Fluval nano 13 gallon eco xii

This is a shot of my tank at night. Lots of mods and strategy for this nano in place and more on the way... almost 3 years deep and display refugium will be my next project. Looking for pure stability.

    New 2.5 gallon Fluval Set-up 😎

Alrighty well here we go !! Previously have owned a 5 gallon fluval but when I moved to NYC I decided to donate my set up back to my local store . Well now I’m back from New York and ready to take on another challenge ! This small fluval fits perfectly in this small area in my apt . Just got it set up yesterday with some rock and sand . Now just to wait and research what to put in it 🤔🤔. Any suggestions ??
  3. Got a few pics of my tank running the hydra26 and also glued my new WWC frags on the rocks.
  4. To those of you who have a MAME design skimmer, could you post a picture of how you have it set up? Specifically, how deep into the water do you place it and how high up do you have the bubbles go? I know it is working for me since I have green water that comes out, but sometimes it works awesomely (like very dark green water) and other times it doesn’t work as well. Im under the impression that I need an ATO to get the best use out of it, but until I get one, could you guys share with me the ideal placement for it? Additionally, do you find it to be super wobbly? I’m not sure if there’s a better way to set it up, since the instructions were all in Japanese.
  5. This live sale was brutal and things sold in seconds...... I did manage to get 3 frags but the $5 ones disappeared super quick. Hopefully these corals will do good in my evo, I already have a birdsnest that’s doing good.
  6. Anyone have suggestions on hydra 26 settings over a fluval evo 13.5

    Isaac's Peninsula Reef

Welcome to my journey! I decided to get back into the reefing hobby, Im a bit late to post on the forum, but my tank is already up and running! I add corals every week, and post updates. I Hope you enjoy, my little piece of the ocean 🙂 Tank: Fluval Evo 13.5 Gallon Equipment: Aqua Illumination Prime HD Jebao OW-10 on the W2 Sine Settings, third speed (a little less than 400GPH) InTank Media Basket (Chamber One) -> Filter Floss -> Chemipure Blue -> Marine Pure Eheim Heater Stock Return Pump Live Rock / Real Reef Rock Aqua Forest Reef Salt Aqua Forest Pro Bio F Aqua Forest Bio S Live Stock: Bullet Hole Clownfish (Drogon) Black Ice Clownfish ( Rhegal) Bubble Tip Anemone Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp (Tyrion... because he cleans up everyones mess 😛 ) Blue Leg Hermit Crabs Red Stripe Snails Coral: Sunny D Zoa Nebula Zoa Eagle Eye Zoa Holy Grail Torch (QT) Gold Aussie Torch (QT) Bonsai Acropora (QT) Maintenance: I do daily water changes of about 1-2 Liters of water, and have found that my fish and coral love it, my clowns have already laid the first clutch of eggs, so things are working out:)! I feed a variety of food, PE Mysis, LRF Nano, and New Life Spectrum. They get fed the NLS Pellets in the morning, the PE Mysis in the afternoon, and at night the get Reef Frenzy Nano I just did a water change so I will post photos in a couple hours! 🙂
  8. Need some options on of this looks safe mounted on my glass. I ended up buying a hydra26 today because apparently prime hd’s are sold out and aquaillumination is not shipping any to stores..... maybe they are working on upgrading the primes??? Well I ended up getting the hydra knowing it’s a bit much but hey I will be getting a new tank this year and it will carry over. My concern is if this mount is safely installed on the glass, it’s a heavy light and the gooseneck is also heavy. I just don’t know if it could break the glass from to much stress or if I’m just over worrying. Hope some one can chime in.
  9. Picked up 2 new acans and 1 micromussa over the weekend plus a Hanna ph checker
  10. Silly question but does anyone know if flowerpot corals can be placed next to each other or will one sting the other. I picked up a new frag last weekend and it’s a different color then my current one.
  11. Saw this thing in my tank today, does anyone know what it is and should I be concerned...... also found a couple of aptasias on my sand bed😵🤬

    Acan question

Just picked up an acan frag on Friday and was wondering if a tailspin blenny and citrinis clown goby are same from it. I saw a couple of post about acans eating fish so it made me a bit concerned.

    What tank should I choose?

Hey everyone, I'm looking at getting my first tank but am a bit indecisive. I'm trying to decide between a Waterbox 20 Cube, Innovative Marine 20 Nuvo Fusion, and a Fluval 13.5 Evo. What would you choose and why? As for lighting, I'm going to get the AI prime. Thanks!
  14. Went to the LFS and saw this flower pot coral, it was only $14.99 so thought I would give it a try i guess my citrinis clown goby likes it lol

