Idea 1: 2x clownfish 1x clown gobie 1× midas blenny Idea 2: 2x clownfish 1x Helfiritchi firefish 1x pink striped wrasse Maybe a clown gobie Idea 3: 2x clownfish 1x yasha gobie 2-3 firefish

    Nano aquarium fish stocking guide

I am here to announce the Nano fish compatibility document created over a span of a few days currently containing 221 different fish that can live in a 30 gallon or smaller aquarium. I ran into a bit of a problem as I started (and still am) setting up my first tank that is also my first nano tank which is that it was hard to find good and reliable resources on which fish I could add to my aquarium and even ended up getting an invert I shouldn't have, so I hope this help anyone looking to start a nano aquarium! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19B3sGOFJGuymJPzWVdrF3a-_hWBnJO1pyLyR6UzRiMo/edit?usp=sharing You can scroll down to see other fish and to the right to see their attributes. Don't forget at the bottom of the chart there are different types of fish, if you click on a type all the fish of that type will come up. Of course, as this document is created by me only, I can only be so sure everything is correct so if you see something that is wrong or would like for me to add something please let me know and I will. Any feedback is much appreciated! (Scientific names are even in alphabetical order after minimum tank requirement ;) )

    Bubbles in silicone

hi!i recently got a 30 gallon tank. While i was leak testing it, i noticed a leak, so i am now going to drain remove the current outer layer of silicone and re seal it from the inside. i did noticed the cause of the leak was a big bubble in the seam. can this cause issues in the fueture or will re sealing it with a thick layer of silicone solve it.
  6. I love supporting my local store but they have really gone down hill the last couple of years. I realize that part of this is certainly due to Covid but just the availability of any product even the most readily available items are not coming in any more. If and when they do get stuff in there stock looks good and are almost always healthy but such limited selection it’s hard to build what I’m wanting to. I have asked about ordering in and they say they will put it on there list but I have yet to get one animal I have ordered in the last 2 years. Especially corals Is this typical for anyone else in Canada? So my question is where are people getting coral, fish and inverts from when you are ordering online that is either located in Canada or will ship to Canada? Who is good to deal with?

    Clown acting odd??

Hello all, I'm new to the saltwater hobby and I've set up a 13.5 Evo tank. It's been up and running for a little over a week now. Today I introduced two clowns, a peppermint shrimp, and two hermit crabs. I've checked water parameters and everything seems alright. Everyone is settling in well except for one clown. I am slightly concerned about how it is swimming. It has been swimming vertically most of the time...almost like it is trying to reach the top of the tank. Not sure what is going on, so reaching out to the forum for some help. I've attached some pics and some videos I took (the last two I captured from my night vision camera). Hope someone can help! https://youtu.be/zjH4Ew3Wpv4 https://youtu.be/GKoeIKaZDVE https://youtu.be/jkWu4EdI3yI
  8. I’ve been researching about what order to introduce coral and fish to the tank but there are a lot of mixed responses. So far all I know is that I’m going to add a CUC first. My original plan was to do CUC, coral, and then fish but I’ve read that fish are disease prone and I wouldn’t want to get a fish that brings in some type of disease to the corals. I would quarantine the fish I get but I don’t have the space/resources to setup a quarantine tank. But I don’t want to do fish first and then have my water parameters become unstable due to the bigger increase in bio load and stress out my fish. Any tips? Thanks!
  9. Hi all, ive been looking into keeping coral and a fish in a 5 gallon tank. Is it safe to keep a fish in a tank that size? I tried to look it up but I keep getting conflicting information but I heard it’s good to have a fish with coral so that they can each benefit each other. Would it be better to keep inverts? Any info/advice would be appreciated 😁 Thanks!

  11. This is my first reef tank. I want to document how I started my reef tank. And the fun journey now begins. Spent only $150 on tank with stand. $200 for everything else with test kits. January 17th/ 2021 Started the tank off with Auqaforest BIO S. Fluval 13.5 reef tank Fluval reef tank stand 12 pounds of rock. Fluval sea mini protein skimmer Fluval salt salinity measure Fluval heater 40w Marina powered temp checker Aquaforest reefsalt 2kg bag Gravle vacuum Marina glass cleaner **Fluval led stock** retired March 2021 SPECIAL Thank you to WAI'S AQUARIUM LTD CALGARY, AB I wanted to try some really fine sand but that was a mistake and now have to switch it out with water changes as I clean tank. anyone have any experience with adding in sand should I do a cup a week to not make my level spike with the new sand that I will be adding in? January 20th 2020 added sand and rock to the tank. February 3rd 2020 added 4 snails, 3 crabs, two blue chromes, 2 long nose snails (forget what they are called lol).
  12. I'm hoping I could add a yasha goby, randall pistol shrimp, tailspot blenny, and a red firefish to my 13.5 gallon tank. Are there too many fish/any compatibly issues? All comments and or suggestions are greatly welcomed and appreciated

