  3. After being out of the reefing hobby for a bit, got the bug again and decided to go nano! Wanted a smallish AIO and the IM Nuvo Fusion 10 fit the bill. Below is a link to a short video of me setting it up (including a serious brain-fart!) and a couple of pics. I'll post updates periodically.
  4. FTS/Top-down progression! March 31, 2018: March 2018: February 2018: January 2018: October 2017: July 2017: *Disclaimer: the photo quality seemed a lot better on my phone now that I'm seeing them on the computer. Sorry for the bad quality! For older photos and set-up, please keep reading! Hello and thank you for stopping in! I hope to use this as a diary for myself, but I so enjoy seeing other Lagoons that I thought I would document mine for others to see also. Let me preface this by introducing myself! I'm a Canadian reefer and I share a common addiction with many of you. I first ventured into saltwater reef tanks in the spring of 2016 with a used (and a then-10-year-old-unit!!) JBJ Nano Cube 12g and I was instantly hooked. In January, so a little over a year ago now, I had decided on an IM Lagoon 25g as being the perfect next step for me, keeping the 12g running. Sadly, the old 12g finally kicked the bucket in the spring of 2017. Really, the hood/fans/lights went on it. Could have been an easy fix, but it was a better decision at that time to take down the 12g and put my focus into making the 25g the best I could make it! I kept and used everything in the 12g except my dear clown, which I sold to a great home. She loved Xenia! With that out of the way! Whew. I'd like to start by putting up all of the word stuff and then a photo progression. Let's begin... It all began on a wintery January 21, 2017: Tank: - Innovative Marine NUVO Aquarium - Fusion Lagoon 25 Gallon (no sump) - DIY stand (sort of, you'll see) Flow: - Stock pump - Jebao PP-4 Wavemaker Heaters: - Eheim Jager TruTemp Submersible 50W - Fluval M50 Submersible (50W) Light: - Aqua Illumination Prime + mounting arm ATO: - AUTOAQUA Smart ATO micro + 2g reservoir Water: - Purchased by 5g bottles of RO at store, has done me well, but would like to upgrade eventually - Plan is to go with a 4-stage Spectrapure RO/DI unit. Just need to pull the trigger already and do it. - November 2017: I did it! SpectraPure CSPDI 2:1 Manual Flush 90-GPD RO/DI Rock, Salt & Sand: - Marco Rock (~15 lbs, want/need more!) Now at least 25lbs. - CaribSea Arag Alive Fiji Pink Sand (20 lb. bag) - Red Sea Salt (175g blue bucket) Switched to Fritz RPM, thinking of switching to plain Instant Ocean Misc: - Innovative Marine Mesh Screen Lid Kit (lol we will look into this later...) - Innovative Marine Custom Caddy Marine Basket (Nano) x2 - Stock filter socks (not in use) - Filter floss - Chemi-pure Elite, Chemi-pure Blue, Purigen and regular GAC on standby Since the summer 2017 I've been running Chemipure-Elite; in November 2017 supplemented ROX 8.0 carbon; February 2018 started using Purigen - Test kits: Red Sea Marine Care Test Kit (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH and alk), Salifert for calcium, magnesium and alkalinity - Refractometer: ATC Vertex (also use a Sybon); November 2017: after suspecting some salinity issues, I've been calibrating using Brightwell, Tropic Marin AND PinPoint calibration solutions Notes on Maintenance: - Weekly ~3-5 gallon water changes. Every. Week. No excuses! - Currently only running filter floss and a little carbon/GFO in the caddy - No protein skimmer (yet); now running Reef Octopus NS80! - No dosing (yet); February 2018: waiting for ESV B-Ionic to arrive next week Fish: - Yellow Watchman Goby, ~1.5 inches (added March 30, 2017) RIP my little jumping bean - 2x Black Misbar Ocellaris, ~1.75 inches (added March 31, 2017); February 2018: approx. 3 inches and 2 inches long - 1x Banggai Cardinalfish, ~2 inches (added July 15, 2017); February 2018: approx. 3 inches long - 1x Citron Goby, ~1.75 inches (added July 15, 2017); February 2018: 2-2.5 inches long - 1x Cherub Angelfish, ~3/4 inch (added February 9, 2018, very tiny!) I hope I'm not forgetting anything... this is long enough. I like to keep it real simple. The tank is at the office so I can fiddle with them throughout the day, whenever, but it can't be too complicated. Low maintenance is the goal, though I'm so consumed by it that I spend a lot more time on the tank than I really need to. I chose to keep it as low cost as I could, while not compromising with things that are "cheap" and/or unreliable. I've been happy with all purchases so far, no major issues or scares, and will just have to drool over all of the high end equipment others get to play with! Thanks for looking!

