I have no grand plans for this tank - I think I just want to let it develop on its' own. I do like a lot of movement, so I think a lot of softies and LPS would be fun, but I'm not set on a particular theme yet. I do want to keep this tank on a reasonable budget, but I want to get into some higher-tech stuff that I've never tried before: an ATO, and eventually, maybe an MP10 and Kessil lighting. For now, though, I'll be sticking with the line marked on the glass, some cheaper powerheads, and a black box LED fixture. I already own most of the fish this tank will be stocked with, so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm working with. Equipment: 40 Gallon Aqueon Glass Aquarium 40 Gallon Imagitarium Petco Stand Aqueon 700 Powerheads (2X, maybe replace one with a 950 at some point, and would like an MP10 in the future) Fluval E300 Heater Stock Lighting (for now - will be replaced with a cheap LED fixture once the tank is ready for coral) Rock and Sand: 36ish lbs of Marco Reef Savers rock (may not use all of it - just ordered tonight) 20ish lbs of Caribsea Aragonite Fish: Pair of Wyoming White Ocellaris Clownfish Chalk Bass Sharknose Goby Yellowatchman Goby (to be paired with a shrimp, hopefully) 1-2 more small fish if I feel the need Inverts: Assorted hermits and snails from Reefcleaners Coral Banded Shrimp Coral: TBD I'm considering adding on a HOB skimmer, but I'm not sure if I really need one. I don't plan to do many SPS, and I don't see myself keeping a "pristine" reef, anyway. I like my tanks kinda dirty. I'm probably going to order a MarsAqua 160W LED light whenever I recover from what I've spent on rock and equipment. Pics to come as soon as it's wet!

Hey everyone, I haven’t been on here in a while as things have been pretty stable luckily. No issues, no tears. I would like to put some more coral in my tank but first id like to make sure I have my head on straight and I want to get a protein skimmer to help with the nitrates. I don’t have a sump so I need a HOB one. I know I previously posted something very similar to this but I wanted something cheap. My budgets a little higher now. I still don’t want to spend so much, but more around $100-$200 . Any help is appreciated. Thanks. edit: it’s a 36 gallon.

Hey guys, as hurricane seasons come close I’ve been looking into a battery backup for my tank which I thought existed but I’m finding it difficult to find one. I’m looking for something like this with a lot of plug space but that will work for my tank. (This is for pc’s)

hi everyone! im upgrading from my 15 gallon column tank to an Aqueon 36 gallon bowfront tank. so far it's going great, I have 40 lbs live reef rock, 45 lbs crushed coral, 2 Hydor Koralia 425 gph powerhead, 2 aqueon 100 watt heaters, and an Aqueon 50 filter. the only issue I'm having is that I have no idea where or how to put my rocks, so I'm looking for inspiration please! even its not a 36 gallon. just show me your pics of your purple live rock! also any advice for transferring fish would be appreciated!

Hello everyone, I’m upgrading from my 15 gallon column tank to a 36 gallon. In my 15 gallon I had live aragonite sand, but I could never clean the sand correctly and it got orange and brown and truly disgusting looking. It was really difficult to clean. I’ve decided I think I’m going to try the crushed coral this time but I need some help with my decision. #1, I need to know if I’m making the right decision by getting the crushed coral instead of the sand. If im making a bad decision by switching to crushed coral, is there an easier way to clean the sand without it going absolutely everywhere, clouding your tank, and hiding in between the rock? I tried a siphoner, I tried a net, I even tried grabbing it with my bare hands. Nothing seemed to work. The pellets just stayed there or hid deeper into the sand. They’re 1mm sinking pellets if that helps. #2, I’m wondering which of these crushed corals are better, regardless of their price or value for the price. Just quality. First Option // Second Option #3 Any advice for switching and upgrading is much appreciated!! Thanks in advance
