Orbit Marine lighting help! (noob)-- 20 gallon long

Hey guys! So I've dipped into getting some beginner softie and lps corals and I'm a complete noob to all this lighting jargon and was wondering what y'all would reccomend. As the title says I have an orbit marine IC Loop lighting fixture (this guy right here: https://www.amazon.com/Current-USA-Marine-Aquarium-60-Inch/dp/B00GFTNG3S?th=1). I'm aware it can keep softies lps and some lower light heartier sps if placed at the top, however what exactly should I keep the lighting at. It has a standard mode with the RGB that has everything at 100% which is super bright and white, and I like it for the most part but the corals don't really pop. I tried a setting with 70% blue and 70% red and it makes a really nice purple color that make the corals look awesome and fluoresce. I would like to keep this kind of lighting all the time so the corals always look that good, right now I've just been switching to the purple color at nighttime. My question is if I leave it at the purple color 24/7 is that enough light for the corals to grow? I'm a little confused about how the par works in with this light. Current USA (the company) has a diagram giving general par at certain depths, but they don't say how much light is being put out. Am I to assume that just means the light has to be on full power with all led colors maxed out to get those outputs, or could I receive the same par if I just did all blues? Anyways if anyone could help clear some of this up and suggest led percentage combinations that would be great! Thanks! -

So upgraded the stock lights on the Fluval EVO 13.5 to Current USA Orbit Marine LED. I was then thinking if it was a good idea to run the stock Fluval EVO lights as well (maybe just on blue). The EVO has 31 LEDs at 16w and the Orbit Marine has 72 LEDs at 18w. I did notice that the Fluval lights are much brighter (Not sure what this means in terms of output). The EVO measures 22", 15" deep, and 11" wide. I currently have the Orbit about 4-5 inches from the surface. The stock EVO light used to sit about 2-3 inches from the surface. These are the PAR rating for the Marine Orbit. I couldn't find PAR readings for the Fluval EVO stock light from the manufacturer; I did read a post on another reef forum where someone measured the PAR around 225 at the surface. Has anyone tried this? This is just stuff that I am thinking about.

Selling my 24'' Current Marine Orbit PRO VERSION. Used for 2 months, with blues @60%, whites @ 30% on my 20 long. I decided I missed the t5 & went back. This light does very well, all frags grew in size & colored up nicely. Im just old school I guess & missed my t5's. My next tank will be bigger so I have no use for this light. Comes w/ everything, ramp timer, remote, instructions, original box. $150 including shipping.

Do I need more light? Browning problems on some corals!

Hello everyone, Its been a while since I've posted here! Looking at my old pictures, I see now I obviously have a browning problem. So I went to google of course to get to the bottom of it! And got only some questions answered. I have done a ton of forum searches and see that a lot of post about LED's and what not are many years old, and always seem to turn into an argument about "Why you should switch back to MH Lights" Well now that were all in 2017 and know that Coral can in fact thrive under LED's (And some of my corals have almost doubled in size!) lets start a modern conversation about lighting on Shallow Nano Tanks. Perhaps someone has a great link I can read on for this? So here is my question, I am running my Orbit Marine Pro LED at 85% Blue, and 16% white. After some reading, I think I need to raise it up. Browning coral is from too little light and zooxanthellae builds up to feed the coral in place of light correct? And with more intense light, the zooxanthellae will release, and the coral will Color up "Like a Tan" to protect it in a way from the light from what I'm reading, is this also correct? I ask because recently one of my SPS has started bleaching, so I thought it was too much light. so i turned it down about 5% But it is browning... so now I'm thinking its too little. Its also barley grown. However my Octospawn LPS coral has almost doubled in 4 months, and my Plate coral (An sps) and GSP is also growing. So I was under the impression i had enough or possibly too much light... So all I'm after here, is lighting information. More White, more blue? How does this effect Color/Growth & zooxanthellae? I want less brown! I start with 1 hour blue from 0% - 85% over a 30 minute Ramp up, and it runs for 7 hours and ramps back down over 30 minutes to 0%. (Total of 8 hours blue) And my Whites I run 15 minutes after the Blue lights start, and over half an hour ramp to 16%. Then run for 6 hours and ramps back down to 0% over 30 minutes. (Total of 7 hours white) How many hours do you run your lights? What pattern do you run? Blue first then white then blue? Start with white, finish with blue? What are your Light Programs/Percentages? Lets talk LED lights & Coral! P.S. Since everyone always ask about Water conditions, I keep my tank about 77-78 Degrees My Salinity is - 0.025 My calcium is - 415-430 Alk - 9 Nitriates - 0 Nitrates - 0.5 Phosphates - 0 to 0.5 Running Carbon, and Chemi Pure Elite & Skimmer.