    My First Nano-Reef Tank

Hey! So this will be my very first reef tank! I absolutely love the idea of a mini ecosystem in my house, so here goes: 1. What natural (Maybe organic) fish/invert food do you reccommend? 2. What tank do you reccommend for a 35-45 gallon set-up? 3. What fish/invert species do you reccommend? (The smarter, the better) 4. What corals do you reccommend for a beginner? 5. What supplies do you need to start your very own nano reef tank. Also, what brands do you think are best? 6. Any tips and tricks? Thank you!
  14. Hi, I’m new to the saltwater tanks and have set up a fluval 13.5 with a nano protein skimmer, it’s been around for four months now! The tank has cycled and I’ve added a pair of clownfish and a pair of dragonets (that eat frozen food) and one cleaner shrimp. So since I’m new I really would like to research about some other fishes I could add, that being said I am really sorry if I ask some stupid questions! Is it possible to add a fire fish and a pink spot goby. I am only going to add the pink spot goby if there is enough room and am only asking because my older sister has a fish that is constantly bullying the spotted goby (and a bangai cardinal) and is asking if I have room for it and/or the bangai cardinal???
  15. Hi everyone, my old tank was a 20 gallon aqeuon with a tomato clownfish and a yellow watchman goby. This will be a slow thread as I'm a little tight with money at the moment, but I hope the end result will be fantastic. Anyways I picked up the top fin 55 gallon tank kit. I am aqua scaling it to have 2 clumps of rocks on both sides that slope into the middle like a trench. I was watching serpa design and he painted the back of his tank with Rust-Oleum acrylic black latex paint and I think I will do this to really get the trench vibe going. The goal of this tank is to not have many corals but have huge colonies that will fill the tank. Clownfish & Mandarin Dragonet

Can two ocellaris clownfish and a mandarin dragonet live together in a 100 gallon corner tank? Yes, i will be providing plenty of live rock with live copepods which i will be harvesting. It will also have plenty of corals. (reef tank is my goal)
  17. My clown has been acting weird for a bit. I can't get him to eat even with garlic. I've tried medicated food for internal parasites but he won't eat it. Right now I am just treating the water with a general cure and epson salt. He is very unactive, breathing heavily, and won't eat. There is no other sign of illness. He does have a tank mate another clown which is new and been nipping at his tail, they are now separated to prevent further stress. What should I do? here is a video of what he's doing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E-o392Dx3U
  18. I bought a Red Scarlett Temple and a Mondo Grass a few months ago, and noticed that algae started growing on them. It not string algae, it's a green algae that grows on the sides of tanks. I have a ten gallon and just wondering if I can clean it off or what algae eater would be the best to help. Let me know if you need more info. Not at home but I can take a pic later.
  19. Hi so i am thinking of getting a weird/rare saltwater fish. I currently have a spriger's damsel, royal gramma and a lubbock fairy (my chromis and cardinal will be moved out soon) the tank is a 2o gallon cube that will turn into an sps tank (this thread used to be for flashlight fish)

    CLOWNFISH ACTING STRANG HELP!

Hello everyone! So I have this pair of clownfish but recently they starting to act very strangely. They breath very very fast, they don't swim much, one of them don't eat much. What should I do? Its a 12 liter tank and I have a hang-on-the-back filter for 35 liters and I started aerating it and it has a decent light but it doesn't have any other livestock other than my pair of clowns. The tank has been up for 9 months and I added the livestock at June. Please help. P.S. I live in Japan, Tokyo so most foreign country products won't be available.

  24. Noob fish tank owner here! Wonder if anyone can help, I've recently bought a Biorb cube 30 litre and have been researching fish etc I'm after a combination of small/nano size fishes and that can live with a heater or not depending? Ideally i would want 1 catfish, 1 shrimp, 1 pea puffer and any other fishes that'll fill up the rest of my space. I need help as every website is saying different. I know 30 litres isn't a lot to work with but I'd like to make the best out of my situation. Thanks
