for about 10-15 min. Then put the scolys, shroom in a diff container and use rx on em (newer). sat another dipping? When I do my Dipping rn I will be taking out some sand bcs I eventually want to go bare bottom so I can see anything unusual. Stats: 78 F, 1.025, 8.5 dKH, 400-420 Ca, 1350-1400 Mg, P04 0.03-0.1. Dose daily and feed 1-2x per week never had any problems with anything. Super confused. Thanks for any help!

    Acan species only tank

Hi, I would love to set up a acan only reef tank that is 10 gallons or less.. ideally I would like an AIO tank.. also if it has a kit that comes with a light to happily support a variety of acans that would be great! If not some affordable light recommendations that would be compatible with the tank would be awesome! I would like to do no modifications to the tank and I was think maybe a cadlight 8 gallon or IM nuvo fusion 10 but have heard mixed options about both and the IM supposivly needs many modifications to get it up and running. Thanks and let me know
  6. Hello all, I currently have 2 acans (micromussa) in my young tank. They are doing well, all puffy and fleshy, and in the morning before the light switch on, I can see some tiny feeding tentacles coming out of them. Right now, they are on the sand bed, but the epoxy that I ordered will arrive soon and I am planning on gluing them to the rock. The exact position will be really close to where they currently are, around 2 cm from their current position on the sand bed. It will be towards the bottom of the tank. I know they are aggressive and can puke out their guts to digest their neighbors. But, are they aggressive towards fellow acans? Do brothers fight?

  9. Hi, I've seen videos were lobos and scolys lye next to each other and I really like the color contrast but in my experience, whenever closer, these corals attack each other. In two separate occasions my snails or fish had pushed an acan and a trachy next to a lobo and the lobo has digested part of those corals tissues. I've lost a piece of the acan and a big chunk of the trachy's head. For now, I've placed epoxy rings to prevent them for touching each other. Is it just this single lobo that is so aggresive? or should I definitively maintain a good distance beetween all of these corals? PD: in the pictures, the circular purple/green piece is the killer. The other two are its victims. Thanks