  6. Update - 02/11/2018 The tank is officially 1.5 months old. Going through the ugly phase. Edit: This is funny. So funny. Apparently I ordered Fusion 20, NOT, the Lagoon 25. I'm not complaining, but I seriously thought I ordered the Lagoon. Oh well, now I dont have to think about the net top. Hello all, I finally took the step of ordering an IM Nuvo Lagoon 25 after admiring all of your beautiful tanks for almost a year. I have experiences in keeping a freshwater planted tank and I am now brave enough to take my snorkel to plunge into the world of a saltwater aquarium. I think saltwater will suit me just like freshwater does, because of my geekiness. My freshwater tank is over-engineered; I use a temperature probe, a light dependent resistor to measure general light level, and 2 Atlas Scientific, ph and conductivity (plus TDS) probes, connected to my Arduino, which is connected to my Raspberry Pi, which is connected to a website that logs live data feed from my tank. I also use a dosing pump to dose macro, micro and glutaraldehyde solutions 7 times each day in small amounts. I have 3 schools of Southeast Asian fish, and I am still not done as I haven't found my centerpiece fish. For my saltwater tank, I am planning to have a minimal amount of fish, preferably 1, up to a maximum of 2 fish. Hopefully, someone can suggest a stunning, centerpiece fish. As for corals, I would like to keep everything, softs, LPS and SPS. But, I would probably stay away from genus like Euphyllia, because I don't think this tank will be big enough for their poofiness. The one coral that I saw that literally took my breath away and probably the reason why I want to set this tank are Chalices. Man, I love how velvety their flesh looks like and how crazy the color of their mouths. I also saw some Leptoseris that looks like the outer hull of the Borg spaceship. So cool. I don't understand the appeal of Scolymia and Cynarina. So, I would like suggestions for my plans and some suggestion regarding stocking. I may use this December to cycle the tank - I have Cycle and Pristine from my freshwater tank and some ammonia too. Will be using dry rock with live sand. Here are my plans; Fauna - Vertebrate One or two fish - Preferably Not Clownfish (nothing against Nemo, but I think it's overdone, it's like the Neon Tetra of freshwater fish) Fauna - Mobile invertebrates (Are these too much? Considering that I only have maximum 2 fish) Fire shrimps X 2 Trochus snails X 2 Nassarius snailx X 2 Blue legged hermit crab X 2 Fauna - Sessile invertebrates (From the highest to lowest priorities) Chalice - Medium light, medium flow Leptoseris - Low light, low flow Cyphastrea - Low light, moderate flow Acropora - High light, high flow Favia - High light, low flow I think its pretty clear that I like encrusting corals with colorful mouths. LOL. Acan (Micromusa) - Low light, low flow Blasto - Low light, low flow Duncan - Medium light, medium flow Ricordea - High light, low flow Zoas - Low light, high flow Encrusting Monti - High light, high flow Hardware (Purchased) Innovative Marine NUVO Aquarium - Fusion Lagoon 25 Tunze comline Skimmer 9001 Aqua Illumination Hydra 26 HD Aqua illumination Hydra Flex Arm Ecotech Marine Vortech MP10wQD Quietdrive Water Care Aquatic Life RODI Buddie Hydrometer ATO Tunze Osmolator 3152 5G Food Grade Water Container Consumables Red Sea ABC Red Sea ABCD Trace Color Red Sea Coral Pro Salt Test kits Central Command Conductivity Probe ph Probe Full isolation shield Temp Probe Arduino Uno Arduino wireless shield Strike Force Etekcity smart plug (Can be hacked to turn on and off from the internet) Jebao DP-4 Auto Dosing Pump - Master A bunch of empty pop bottles for the ABC solutions, I am not gonna shell out money for $40 dosing "containers" 01/09/2018 - Video looks better than picture. 12/27/2017

    New fusion 10 build updates!

Hi everyone! I am going to be starting an official journal for our new fusion 10 build Quick background on us, we had a 75 gallon for about 4 years, bought a house and when the tank moved we lost almost everything over about 6 months and realized with the new house we didn’t have the time. Now that we’ve settled we have decided to try a nano tank and hope to re set up our 75 in the future. We started the tank cycling the end the end of December 2017. Cycle is complete and water parameters are good. Had a short stage of cyanoalgae but rearranged the rocks and added a powerhead for more flow and have not had any issues since. What we have as of now: im fusion 10 tank upgraded media basket caddy with filter floss and chemipure nano ghostmate desktop skimmer hydor nano powerhead 4 pounds of live rock with 1 large dry rock that has since been seeded 7lbs of Carib sea bahama oolite sand AI prime hydra light with flex arm mount LIVESTOCK 1 firefish 4 nasarius snails 2 turbo snails looking to add a black clown goby and a citron goby and some more cleanup crew We had a massive bloom of copepods which have since dwindled to a smaller amount. One morning I came out and the entire tank was full of them ? Will be slowly adding corals to the tank as well. We currently have one little favia frag that was pretty cheap and basically our test piece to see how it does. Thinking of doing mostly lps corals, but not really sure exactly at this point. We are looking into auto top off systems please give your recommendations! Also what other parameters should we be testing testing regularly besides ph, sg, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite? Thank you!!

