This is a log for my fluval spec 3 pico. Its an old tank, originally bought for BC29 QT tank. But since I have resident 3 fishes in by BC29 for almost a year, later it started housing some of my softie/zoa frags. I ran the tank with stock gears, weekly 90%WC, lighting backed by a time. Later it was upgraded use ABI 12W, LED bulb (tuna blue) and a Aqua Clear 20 HOB filter, heater.. all controlled by raspberry pi. This tank was never meant for a display tank. Things changed couple of months earlier. During christmas, I was able to finish the PWM and few other things in controller. That allows me to control kessil lights now. And I really love the Kessil A80 on my other pico (imagitarium 3.7). I decided to clean up the tank, fixed aquascape.. Almost a month before I started adding couple of zoas (from BC29), then couple of paly's. Today it now has its own Kessil A80 :-). Thought I'll share some images. Its an old tank, so it not really a build thread, but it a new beginning for this tank.. since it will house resident coral.. not guests :-) Setup with A80 Just the tank: Close up

Current fts Close up Ridordia is still going strong, I think it’s stinging the nearby zoas I have glued a green acro frag to check the water . My apartment move is coming later this month , I am planning to do some serious changes soon after the move ,in next apartment. I want to change the tank, I don’t like this form factor , particularly the corner rims. I am thinking changing it with imagitarium 3.7 g or waterbox 4g .

Tank: Imagitarim 3.7 G , from petco Equipments: - Removed stock filters. Return pump changed to Rio+90. AquaClear 30 HOB filter (runs for half day). - Lighting changed to Kessil A80. - Aqueron 20W heater. - Coralife digital thermometer. Corals: - GSP - Acan (Red) - 7 types of Zoas (5 are from my BC29) - Several SPS (monti, acro, stylo) .. Orange montipora and green digitata from BC29. - Green rico (from BC29) - 1 purple death paly. Maintenance: - Weekly 100% water change. Filtration: - BRS carbon + filter floss on HOB. Back chember has additional LR. I have a smallish hermit crab (Jack) and a snail (Metro) in it. No fish. I am thinking of adding a clown goby. Originally I didnt wanted to keep any fish, to keep the bioload low. But I am having so much pods now that zoas sometime stay close. Other than that, the tank is doing very good, I find it more gorgeous than the BC29. FTS: May 2017 February, 2017

Current fts close up green plays are growing faster than most other corals. I glued another sps frag (a green acropora from my biocube) to check how it does . The sexy shrimp is already nipping at it 😞 . my apartment move is coming late this month I am thinking if I should change anything (rockscape etc) as part of the move or keep the tank as it is. I like how it looks , but i also want to grow some harder corals ....

Hello, This is my very first salt water tank. Thanks for having such rich content on the forum. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through a lot of folks journey. Specs: Coralife Biocube 29G Filtration: floss + chemipure elite + purigen, - bioballs ,Lighting: stock LR + Dry Rock + live sand (CaribSea) Stock pump 100w heater (aqueon pro). Im cycling the tank for past 1 week. I can see some tiny coraline and green/yellowish patches on the dry rock. Current water parameters are Ammonia: 0.25, Nitrite: 0, Nitrate: 0. I'm planning to upgrade the tank as time progress (1 koralia nano, aquatic life 115 skimmer,

Some changes on the sps /acro island on top . Current fts oneof the acro was showing some stn from bottom , have fragged and regrafted it’s parts on the bottom island and in the middle we’ll see if the large frag makes it. I have couple of othe smaller frags of this in different parts of the tank ,but this was the biggest Hopefully this will let the millipora and green slimer some space to grow I think I have to trim or prune the other large acro colonies as well , else the new frags will be shaded Red dragon closeup Yellow lepto closeup Micro goniopora Zoa island my apartment move is coming later this month , thinking of making some long due changes , or just keep it simple and move as it is, it’s already a lot of work 🙂
  12. Hello hive minds , we are trying to use nano box 3.1 arrays with our diy controllers . I am planning to use a 3.1 array and the diy driver board , which uses led-h drivers . I can generate 5v pwm (using pca9685 ic) from our diy controller (reef-pi) . I think this should be fine, i.e. I can connect 5 channels of 5v pwm each to the pwm output pin of diy driver board( from nano box ), but I could not find any documentation on this, hence this post . i am planning to use the recommended power adapter from nano box as well.

I did not get a chance to test out nanobox setup, I got busy with reef-pi 2.0 release . Will get back to this soon. Let us keep posted on your build
  14. Hello, nano reefers, I am happy to announce the immediate availability of reef-pi 2.0. reef-pi is an Opensource, modular, extensible, DIY reef tank controller based on Raspberry Pi. The 2.0 release allows power control (AC equipment), multiple temperature control, multiple ATO, LED light control (including diurnal cycle), pH monitoring, automated dosing, macro and many more. We have made reef-pi UI mobile friendly and snappy as well. Adafruit now has a set of beginner-friendly reef-pi tutorial for those who want to build a physical controller using reef-pi Software installation & configuration Power controller Temperature controller Auto Top Off Light controller pH Monitor Thank you for reading through this post and happy Thanksgiving 😛

Hello everyone, time for tank updates . Not good news, the tyree challice lost a lot of tissue, not sure why , probably the sexy shrimp , but can be other reason also. Northeast and plays continued to grow , sexy shrimp is doing good as well. No new addition or deletion . Fts gsp is also mostly closed for couple of days. I hooked up the hob filter , with filter floss. If things don’t improve I’ll add a chemipure nano there All the plays and Nepthea continued to grow. Grandis has gotten to a volume that I think I have to frag soon

Tank is humming along mostly focusing on sps growth , acros are continue to grow slowly but steadily Some macro shots And I think tank is more stable now, red dragon is not only growing in height but also getting thicker But they are now seriously invading each other’s space My frags that are grafted in the middle section is now showing some growth The zoa island is kinda frozen in time ,no space left there I love this lepto , it’s not very common amd looks kinda similar to purple coralline , but has a distinct texture This is the other island at the bottom , slowly growing out , Rarely I get a good shot of my fish Clown thats it for now ? , thank you for reading through my thread

Current FTS (photos taken under heavy blue, then white balance corrected using Camera+ iphone app) Zoa garden is already out of space, some of the la lakers have started to grow on the tank bottom, bubble coral has gotten humongous, When I turn off my mp10, its inflates even more.. and the mouth is clearly visible (i am assuming this is ok) happy reefing
