I have been out of the Reef tank game for a few years and recently got back in it in the last year. However, I do not have an RO/DI system and have been using store bought gallons of distilled water for water changes and top offs. I have never ever had such a problem with hair algae and cyano in my life! Anyone else have this issue with store bought water? I'm using tropic marin bio-actif reef salt. Hard corals are growing like crazy though and loving every bit of it, so are the nems. Zoas and ricordea are melting.

Hello. I'm new to the site. I've really been enjoying reading and learning. I'm at the beginning stages of building a 15gal nano tank. So far this is the equipment I have Aqueon 15 gal Column tank QuietFlow Power Filter (pro?) 10? (kit) T5 lighting (kit) (1) Hydor Koralia 240GPH circulation pump - I'll probably get another, just not sure if another 240 would be good or a 425 50W submersible heater 25# dry rock CaribSea live sand - (course/larger) - 20# I want to upgrade the filter. I'm considering the Fluval C2 or C4 or the AquaClear 50 or 70. thoughts? other options? I'll need to upgrade the lighting as well in order to introduce coral. From what I understand, I can keep the kit lighting through the first cycle though. I wasn't planning on adding a sump or refugium just yet. just trying to take it slow. My next steps are getting the dry rock set up, painting the back (outside) of the tank with Plasti Dip, and getting the cycle started. I have some various conditioners, bacteria, etc. to add as well. once I get something set up, I'll add photos any suggestions on additional equipment/upgraded equipment would be appreciated! I'd like to get a filter ordered soon. So excited to get things moving!
