  1. We picked up a studio 12 to rehome the leather and have a nice, easy, lower flow tank. The current plans are to get the gfci, inkbird & heater, tank full of rodi water, make sure it doesn’t leak, add Red Sea blu bucket, then let it mix. Add the ocean direct and life rock, add some fresh and some seasoned biomedia (MP gems), add a teaspoon of Life Source mud, .5ml nopox, and let it cook a few days. Next will be pods, phytoplankton, a seachem ammonia badge, a bunch of softies from the SPS tank, and begin searching for inverts, fish, and coral. The light only go on with the addition of coral. We’ll update with photos as it proceeds. If you want to follow the details (including livestock) https://www.aquaticlog.com/aquariums/shieldspj/3/ Free plug for aquatic log. Easily the best tank journal. I’m super poor (government disability pension) and I gleefully get the pro. But everyone that logs anything (chemistry/biology/livestock) you can track whatever minutiae, or big picture it. I love it, and the free version does all the vital parts. But if you run an apex, and feel the built in trackin is lacking the upgrade may well be worth it. I like that it pulls my trident info. It lets me share the intimate details of my tank.
  2. Hey everyone! The time has finally come (some peer pressure was involved haha) and I'm ready to show off my tank! I upgraded recently from a Cadlights 8G to a Cobalt C-Vue 26g, transferring everything to the bigger tank. This is my first biotope however I'm pretty proud of how it's coming along. I've seen a lot of Caribbean biotopes lately and noticed a lot of interest in them. I'd like to clarify though I have had a Caribbean biotope in my home since late 2017! 🙂 Here is a FTS of my old 8G (since has been transferred and taken down): 8G - FTS March 2018: Now here are pictures of my current 26G tank: 26G - FTS April 2019: 26G - Left Side: 26G - Right Side: Bonus macro shot of my Jawfish and neon Ricordea: -EQUIPMENT- Tank: AIO Cobalt C-Vue 26G Custom black stand Lighting/Heating: Single AI Prime HD Cobalt 75W Heater Inkbird ITC-306T temp controller Filtration: Intank Media Basket with filter floss, Chemipure Blue and Purigen Cobalt filter sock DIY Chaeto Reactor Flow/ATO: Icecap Gyre 1k Cobalt pump AquaSmart Micro ATO -LIVESTOCK- *11/19 Update* Fish: Chalk Bass - Serranus Tortugarum Yellowhead Jawfish - Opistognathus aurifrons Neon Goby x1 (Non-mated pair) - Elacatinus oceanops Sailfin Blenny x2 (Non-mated pair) - Emblemaria Pandionis Cherubfish - Centropyge Argi Inverts: Blue Leg Hermit x5 - Clibanarius tricolor Porcelain Crab x2 - Petrolisthes galathinus One lone Cerith Snail - Cerithiidae Pepppermint Shrimp x2 - Lysmata Wurdemanni Corals: Gorgonian x6 (when viewing left to right): Yellow Sea Feather - Pseudopterogorgia sp Purple Brush Gorgonian - Muriceopsis flavida Knobby Sea Rod - Eunicea sp Rusty Gorgonian - Muricea elongate Yellow Sea Whip - Pterogorgia citrina Purple Sea Feather - Pseudopterogorgia sp Rock Flower Anemone Florida Ricordea x4 Various Caribbean Zoanthid species x4. Caulerpa in the display and Chaeto in my reactor. Big shout out to KPaquatics.com for always being top notch on livestock and being patient with my questions. I apologize for the bad photos I just got a reef phone filter lens and am still playing around with it. I will keep posting photos here as I have much more planned for the future!

    20 Gallon Low Budget Nanoreef

I have a couple pico reefs and I've been posting my 20 gallon in my pico journal but now that it's about 6 months old I figured I'd start a thread for it specifically. I have an aquaclear 50, a Jabeao wave maker and a Current USA light. It needs about another 6 months to look grown in but it's not looking too bad. I have mostly LPS corals. The only SPS is a seriatopora on the top rock and 2 pieces of montipora on a magnetic ledge right below the light. Also covering my 40 gallon reef tank in this thread.

    Pacific oysters filtration

7.5 gallon nano tank. Simple filtration, 7 Pacific oysters ( not all oysters created equal), little dry rock, right now one skimmer on only daytime. Going on 90 days. Other system 120 gallons has 60 Pacific oysters over 1 year 6 months. See video to get an idea of setup. https://www.instagram.com/p/CH8K1gvjI0E/?igshid=ujrt3214yhhq
  5. Hello everyone, For some time now I have been considering starting a pico reef tank with the sole focus on rock flower anemones. After recently stumbling upon this contest, it seems to me like there is no better time but now to get the ball rolling. I am super excited as this is my first contest and only my second tank after starting my first nano tank in May 2019. Since discovering this hobby, I have been fascinated by anemones but more specifically, rock flower anemones because of their appearance, endless variation of color, and the one of the only anemone species that can be kept in a pico or nano reef tank. My primary goal for this tank is to create a vibrant and colorful environment where rock flower anemones can spawn and reproduce. I do not know how difficult this is or if this is even possible in a pico tank but I hope to succeed at breeding them. I decided to go with a very simple aquascape with no overhangs or caves. 6. @banasophia recommended I should create a journal on here. So… here we go! 😊 Hello! My name is Tyler (aka inland_reef). The ‘Tale of Three Tanks’ began with the purchase of a used 28 gallon Nanocube on April 9, 2018 (Just rounded out the 1 year mark!). Like everyone else on this forum, I got addicted to saltwater aquariums 😂 This journal will talk about the evolution of my tanks, their setup specs and my ideas for future plans. While you're here, enjoy some eye candy of my current setups below. Ill try to make this a picture heavy journal, but you can see more pictures of my tanks on my Instagram page @inland_reef . I post daily updates there.
  7. So... This wasn't exactly planned, but now I have saltwater again! After about 3 years of being out of the hobby, I'm back. When a friend offered me his Evo 13.5 for 100 bucks fully set up I couldn't say no! It arrived tonight, with a minor gha infestation and looking kinda bad. The stock pump apparently kicked it unless I'm doing something wrong, and I also might have dropped the SG to 1.022 after it was at 1.029. Oops. So tomorrow it looks like I'll be running to the LFS to pick up a new pump and saltwater. Tank currently has an emerald crab, a hermit of some sort, a damsel of some sort and a rainsford goby which was looking bad when it got to my house. Also, a partially dead gorg and some snails. I put a maxijet 1200 on it for now (good grief, it's horribly noisy!).

    MJ's 75 Gallon Fallout Shelter

This is the upgrade of the prior 29g acrylic. The tank was upgraded in May 2018 after a move. Unfortunately, there were some losses in the move and again when the house's AC was offline for a week due to renovation. However, the tank has made a solid comeback.
