  1. Ok everyone I have been looking to replace my MJ1200 return pump for a silent one. We recently moved to a new studio apartment and noise has become an issue with it. I was looking around and there isn’t that much information as to what pumps fit comfortably and silently into the return chamber of this tank. the MJ1200 is , of course, discontinued, but the dimensions according to BRS are Dimensions - 6" x 3" x 2" it has been running for two years but we had a larger house before where the tank sat in a different room to where we sleep ...now here we are. the IM Mighty Jet (326gph) seems like an obvious choice, but it is $109. Not a problem but you do have to take a step back before you just dish out a hundred bux. I haven’t been able to find anyone using this pump in this tank, except for one snippet of a video on YouTube (scroll to 0:46) that shows it put into the tank, but only for a second and the pump looks like it doesn’t really fit except for an awkward placement where it is touching all the walls of the chamber.... doubt that will be very silent. But who knows...? The sicce silent line is pretty convincing but there are many mixed reviews out there. Some say it isn’t silent, others say the opposite. at this point, it isn’t the cost that is the issue, it’s the silence that I desperately seek. The tank has a Vortech mp10, so all I really need is to push water back into the tank, I would guesstimate ~200gph should do the trick...

    Biocube 29 and Equipment

Selling my entire setup. Open to offers everything is shippable except the tank and stand. Everything is sold as is. And OBO Oceanic Biocube 29. Pretty good shape for an old tank. Hood has been modified with LEDs I purchased the tank years ago with this already done. So I can't remember exactly what is in there. I do know there are white, blue, exotic and moon lights all on separate channels. I controlled them using the bluefish controller. The exotic string stopped working. I assume this is a wiring issue but not sure. When I had this tank up I fixed wiring issues several times. Oceanic Biocube 29 - $250 pickup only Biocube 29 stand - $75 pickup only Biocube 29 intank media basket - $30 Bluefish LED controller w/ power supply - $100 Mj1200 - only a few months old - $10 Everything all together - $300 pickup only I will be listing some other stuff here shortly. Heater, pumps, etc.
  3. Hey just wondering if anyone who has the biocube 32 and is also using the cobalt version of the MJ1200 as a return pump has heat issues in their tank.... my heater had never came on ever.... the tank stays at a constant 79-80 degrees.... (which is fine) stock LEDs.... no other equipment but the InTank tray with floss, purigen and chemipure elite... Other than 2 aqamai KPS wavemakers on all sorts of random flow patterns and they make no difference in temp (heater is located in chamber 1 and it’s a cobalt neotherm and also is indicating that the temp is around 79-80- by the flashing light) but everywhere in the tank is the same temp... the DT, and all 3 chambers... (my temp probe is in chamber 3 with the MJ) and it reads the same... I have even used an external thermometer and it reads the same like 78.9, 79.5.... always consistent (I know that’s what’s important I just want to make sure there’s nothing wrong with my MJ because I know they can shut off when they overheat (it has NOT done this yet).... only other thing Hong I can think of is that it’s very new and I keep everything very clean MJ included.... is is possible that its creating that much heat? I read others that very commonly use this upgrade but they always mention having a heater?? So I’m lost.... thanks for any help...
  4. I took out the stock pump on my coralife biocube 32 and I am replacing it with a cobalt mj1200 (The good Italian one not the maxi jet) im having some issues getting it to fit properly and how to make sure the tube doesn’t come off... (it seems loose but it’s 1/2” ID- standard tube for the BC) also when i attach the little protector part for the impeller it’s just barely touches the sponge... not sure if that’s an issue or not.... anyone who has this in the Coralife BC 32 could you please show me a picture of how yours is set up or if you needed to zip tie the tube or put something on the tube to hold it in place once there is water pressure (I’m afraid of it blowing off) here are some pictures.... some have the protector for the impeller on it (which I’d prefer to keep) and some don’t (first 2 do not have the protector, second 2 do have it) I will be running Chaeto with an InTank Fuge basket so I’ve been advised by them to keep the sponge in and just buy a spare and replace it once every 2 weeks (will probably just swap once a week with water changes and then rinse it out with ro/di water and let it dry out and then just keep swapping them back and forth... every week or 2 to protect my pump) any suggestions of better placement or making the hose stay on would be great!

    How to replace return pump

So long story short the company I ended up getting my mj1200 from (original use was for good salt mixing) and they ended up sending me 2 by mistake and told me to keep the second free of charge, as it was their error and I am a good customer... So this is my very first saltwater tank (actually my sons) so we are just getting a handle on getting things set up (got the stand together last night and will be working on the aquarium this week... so now now that I have the extra pump I have heard ALOT of people are changing out their return pumps with the mj1200 (mine are both the cobalt version, not the cheap Chinese made ones) So after all that... it’s a Coralife biocube 32 and I am wondering... to put it bluntly... how the heck do I replace the pump? I have no idea where to start and I have read about directors (some use the stock one I guess and others have replaced that as well) and also that the tubing doesn’t quite fit right... so what is used to replace that or fix that problem... i basically need a step by step video (tried to find one on YouTube) or simple instructions on how to do it and what else I may need.... any help would be great if you need more info on what other stuff will be going in just ask... Thank you for your help!!