    Phil's Fusion 20

Hey everyone. This tank has been running just over a year and is doing pretty well, seems like the right time to do a build thread. IM fusion 10 new set up

Okay so this is our new IM fusion 10 set up that’s been running for about 5 weeks now. What do you all think? We’ve been in the hobby for awhile however this is our first nano tank. We would like some tips and pointers on powerheads, and filter media. We haven’t put all of the gadgets to use yet as the tank is cycling. currently, fusion 10 tank AI hydra prime light with flex arm upgraded media caddy ghost desktop skimmer spin stream nozzle upgrade 7lbs of live bahama oolite sand 5lbs of live rock and a 3 lb dry rock current readings for cycle ph 8.15 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 10mg/dl im noticing this sand likes to blow around easily, wondering if we should take some out or add some coarser sand to the sand bed ????

    Reef Glass protein skimmer!!

Hello all! I just installed my reef glass protein skimmer last night on my one month old Nuvo 10G i wanted to know if this is how much the bubbles should rise up to the stopper, i heard the further away from the stopper, the dryer the skimmate, and the closer to the stopper, the wetter the skimmate(what reef glass suggests). i wanted a mix or balance if you will of both. Here is where the bubbles rise up to now, they dont really touch the stopper, but they get near it let me know your inputs and what works best for you guys!! This little reefglass is epic!!!

    Ryan's IM Nuvo 10

Welcome all! I have just set up my Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 10. This is a downgrade from a 20g long in which I installed a DIY AIO overflow. My fish and corals are being held in a friend's tank. There have been a few casualties, but that's always a risk in reef keeping. I have a spot to get LR from for a great price, and I'll be getting some established water as well to speed up my cycle a bit, so hopefully I can get all my inhabitants into the Nuvo 10 a little sooner. Here's the equipment that I'll be running: Aquamaxx NemoLight 18w LED Aquamaxx FR-SE Reactor Accel Aquatics LED Fuge strip Tunze Silent 1073.008 39.6-211GPH Return Pump Hydor Theo 50w heater Auto Aqua Smart Micro ATO As you can probably tell, I'll be running a Chaeto reactor. While this won't be a significant source of nutrient export, It will still help keep other algae from growing in the display, as well as make a nice refuge for pods. I'm debating wether or not to get a Reef Glass skimmer, but that's down the road. My main plan with the tank is Euphyllia. If anyone has watched Inappropriate Reefer on YouTube, that frogspawn at the top of his 45g is what I want to recreate. Other than that, the tank will be mostly zoas and mushrooms (mainly ricordea). Here are some setup shots. Hope you guys like it and will follow me in my endeavors! Some overflow shots:

  17. Hey everyone, I got the SpinStream for my Nuvo 10 and it seems to be making WAY too much noise (tank is in my bedroom).. will this eventually break in and make less sound? because the flow is amazing, I just can't stand the gear noises it makes. I heard if I leave it on for a week or so, it will develop some sort of slime coat and the noise will go away, any truth to this or should I try getting a replacement spin stream and testing that one? Thanks
  18. The NXN Fusion 10

To kick things off, this thread will be about updates and the progression of my nuvo 10 thats goal is to be a sps dominant aquarium. Iv been lurking around for a while. I started keeping saltwater tanks on and off for the last 14 years but have really started taking it serious for the last 4 years. I started with a 10g glass aquarium with a HOB filter, it was a FOWLR. Then I got a 30 with some softies. Then I got my first AIO the IM Abyss. The Abyss started leaking so IM warrantied it but the tank was no longer available. So they gave me the lagoon 25 and the nuvo 10 in its place. I like both tanks and decided I want the 25 to be softies and LPS and the 10 to be LPS and SPS. Any suggestions from ppl who have thriving SPS corals in a Nano would be very appreciated and pointed out any mistakes I may be making would be noted. I set up the 10 in September of 2017, and here is where I’m at so far...
  21. The tank and stand sold for around $580. It has the following upgrades/add-ons. $440 obo Sicce Syncra 1.5 (super silent) $65 upgrade Tunze Comline 9004 skimmer $150 add-on Inank/Media basket (can be used as a fuge) $60 upgrade Wavepoint blade 9" HO led light with independent blue and white channels $65 add-on. So a bit over $900 worth of gear. This is a turn key+plug and play set up. Add water (+live stock( and you're all set. I can supply black live sand (enough for a shallow sand bed) and cheato for free if you're interested. Not parting at this time, no delivery (this will fit in a sedan), cash only, first come first serve, price OBO. Tank on the left in the photo. Vortech, Radion, and livestock not included. Located in Saint Petersburg/Tampa Florida area.

    Diy nano protien skimmer

Okay so if anybody is in the market to get a nano skimmer take this write up into consideration. I couldn't find a skimmer to fit in the small space. There's only one skimmer out there that would work for me. There was still a possibility that it wouldn't have fit plus I would have been spending over $100 So the items you'll need is some kind of bottle or tube that will fit your space I found drink bottles to work the best for This because you can utilize the the water tight seal in the cap of most drinks
