    The Super Scary Sump

I just got my first sump tank and I'm a little paranoid (ok, alot) that the thing is going to flood my house. I've already had a few near floods and I definitely don't trust this thing. The sump is like this insatiable monster that continues sucking water out of the tank and making this not-so-pleasant sucking sound. Are all first-time sump users paranoid? Will I just need to build trust with my aquarium over time? There does not seem to be a way to stop the perpetual sucking sound. I will call the Reef Octopus people on Monday and see why their tank is so LOUD. If there isn't a fix, it looks like I'm out of luck. Return policies don't really seem to exist in the aquarium business unless the product is defective. I get it but maybe I should buy from Amazon.com next time? I was looking at the Aquaforest OceanGuard 435 (82gal Aquarium) and this Polish company seems to have some amazing products. Their products come with human-readable instructions and helpful tips. My Reef Octopus came with a few diagrams. Anyway, my house is not flooded... yet.

    25 cube

Hello again nano reef! New FTS: Itโ€™s been about a year since Iโ€™ve been active with reefing, everything kind of fell apart after my 80g shallow build was put on hold due to a bit of oversight on my part.. (electrical issues ๐Ÿ˜…). After that my temporary/quarantine tank became my only tank and it wasnโ€™t set up with that intention so I lost interest. I finally realized I had all this equipment lying around and here we are. I picked up an aquamaxx 25g cube and overflow and pulled some of the unused equipment out of the basement. Not the massive dream tank or the 80g but until I have a more stable situation this will work nicely! Iโ€™m just hoping I can get some real results this time around. Iโ€™ll be getting turbo start today, once cycled Iโ€™ll be transferring my fish, inverts, and surviving coral slowly to this tank along with my mp10 and nanobox mini. Still canโ€™t decide if I want to seed the sump with my live rock.. thereโ€™s some bubble algae and aptasia for sure not sure what else. Please excuse the mess of cords, going to try and build a little cabinet to go to the left of the sump to hide those and various tools/fish food. Thanks for reading!

    Bay Area Nuvo 10

Hi all, and hi to the Nuvo 10 community! For the past year or so, I've been wanting a reef of my own, and I'm now addicted. I decided on the Innovative Marine Nuvo 10 for the compact size and transportability, given that I plan to take it to college eventually. As of the moment I am writing this, I currently have put the rock and sand into the tank, after cycling the rock for about 3 weeks in a 5-gallon bucket using Fritz Turbo Start. The sand is Fiji Pink, and the rocks are Walt Smith 2.1. I have the tank on the 10 gallon white JBJ Nano Cubey Stand, which looks really great with the tank. Equipment List IM Nuvo 10 Tank 10 Gallon White JBJ Nano Cubey Stand AI Hydra 26 HD (Modified AB+ Settings) Cobalt Neo-Therm 50 watt heater (best heater on the market) Sicce Syncra .5 Return Pump Vortech mp10wqd inTank Media Basket (Running inTank filter floss, 2 chemi pure blue nano packets, and 1 marinepure cube) Tunze Nano ATO (Not running a skimmer, I'm running 4 MarinePure cubes in the second chamber) Aquatic Life 100gpd RODI unit Tropic Marin Pro Reef salt (mixes extremely fast) Tank as of August 16, 2019. No light or ATO yet. Tank as of October 2, 2019. Hydra 26 with diffuser has been added. Snails, hermits, and goby have been introduced. No corals quite yet.

  16. I have a used Reef Octopus 110int Skimmer that I no longer have use for. I used it for a few weeks before buying another Reef Octopus with a footprint that works better for my sump. The intake for the pump was broken off at the body of the skimmer, reconnected with Weldon # 4 and allowed to cure 48 hours before seeing water. The break was clean and easily repaired. There was a small crack in the body that I spread Weldon over as well. The collection cup has a couple chips and cracks as well. Despite all the imperfections, everything works perfectly and this thing skims like a beast.Asking $65.00 cash or equivalent payment type. Pick up in Yorba Linda, SoCalOpen to trades for an ATO Reservoir or SPS frags.PM or text. 562.652.8202Thanks, Justin

    CADlight's 45g Shallow

TANK: 45g Shallow LIGHTING: 24" Reef Breeders V2+ w/2 Sunblaster T5's (ATI blue+ and ATI coral+) CONTROLLER: Apex Classic ATO: Tunze Osmolator FRESHWATER CONTAINER: Stock Cadlights 3 gallon POWERHEAD: Vortech MP-10QD RETURN PUMP: Reef Octopus VarioS-2 HEATER: (2) Ehiem 100w SKIMMER: Reef Octopus Classic 110s SUMP: Stock Cadlights 25 gallons (maybe) PLUMBING: Custom by yours truly. Added ball valves, check valve and break out unions. Bulk Reef Supply red pipe with grey and white fittings. I used 40lb of Billy's Reef Connection dry rock. For the cleaning method I used 1 week in RO/DI and bleach (10 gallons of water to 1 gallon of bleach). After that was 1 week in RO/DI and I added Seachem Prime twice. Then they dried out for 3 days in the sun before adding to tank. The rocks are said to have been "lab tested" and showed just trace amounts of phosphorus in the results so I trusted him and chose to not do muratic acid cure or the 2-3 months in Saltwater with GFO and water changes. Time will tell if I made a mistake or not. The sand bed is 30lbs of dry sand. I used Caribsea flamingo reef which was rinsed for about 1.5 hours until the water ran clear. So as of today the cycling process has been going on for 1 week. It's the usual......Lights off, skimmer off and 2 ppm of Dr. Tim's ammonia once and Dosing of Microbacter7 every day for the first 2 weeks and then wait. You know the drill............ i'll also be ditching the peg legs holding up my light right now. I just haven't bought the galvanized piping to build my own little arms to hang it from. FUTURE UPGRADES: Lighting for chaeto in the sump Salinity Probe and proper Apex module to run it More flow FTS: 11/14/18 FTS: 12/22/18
