I decided to try pairing a true percula and a black saddleback ocellaris. I introduced them to the tank at the same time and made sure to have a plan in place to separate them if things went wrong. They've only been together for a week now, but I haven't seen any signs of aggression or bullying. Last night they slept in their anemone together. It's too cute!

Hi All, I originally purchased two ocellaris clownfish a year and 2 months ago hoping to create a mated pair. When I bought them they were supposedly juveniles according the shopkeeper, and I bought one slightly larger than the other. The fish fought a lot at the beginning, then it slightly subsided, and now it is just constant fighting. From what I read most clowns pair pretty much immediately or within 2ish months. Is this window for pairing over? Do I need to get rid of one of these clownfish at this point? Here is a link to a video of them fighting here: Thanks, Chris

Had these two clowns for nearly a year, ate together, swam together, slept together - the smaller has been submissive since day-one. About a month ago I'm assuming the larger started to properly-mature into a female and became very aggressive towards the smaller, so much so that she chased him around essentially all day, then all night, and was still chasing him in the morning. Even if he hid she would pursue him. I put her in a breeder box for a week and reintroduced them, the female acted as if nothing had changed and didn't attack at all, they ate, swam, and slept together again for about two weeks. The last week she's become somewhat rougher during the day causing some minor fin-damage, but at night she will aggressively attack the smaller until he hides on the other side of the tank - sometimes causing some nasty fin damage, panicked surface-splashing, and a desperate little fish who doesn't even try to fight back. I'm not overly concerned about most of the fin damage as its' pretty superficial, however one of the two lower-leading fins is in tatters and has been torn near-totally-through in multiple places, and the dorsal fin is showing spines. No damage to the body, the pectorals, or the tail fin - no damage to either's mouth either. How damaged is too damaged and at what point do two clowns, who get along during the day and swim together -but not at night-, need to be separated as incompatible? I've never run into anything like this before, any help is appreciated.

I just got a tiny yellow watchman goby, and I would like to pair him with a shrimp. I’m wondering if anyone has a suggestions on the specific species of shrimp. Additionally, my goby is TINY. He's likely to be way smaller than any shrimp I get, is this a problem? Have you guys had success pairing a goby with a larger shrimp? Does anyone have any suggestions on convincing the goby and the shrimp to pair up? Thanks!!

My friend has one Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish for around 4 to 5 years now (caught in the wild as one), just moved it to a 40-gallon tank. I am thinking to get her another clownfish, but not the same one. Maybe a Black Snowflake or a Black Ice Snowflake, will they be able to get along together? I like the gold nugget maroon clownfish but its different species and maroons are pretty aggressive. Any other good clownfish recommendations? Thank youuuu ! P.S. I do not know much about clownfish.

So I know this has come up countless times in the past, but I'm trying to get a little more of a gameplan... The She (about 1.5-1.75" Phantom ocellaris currently in breeder box jail): The He (about 1"-1.125" Snowflake ocellaris currently free in tank): So I am trying to get an idea of the following: Does the Phantom (bigger and apparently more aggressive) belong in jail? Or should I put the smaller injured Snowflake into isolation? How long do people recommend to keep them separated? So far it's the second day of separation. Is it better to separate for a long period and reintroduce, or do it multiple times for shorter jail time? How long do tail fins take to heal up? I imagine it would not be worth waiting that long to reintroduce the Phantom.

Will a "designer" and a "standard" clownfish form a bonded pair, provided they are both Ocellaris? Is a bonded pair more likely to host in a coral/anemone/etc. than a singleton, since the pair would have to find somewhere to spawn? What are the ideal "surrogate anemone" corals for a pair of clownfish? I'd like my clownfish to host in a beautiful, easy-to-keep beginner coral that they're not gonna bother in anyway. With so many people keeping clownfish pairs in nano reefs, where anemones are big no-no, I don't understand why there isn't a list of good "surrogate anemone" corals for clownfish pairs. Is the hosting behaviour so unpredictable? Many suggest toadstool, frogspawn, duncan. But in some cases the clownfish pair had a negative effect on the coral. -
I’m fairly new to the saltwater scene but do have quite a bit of experience with freshwater. I have a Fluval evo 13.5, I did fully cycle my tank and test frequently I even added a clean up crew before adding fish to make sure my tank is ready for fish. My local LFS had a Wyoming White clownfish and a couple of regular ocellaris fish separately. I loved the Wyoming Clown but wanted a pair and through my research I learned it’s better to add the clowns in the tank together at the same time if i want better chances of them pairing so I got an ocellaris that was significantly smaller than the Wyoming. They’ve been in my tank now for about 2 weeks. It took a couple of days for them to eat but after that they’ve been eating just fine. I alternate between feeding them palettes and mysis shrimp, sometime they even get a few bites of seaweed that I feed clean up crew. So my concern is I’ve been noticing the Wyoming white striking the smaller clown which is typical pairing behavior BUT the small one doesn’t do that ticking/twitching that I read they’re supposed to do. He just swims away and goes about his business. He doesn’t show any signs of stress and he eats just fine. I do see them together at night most of the time by the power heads. (Not sure if they hosted on them). My question is does the male clown ALWAYS do the ticking when pairing? Are mine paired already but just not doing the ticking thing?? Should I be concerned? Maybe the small one or even both are still too young to pair? The LFS employee assured me that they are compatible because they’re both ocellaris, was he wrong and maybe they’re not???? Thanks in advance for any advice you may have. Sorry for the shitty pictures. I took screenshots from a video so y’all can see the size difference. Once again the small fish was not in a tank on his own. He was in a group of about 10+.

Is it possible to pair basslets or psuedochromis in a 30 gallon?

I know this is possible in larger systems but I'm curious as to opinions if this would be possible in a tank as small as mine.