    Duncan

My Duncan is getting larger but one of the heads isn’t growing as much and is not even open in this picture.
  16. So I have had my evo since they first came out back in the middle of 2016 and recently I noticed some of my lights went out. Contacted fluval and they sent me a new light under warranty. It appears to be slightly different and the led’s seem to be better protected...... problem was that the freaking new light wouldn’t even turn on 😒. Fluval is sending me another one that should arrive today so hopefully that one actually works. But wanted to share some pics of the new light. The old one is on the right, new one on the left. Also the connectors are better and have a tighter fit
  17. I started my new reef tank earlier this week (a fluval evo 13.5) and I added live rock, live sand (about 1.5 inches), and premium reef saltwater that my LFS mixed up for me. I’ve also been adding fluval cycle concentrated biological booster at the rate they suggest for a new tank. I have some questions regarding cycling. A lot of the videos I have watched online suggest first adding live rock, sand, and water, the next week adding a clean up crew, and then once the cycle is completed to add fish. However I’ve spoken on the phone with three of my LFSs and all three have told me to start my cycle by adding a fish. There is a lot of conflicting information out there, I was hoping that you guys could weigh in and give me some pros and cons with each option. If I decide to cycle with a fish, can I add a banggai cardinal fish? Additionally, when can I add coral?? This tank is primarily for coral, i'm just adding a fish or two for fun. A lot of articles that I have read say that I can add my coral now if I want, and that they won't be impacted by my tank cycling. Is this true? Lastly, if anyone has some suggestions on easy to care for corals, i'm always happy for more suggestions. Thanks so much!
  18. Hey all! Been lurking on this forum for several years, making a few posts here and there. I just set up another (this is my 4th) reef tank a little over three weeks ago and I'm very excited for it. The live rock I added is coming alive more and more every day, and copeopods are flourishing. Just added the first wave of my CUC a few days ago after params stabalized. Four dwarf hermits, one turbo snail, and one nerite snail. Have some good hitchhikers coming out of my rock as well. One small hairy legged reef crab, a few bristleworms, lots of those small starfish and one serpent star. Anyways here's a pic sorry if this went on and on, just excited to be back in the hobby. Thanks guys!
  19. Going to add a new fish today, would a tail spot blenny get along with a citrinis clown goby? My tank is a fluval evo 13.5 and i think it’s finally time to add another fish but want something peaceful.
  20. Hi, I have been trying to dial in my Fluval ps2 protein skimmer in my Fluval Evo 13.5 gallon tank and am not having any luck. Any guidance or tips to make sure this starts skimming properly would be great! Some thoughts I have; - does water level in tank effect the skimmer? - should you plug that hole in the second chamber so the “sump” is a closed system? Thanks in advance!

    fluval evo 12

FTS of my evo. Trying to make it look decent again
  22. Went to the grand opening of the big little fish store in Dallas today and picked up some new frags at a great deal. The store was awesome and everything looked healthy. All live stock was 25% off 🤗 so I picked up 2 bumble bee snails at $2.25 each, Duncan frag at around $20, acan frag $11.25, and galaxea frag $11.25. Seemed like good deals to me
  23. Hello all! I have taken the plunge into nano reefing and bought myself a Fluval Evo to start with! I plan to keep the light and pump stock for now, but I will be adding a heater, a hydor centrifugal pump 300 gah with rotating water deflector and will do a diy media basket using floss, seachem matrix and other media which I haven’t decided on yet. I may add a refugium to it as well as I have an extra phosguard 150 reactor in my aquarium bin that’s just sitting there. It will be a slow build so I will update as needed. My liverock is currently soaking in r/o water which I am testing for phosphate. I want too see if any is leaching from it as I had it sitting outside for the past year so it has been free of life, except the odd terrestrial isopod that snuggled into it. So I guess that’s it! Next update I’ll show my dry live rock scaping ideas.
  24. I have been seeing these fibers floating everywhere in my tank. I did a 15% water change to try and reduce them but it does not seem to have helped. Anyone know what they could be? I was thinking maybe I had some vermetid snails but don’t see any. This is something that just started about 2 weeks ago. I did finally replace my sponge in the evo with intank media basket for chamber 2 and put filter floss to hopefully help
  25. Arc Katana

    Arc's Vista23

So I stopped at the LFS (it's an hour away) and found a Fluval Vista23 for sale for dirt cheap. Not really needing a tank, I bought it anyway. Later when opening it up I find out it comes with an AC50, 100W heater, live bacteria and some other stuff. So I picked it up and as I was leaving I saw they had an old but new in box Fluval 24" Marine LED fixture on clearance. Since it fits, and I've had them before (see pic below) I took it home with me. It comes with an 8k LED that is pretty dim, but since I can fit the other LED strip on top of the tank, I'll dremel out the top and run both. If I wanted to I could take the LED out, it just snaps in and is easy to remove, but since I've got no use for it now, it will stay. The tank is 30"x11.5"x17.5". Its a taller, rounder 20L really. Pic of my old JBJ 30 with the same LED Fixture I'll be running on it below: The Vista23 in all its unwashed glory. Back is painted black already. I think I'll be cutting out room for either a Marineland 350 or AC110 powerfilter. I think I'll save the AC50 for a 10G I've got laying around. No skimmer or sump, going for a simple, fun tank. I've got live sand in a bag leftover from my 77XL, so that will go in there. Still working on the fish, I might be biting off more than I should, but thinking of trying to get a harem of something. One last thing, I live in the middle of Northern Minnesota, and have no internet. I have to use a wireless hotspot (5GB is 50$) so I'll probably only update once a week or so.
